Would have given 3 stars but the view was beautiful and food was scrumptious as well. The view of the estate itself is remarkable . The beauty around with deers is such sooting to sore eyes :) . The view is just splendid as it's fresh and calming walking around , enjoying the sun and cool breeze . But what made it horrible is the lack of attention they gave to the room we were given !!
I really had no expectations of such sort after booking this royal castle estate !!! As you paid for the Room which is on a luxury side and you expect to be treated just like that .... This experience let me down though.
Utterly disappointed with the room as it was not cleaned , got Allergy instead on my face and was itching during my stay so put a sign for cleaning but even after putting a sign for cleaning , they did not do anything , NOTHING AT ALL !!! When i came back in the evening it was just the same as i left so you can not even ask them to do it again because there is no staff available !!!!! If you don't clean it why you keep a card for cleaning there ???? Very much disappointed with such conduct from such highly paid estate !
The Webs were not cleaned !! The dusting was poor as there were spider webs hanging on the bedroom wall and in the loung area too which i thought was not something you pay for to enjoy a luxury experience !!!!!! Terrible as there were spiders in the bathroom and spider web under the sink as well !!! Very bad service.
There was a spider in one of the bathrobs which is definetly not exceptable at all after paying for a costly estate like this !!!! :(( It's very dangerous as well !! It really made me angry as it was a suprise vacation !! It was so scary as it was going in the gown and i had to kill it !! This is a safety hazard after paying a good amount of money which is expensive as well so you expect a luxury and comfortable stay not a scary room not cleaned and spider webs are there !!
Hope they rectify this as room service does not clean throughly , for they charge you for everything even the Teddy Bear in your room on your Arrival !! I understand that they promote their stuff but i thought it was complimentary as a good gesture to their Guests in a Luxury Estate like this !!! AS MANY other High End hotels do !!
Would definetly like to VISIT AGAIN but i hope They pay SERIOUS ATTENTION to the cleanliness of the room and bathroom SO THERE ARE NO SPIDERS SITTING IN YOUR BATH GOWNS :(( It was utterly scary and not safe for someone who does see spider in the gown.
Food was lovely , ambiance was awesome , view around is just wow ,out of the world ,Calm and Quiet , You can enjoy at night which is phenomenal♡♡♡♡♡ . You can walk around enjoying the silence and beautiful clear sky with hundreds of stars which you can not see in the City sadly.
Overall i loved the food , the interior of the estate is beautiful other than sofas as most of them were worned out and in pretty bad shape after being used too much unfortunately !! But there are beautiful huge sitting rooms where you can enjoy fireplace and watch the view outside with a lovely drink :) or chat with your loved ones .... ♡ They got a mini cinema too which i did not have time to explore though. They got a drawing section for children as well where you can paint or colour and enjoy some family time...
Read moreThis was an anniversary. repeat visit, and the hotel knew this. On arrival, my husband was asked if it was his birthday….. He corrected the receptionist and that wasn’t mentioned again. Staff were friendly enough- barman was lovely. But the service generally lacked warmth and didn’t feel sincere or genuine. At this level of hotel, there were just several things not up to scratch in terms of service. I asked for a Shirley Temple. The guy in the Terrace bar didn’t know how to make it and I had to tell him. He said he didn’t have any maraschino cherries- well they did have some in the main bar and I would’ve expected him to get some from the other bar or ask for some to be sent over. The food was ok in the Terrace but the steak tartare was extremely salty and there was barely a teaspoon of steak cubes in it. We were seated and then the table next to us, who were seated after us ordered and received their food before us. The food was hit and miss. The salt cod beignets were very good indeed. The duck & Madeira custard missed the mark. The mussels were excellent. The Spa is the big attraction and we enjoyed it, but the Salt steam room was out of order. I ordered coffees outside the Spa to be told that the coffee machine was broken. Breakfast is served until 10.30. We arrived at 10.15 and received positively surly service by a waitress who clearly wanted to get us out asap. My husband’s veggie breakfast was missing an item. At this level, these things aren’t acceptable. What Swinton Park lacks is a sense of hospitality. This is an easy fix. Hospitality, a genuine welcome is lacking. What would really help would be a visible manager or host with some personality to welcome guests and ‘host’ the experience. You arrive at this magnificent ‘castle’ with high expectations. They have got lots of it spot on- fresh flowers everywhere, thoughtful touches in the rooms, very well kept and smart. If they could just get the welcome & warmth right, this would be...
Read moreVery poor - especially given the price! - Sunday lunch in Samuel’s restaurant. Lovely surroundings but variable service (twice waiting ten minutes for basic condiments after food arrived for example ) and most of all the poor quality of the food was a huge disappointment.
Most of it was barely warm, including soup, very bland tasteless chicken parfait, cool soggy vegetables and tasteless roast beef, cold Yorkshire pudding and same gravy for all meats. Cold plates.
We asked for peas for someone who couldn’t eat the standard veg but they never appeared.
I sent my main back and when it returned it was only a little better on temperature - strangely the carrots were piping hot - and the now burnt tough oily Yorkshire left such a bad taste in my mouth I was desperate to brush my teeth.
Asked for a small glass of red and was served a medium one but didn’t realise till I saw the bill - £11! Small Prosecco £10 that’s some mark-up way over the norm.
Lots of the food went uneaten because it was inedible - you’d think when a kitchen gets lots of food back it’d ring alarm bells and in an establishment like this a manager might come and investigate what was wrong.
They took 10% off the bill but really that was inadequate compensation for the very sub-standard offering. We didn’t really feel they were bothered.
Then we accidentally miscalculated the bill split by £5.50 and they still chased that up - adding to the bad taste in the mouth. Worst £85 ( 2 courses after the reduction that I’ve spent in...
