First time visiting Weymouth this August. As a loyal Premier Inn customer, i decided to stay at a Premier Inn while in Weymouth. I decided on the retail park, mercenary road, Premier Inn. Big Mistake. We were very unfortunate to come into contact with an unprofessional discriminatory member of staff. It was actually quite a shocking and traumatising incident.
Our second day there, we got back to the hotel about half ten at night. On going to get our keys 're-cut' i was asked, 'Are you sure you are meant to be here? Maybe you shouldn't be here'. I was taken aback at his manner but I explained that we had two bookings. And that a new booking starting today. So we were told we would need to re-cut our keys. The staff then challenged this. His attitude was hostile. I could not understand why.
I explained we were being kept in the same room. I had checked both bookings on arrival and discussed with staff we met on arrival. The staff then said, ' You are owing some money. Pay up!'. I was surprised. I asked what for and the staff refused to say why. I told the staff I had checked both bookings on arrival and everything was said to be fine. I asked where was the problem, he just said 'Pay up'. I said let me check my emails incase I had missed something. He started humming.
All this while, my kids were there watching and hearing. I didn't want them getting worried. I stayed calm trying to make sense of what was happening.
I checked my emails, texts etc. I could find nothing. I informed the member of staff that i had no information about owing money. Again I asked what i was owing for and this staff bluntly refused to say why and went on to mock me stating if i didn't pay, i would be stranded for the night. I asked to speak to a manager and the staff started screaming at me 'I am the manager'. 'You have no-o else to speak too' said with a gleeful laugh. 'I am the manager, no money...bye-bye' he said altering the pitch of his voice. I tried calling customer service, he overheard bits of the recorded voice and started laughing and mocking me for getting the wrong extension. I stepped out with my kids to try more numbers. So I could speak without interruption. All I got where recorded messages.. offices were closed.
On not being able to speak to anyone, at that time of the night being in a town i knew no-one and fearing that if we didn't sleep in the hotel that night that he would cancel the rest of our booking. I paid the money i was 'owing' to get access to my room and get a place for my kids to sleep. I felt very vulnerable and unsafe. I was confused and upset. It felt surreal.
This staff was aggressive and very open with what sounded and felt like dislike. I had never met him before that night. I was really unsettled and disturbed about that interaction..the viciousness from a stranger. From a staff member of whom i was a guest at the establishment where he was working and apparently in-charge of at the time.
In all of 16 years of using and over 64 stays in Premier Inns across the UK, i have never encountered that sort of treatment or person at ANY Premier Inn. I am now put off Premier Inn. At night time, Premier Inn completely shuts down and you only have the person manning the desk as a contact. I don't ever want to feel that vulnerable and unsafe ever again. At the mercy of one person. I don't want anyone to ever go through that. As long as that staff member remains there, it would happen again to someone else. Avoid that...
Read moreI spent five nights at the hotel with my family on holiday in August. What strikes one immediately is the tranquil environment around the hotel despite it being in a business park; there is no interruption to one's stay from noise along the road or the nearby buildings. Becky and Tanisha, the staff at the front desk in the morning, were amazing and friendly to us. They greeted us positively each morning with a genuine "how are you" as we went for breakfast. We deeply appreciated the lovely surprise on our bed one day after the room was cleaned to a good standard. We selected standard rooms with plenty of space and got what one would expect from a Premier Inn room: super comfortable bed, chaise longue on one end, TV, bathroom with shower, hairdryer, kettle for making tea, and desk with chair for working. The shower was at a good pressure, the air conditioning was fine for that time of the year, and the room was clean. We got the Meal Deal covering breakfast and dinner at the nearby Beefeater restaurant.
One can access shops nearby on foot at Sainsbury's across the road, Aldi and Morrison's is a bit further on.
For public transport from Weymouth station, the hotel is situated about 15 minutes away by bus - use Google Maps to plan the route. The buses accept Contactless payments. For nearby activities, one can use the bus from the hotel to get to Weymouth beach, SEA LIFE Centre, Nothe Fort, and Nothe Gardens. One can also enjoy other restaurants at the Weymouth Esplanade for ice cream, fish and chips,...
Read moreIn summary, you know what you get with a premier inn as the price reflects this, which is part of the appeal. The location is excellent, easily accessible and quiet at night. Their are a few key standout members of staff and some who are just non-existant
The receptionist on evening arrival 30/10 was exceptional and offered a genuine warm welcome with a smile and was very personable.
The location is easy to find, and parking is round the rear of the hotel that is well lit. Number plate has to be registered at reception.
For the most part, the rooms were clean but lacked a little attention to detail. In the room there was an obvious long black hair on the tiles of the shower That should have been spotted and removed , as well as flecks of black dirt at the end of the bath basin.. on one of the mugs there was dried food residiue by the handle. However, none of this impeded the stay as everything else was clean and comfortable.
Breakfast is served in the beefeater across from the hotel, and guess the service can change depending on the day . I think some people may have had to order and then freshly cooked, but I dined at 9am and it was a buffet service , although it felt liked they rashioned the amount of food that was put out as it was quickly went through by the time people had their standard generous portions which meant continually topping up. The full offering on the menu was not available, and the staff didn't seem overally bothered by...
