We stayed at The Buttermere Court Hotel pretty soon after lockdown eased and it was just the break we needed. And what an absolute gem of a place!! With Buttermere only a 5 minute walk away, it is an idyllic location. There are plenty of gorgeous walks locally, Buttermere, Crummock and Rannadale to name a few, but also it wasn't too far from Keswick and Cockermouth too. We walked around Buttermere late in the evening one day and it only finally started to get dark at 11pm! It was absolutely stunning. The hotel has recently been renovated and our room was beautifully decorated, with gorgeous views of the Lake District. The bed was super comfy and the room had everything we needed. Lovely that it was dog friendly too! The breakfasts were fantastic with a huge range of dishes made to order, we both had Cumbrian full breakfasts and they were really substantial. Perfect for a day out walking! We ate at the bar attached to the hotel too, which I think is called the High Stile Kitchen... it was so good we ate there the next day again! The bar was fully stocked and very impressive, they have lots of picnic benches in their pretty beer garden too. We were very impressed with all the staff throughout our stay. Obviously it is strange times going forward, but they made every effort to make us feel welcome and at ease. The staff all wore masks and we noticed that they were constantly cleaning the bar area, which is great to see. I would definitely stay here again and will be recommending to...
Read moreI spent two nights here in a twin room. From the very start, the staff were accomodating as the nights were not consecutive (due to wrapping a camping trip), but were happy to make an exception to their minimum two night stay policy. We then had to adjust our plans and move the second night a day earlier than planned, which again they were more than happy to do, which was a pleasant surprise given we showed up on the day we wanted to stay for the second night. The staff were also very friendly, so I couldn't ask for more in this regard.
We stayed in two different twin rooms. The rooms themselves were very spacious, well equipped and clean. One of the beds was a bit creaky, but servicable. The electric showers were however a weak point - they seemed unable to maintain a constant temperature and it's not an exaggeration to say they veered from cold to scalding hot. The supplied shower gel bottles were also nigh on impossible to open due to the foil caps. All in all I probably spent twice as long in the shower as I needed to because of these reasons - not good for the hotels bills or the environment!
Food wise, we had breakfast and dinner at the hotel. Breakfasts were a particular highlight - I'd strongly recommend the Cumbrian breakfast, which was cooked to perfection. Dinners were also good. Speed of service could have been better, but didn't really matter too much as we weren't in a rush.
All in all, I really enjoyed my stay here, and would happily...
Read moreJust returned after a short 2 night stay, wish it was longer! This beautiful hotel is in a remote but outstanding location, with direct access to the Lake and other fabulous local walks. Stayed in 2 bedroom apartment, it was spacious but cosy, spotless with incredible views and very comfortable beds, shower was a bit temperamental but we eventually got the hang of it.||We had two amazing breakfasts with lots of choice and quality local produce. We also enjoyed a lovely evening meal with great selection of drinks. As hotel guests we also had access to the Lounge, which was a lovely space to chill out with our puppy away from the bar, have a few drinks and play cards/board games together.||What really stood out to us and makes this hotel so amazing is the friendly welcome you get from all the team from the moment you walk through the door and we experienced this throughout our whole stay - nothing was too much trouble. Every staff member was genuinely helpful, friendly and it made us feel very welcome. Our pup got VIP experience with plenty of cuddles and lots of little treats! They all work really hard - but still had time to connect with guests, which is so refreshing. ||We will certainly return to this lovely little gem.||Free Car Park for Guests|Use of private lounge|Lovely postcards and shortbread in...
