When we first entered the hotel, the receptionists were quite nice, although one did sigh rudely. When we were given our room it had a pungent odour to it. One of the key cards provided were broken, although getting it re-done, it still didn't work. The showers had good pressure and the bathroom was decently clean. The beds had crisp fresh linen but the pillowcases felt used. The breakfast was just okay. We stayed for three days and each day they got one of our orders wrong. Another 30 minute wait until we got the correct breakfast. In the restaurant there was a horrible couple steps. They were so steep I am surprised to see that they got past the health and safety laws. My friends and toddler fell down these stairs multiple times. One of these times my friends were holding orange juice, which spilled all over their brand new jumper. The staff couldn't care less. My toddler enjoyed when Santa came in and took a picture with him. I never new there were York accents in the north pole! During our stay, a group of visitors at the hotel contiously knocked on our door. We were very distressed and all stayed in a room together. Eventually when my friends went to go back to their room a staff member came to tell us that their was a noise complaint. We told them that it wasn't us making the noise and that it was other guests. They patronisingly laughed and told us that at our age she would have done the same. Me, being in my mid thirties with a condition that made my body not develop properly so I look much younger than I actually do was upset by this comment. She looked not a day of 18 and to talk condescendingly to me seemed very rude. She said if I made the noise again I would be kicked out. Very unfair given it wasn't even us. I was thinking of bringing it up with reception, only to realise she worked reception too. Many of the workers there were youths. They didn't have the same standards and the hotel halls had litter in them. There was a nice server at dinner who was very helpful. The location was just okay. If you want a cheap stay at an okay hotel with bad staff then this is the place for you. Personally, I enjoy a smiling face and understanding staff. Not rude people who don't take you seriously and judge you for your looks. The playground outside was rotting and not well catered to. The slide was full of sludgy leaves and dirt. the ground was slippy and not well gritted. My toddler slipped multiple times. I don't think that I will be taking my business to Premier Inn again but I hope that the other ones are...
Read moreAVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS There is undoubtedly nothing premier about this hotel; our stay (which didn't happen) turned into a hotel nightmare. We are a middle-aged couple who were attending a family birthday party in Northwich, and unwittingly booked to stay at this god-awful hotel.
While checking in at the reception desk, we complained about the additional charges, as we felt it was a little unfair, considering we had arranged for our wider family to stay at the hotel also. In response to our complaint, the receptionist was particularly dismissive, repeating company policy. When I asked the receptionist to escalate the matter to her manager, she refunded me! - Outraged by the attitude of the staff on arrival, we retired to our room to get change.
Upon leaving the hotel to go to the venue, we noticed the receptionist and other staff sitting on the curb directly outside the hotel entrance. It looked very unprofessional, like a youth club hangout. I saw the staff looking directly at us, smirking and snickering. When we returned to our room (on the top floor), neither keycards were working. I didn't suspect then, but now I believe the staff may be behind this as a sick practice teenage joke.
When we went to the reception to complain about our keycards - the replacement receptionist was rude beyond belief and told us that my partner and I had been put on a 'Watch Guest List' because we complained earlier that day. When my partner challenged him about his rude and unprofessional demeanour, and then, he said, "That's it! I am calling the police! You have to leave the hotel." My partner and I, along with the other guests in reception, were gob-smacked.
To make matters worse, they refused to return our belongings from the room until the police turned up. The police didn't attend, likely because it was a juvenile and civil matter; however, this poor excuse for a hotel kept us waiting outside in the rain and weather for hours before returning to our property.
lucky for us, we lived locally, and it was only 35 minutes taxi ride home. However, we had to leave our car behind, causing more costs to get the car home the following day.
From my experience with Premier Inn, they are a Mickey Mouse company. I didn't expect a luxury room, but at least the basic customer service with friendly staff. You don't expect to be booted out of a hotel and the police called upon you for making a complaint. Premier Inn has a lot to answer regarding dealing with customers...
Read moreThis was probably the worst I've visited, and I've been to several. As a wheelchair user, I use their Accessible Rooms and usually they're good.
This one had a good layout, lots of room to move the wheelchair about, lovely big desk, great wet room Wit a really good shower chair and layout. It seemed like a good room. And it was. It WOULD have been. If it was Winter.
So, what was wrong...?
Although built to use their usual and general Premier Inn air con system, NONE had been actually installed to USE.
The room was made to be "insulated" to keep air con in, as they need to be for it to work, and the window barely opened an inch to vent the place. AND, in the boiling summer, that’s a TERRIBLE. Not only was it not inside it was REALLY HOT INSIDE.
The room reached a sweltering 29°C — even with 3 fans* on the go that I'd had to request!!
I have a severe and complex form of Fibromyalgia and require a wheelchair after it hitting everywhere hard, meaning I also get ill very easily and quickly — and this room made me very ill. I was stuck there 3 nights and I was barely able to move from what it did to me. Needless to say, I literally got No sleep for 3 days and nights here. I was a complete zombie upon leaving.
The staff could do nothing but give fans, and some could barely bring themselves to care (luckily others did). I was SO relieved to leave... The irony being if I’d gone there to get better, running away from terrible storms making me ill in my native Wales, which I sometimes have to do... I’d have only got worse.
To add insult to injury, the adjoining Cookhouse Pub was just as bad, with an incredible lack of staff, those who were there were terrible, and waiting for service for ordering and asking for then paying the bill was far too long to be pleasant. This was also another place that did not open windows or have air con despite it being very hot inside and out.
The entire experience, unfortunately, was extraordinarily disappointing, awful, and, frankly, harmful. A very...
