I've stayed in a number of Premier Inn branches over the last decade or two and this has to be the dirtiest, most tired and dilapidated branch of any hotel brand, that I've ever stayed in, in any part of the UK! I have social anxiety and I don't like confrontation (because I tend to lack a filter, have a short fuse and may be rude when wound up, so I find it better to avoid conflict). I don't like to put people out and feel guilty for being difficult, even though I think that in this situation, I probably should have been. Even though it was wholly unacceptable, I still felt guilty about complaining. The staff were very polite, welcoming and friendly, but I felt that given the standard of the cleaning and the poor state of the furniture, that it would be pointless to ask to move rooms, because they would likely all be this dirty and run down. If this many corners were cut in one room, they'd be cut in all of the rooms. So I decided not to create an atmosphere or animosity when it was unlikely that the other rooms (if there were any available) would be any better. Everything was filthy. The skirting boards were all filthy. The carpet was filthy. The side table was falling apart. Some electrical sockets were not flush with the units or walls - an electrocution and fire hazard. The chair was full of crumbs and food. The furniture hadn't been moved in ages and therefore things like the skirting board behind the sofa bed were even more disgusting. The sofa bed was full of stains, the bed base was full of stains. One of the pillow cases was grey. There were short black hairs everywhere. There was dust everywhere. The vents (I'm not sure what they're for as it states there is no air con on the website) were caked in dust. The fan was covered in dust - on the covers, the controls, the head, the base and the blades, the coffee and tea tray was filthy and couldn't be used. Not one but two clothes hangers broke from the weight of a single shirt. There were six or eight rings (I forget), only four hangers and two were broken. The bedding had a blue stain (ink maybe) and a white stain like paint, tipex or toothpaste. The net curtain was mouldy or otherwise stained. The bathroom was the only clean area, but the seal beneath the opening glass door - which is accessible for cleaning - was filthy. The carpet didn't appear to be vacuumed and if it was, perhaps you need to empty your vacuum cleaners, if the suction is that bad that crumbs and bits of white stuff can't be picked up. It took me two hours with a packet of wet wipes to make the place feel acceptable. I'm mildly allergic to both species of common dust mites and some dust doesn't bother me, but it was so severely dusty that it really impacted my allergies, even with my antihistamines, eyes drops and steroid nasal spray. I didn't get a good night's sleep as I couldn't use the fan because it was so filthy. The room was very warm. I couldn't use it being that filthy. I tried to open the window, but it became too noisy. The hotel itself was very quiet inside though. There was ample parking and the free WiFi worked well. The vending machines are a complete rip off. £2.50 for a 500ml bottle of plain water. £1.80 for a 330ml can of Coke. I'm pretty sure you could charge much less and still make a profit. Those prices are literally extortionate. I will not be staying here again, ever. Unless the place is deep cleaned or fully refurbished. I don't like confrontation and I hate having to leave reviews like this, but at the end of the day the standard of cleaning, the standard of the furniture and the bedding etc., were all unacceptable and a room should NEVER pass a check to be rented out in that state. At the end of the day, I speak with my wallet. I won't use this branch again. I realise this will be a disappointing read for the branch, but I took pictures to back up my complaints. Corners are being cut, on a major scale. Housekeeping needs to improve - drastically. The whole place needs some TLC. It should be one star really, but the staff were nice.

In the hundreds of reviews I have written on Google, I rarely if ever leave bad ones. I think in this case I should - Premier Inn are renowned for setting the bar in the industry but feel this hotel lets them down a bit. On arrival at the hotel and accessing my room, I quickly noticed that despite closing the window, the noise from outside was really loud - I suspect due to failing window seals? I immediately contacted the gentleman on reception explaining that as a very light sleeper this would be a problem and asked if there was anything that could be done. He was very helpful and did offer me a different room, however the only room available was half an interlinked room - the other side of which was occupied by guests. Who were quite noisy with nothing but an internal door to block out the sound. Because of this, I elected to remain in my original room. I found the noise from the car park to be troublesome, car doors slamming, revving engines and cars speeding away down the slip road of the nearby A19 junction waking me at regular intervals during the night. Additionally, this draughty window also resulted in the room taking significant time to warm up and cooling very quickly when the heater turned off. This is in stark contrast to my recent stay at the chains Durham North hotel just a week earlier, which i found to be an absolute dream in comparison. Hopefully these maintenance issues will be ironed out during the ongoing refurb.

