We called for lunch i had soup to start which was excellent and we both had jacket potato which were very nice indeed, however I didn't get a side salad with my chilli one but the wife did with her cheese one which we thought was rather odd and it did not state so on the menu or if it did we didn't notice it.....🤔 plus, everything was brought out together which meant that if we had not sent the jacket potatos back (which we did) my jacket would have been cold ish and my wife would have finished her main before I started mine which again we thought was odd 🤔 even though the lady out front (when we challenged it) tried to explain "that's the way we do it we send everything out together" (or words to that effect) that may be so and they are entitled to do whatever they want to as it's there business (as we are entitled not to return) but it doesn't make it right 🤔 we also thought it was rather over priced. I give 5 star to the chef / chefs for the excellent food (well done 👍) and I minus 2 star for the general...
Read moreAfter a lovely walk around Buttermere We couldn't decide cafe or pub. So opted for cafe. First impression very clean lovely decor. Didn't have mask,so pulled t shirt over face to enter. Told by young girl that I couldn't enter unless I had a mask, this is NOT what Boris has been rattling on for the last year( FACE COVERINGS!! ) One of my group had a spare, if it wasn't for several already ordering then we would have eaten at the pub, which we did go for a drink afterwards to a much for friendly atmosphere. Top tip, as you are now and going to busy for the rest of the summer put your menu outside on a board so that customers can read and choose before entering without causing a queue. The menu by the till was so small it was difficult to read. The coffee was good. Sandwiches very fresh apart from the salad (lettuce) was past it's best. Would I come again No, go to the pub opposite due to the attitude of some staff members. Another top tip, there's a way of saying things without...
Read moreAs soon as we turned up in the car park we was made to feel unwelcome. As soon as we had parked up a young man tapped on the window and quite abruptly said 'are you actually using the cafe or are you just going for a jolly! Not a great start. As we entered the cafe to find a table to sit at the young girl serving just stared a and shook her head at us(we was wearing face coverings at the time). When we asked what the problem was apparently we was meant to wait in line and be shown a table. No signage anywhere stating this nor a proper system for queuing to be served. And on top of it the bacon sandwiches where terrible, bread was dry with some cheap margarine spread on it. And the weakest cup of tea I've ever had! Are you reusing tea bags? I understand people are under pressure at the moment but if you carry on treating your customers with contempt you will soon have no customers! I for one won't be...