Stayed here for a couple of nights while visiting an industrial facility nearby. Located on a services area next to a Toby Carvery; with a KFC, McDonalds, Greggs and Dominoes Pizza adjacent, but no evening dinner options in-house and no bar. To be honest, and not wishing to sound snobbish, these aren’t options that I’d normally choose for dinner and so I wasn’t too enamoured with the location. Good news, however, is that the Wellington Inn in Wolviston is a decent pub, and only 10 minutes walk away. (Ask the Receptionist or Google!) My room was probably older than some and a little tired, but nevertheless clean, comfortable, and had a hot shower. All of the staff I interacted with were great. The in-house breakfast was really nice; freshly cooked food to order in a clean & fresh environment. Overall worthy of a 4-star review!

We booked two family rooms and were assigned two rooms next to one another as requested. The rooms were dusty, particularly the headboards. (See pics) There was dirt, dust and grime in every corner of the room. The window sill and window frame was mouldy. (This wasn't noticed until the next day as the curtains were closed when we arrived.) There were hairs on the toilet. Grime round the sink. I knew we were only there for one night and thought we would just get on with it. But when I looked under the bed for something and saw lots of sweets etc from previous guests - I was disgusted. The hallway didn't look like it had been hoovered in years. There was a hairball the size of a tennis ball in the corridor that we repeatedly walked past. (Cleaners were around going in and out of rooms.) Around the edges of the corridor the dust and dirt was so thick. ||||We paid for ultimate wifi - which was as good as useless. It was worse than the free wifi! We spoke to reception and they gave us a card to call someone else. We complained about the room, we were given a card to tell someone else. They just didn't seem interested. ||||I mentioned about the hairdryers not working in both rooms to be told that I wasn't using them correctly and that I had to hold a button in. One of them needed the button holding in, which I knew. However, the noise that came out of it, it was rattling and making noises like it was going to blow up. I borrowed the hairdryer from our second room. This one did not have a hold in button. But it just kept cutting in and out like it had a loose connection. Both seemed dangerous to me. ||||It is worth noting that we have been staying in Premier Inns in this location for over a decade. It used to be more frequent than it is now. However, we have never known them to be this disgusting. The rooms have been changed slightly. There is hardly anywhere to put stuff. Just a tiny rail for a few clothes. A tiny round table. A little ledge by the mirror that is so close to the door, it is tricky to get in and out. My 5 year old also hit his head on it as it is so close to the door. Family rooms used to be a lot bigger. These seem very small. With VERY little storage space. ||||I feel lucky that we didn't eat there as I would not trust the hygiene. I have logged a formal complaint through the card that we were given. Will wait to hear...

First day we checked in nice and easy. Got into the room and unfortunately it was awful. The bathroom was dirty with dust and dirt around the floor and walls. We had a family room which was large but very dusty and worn out. Both kids refused to sleep on the extra camp bed provided as it was uncomfortable so I slept on it to keep the peace. It was higher at the top, than the bottom, hard and lumpy. After the worst nights sleep i pulled back the sheets to see what was up with the bed and it was completely destroyed. The lining ripped, the springs broken. It should not have been in use. There was mould on the net curtains and the bed side tables were falling apart, with screws exposed. I went to reception and explained the situation and the receptionist was incredibly helpful. I offered to show all the defects but she seemed to already be aware and unsuprised. She kindly moved us to another room, one of the refurbished rooms and although much smaller it was perfectly adequate and comfortable. The only let down on this room was that there was no aircon which would have been nice with 4 people in the room. A fan was supplied but its noisy to sleep with. Breakfast was lovely. Nice facilities and very helpful staff. A nice selection is available and they have a nice selection that's allergy friendly. The only let down on our stay was the first room we were given which in honesty should not be used until they are refurbished especially since its the same price. We had just come from a stay in Premier inn worksop which was fantastic so we had simular expectations but sadly were disappointed. The staff seems to be aware already of the problems and seemed disappointed like they have raised this to corporate but nothing has been done. I hope they are eventually...
