Liked: The owners were lovely and communicated with us well, the view was amazing and there was a good amount of privacy between the pitches! The facilities were decent enough. Weād want to stay again but only in fair weather.
Disliked: Despite claiming to be a quiet / adult only site, there were rowdy campers who were very loud well past the curfew of 10pm. They also brought a baby with them, so these factors did disturb the peaceful scenery somewhat and was disappointing when we had hoped for a quiet site.
The pitches were mowed but the cut grass was just left on the pitches so dead grass was constantly tracked and blown into the tent. Raking it to the side or collecting it would have made a huge difference. I think Ā£40 per night for a non-electric grass pitch is rather steep considering these factors werenāt thought about.
We adored the location and the owners seemed nice but had the weather not been amazing I donāt think it would have been worth the price, which is a shame because it was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe stayed in our own campervan so could not rate the rooms (shepherds huts or glamping bells). Great communication via text, nothing too much trouble.
The site...Awesome, spacious pitches that were hedge lined so nice & private, most are sloping but levelled the vehicle very easily, we stayed in Pitch 10 at the top of the site, clear open views across the site & looking over Rutland water. the showers & toilet block are of shed construction & drafty, however hot showers & cleaned to a high standard.
very clean site & well spaced out, we were there for a mini honeymoon & loved it. Animals - 20 mins walk to the Osprey hides (pay to get into the nature reserve), we saw Osprey catching fish, kingfisher, otters were in the area & sighted (sadly not by us). from our pitch we saw kestrals, red kites & a barn owl, all over the campsite at various times during the day.
Would we come back.... definite YES..... logged as a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm a little lazy so don't often leave a review, however, I felt it was necessary for my recent stay at The Hide. If you are thinking of booking just do it. You won't regret it. Why? Well it's as close as you will get to being on a vineyard in the South of France, but in this country. The views are breathtakingly spectacular. Matt and Nat are the perfect hosts and the thing I like the most about it is how relaxed it all feels. As a seasoned camper, I've stayed at many a site but this one is something extra special. It's relaxed, the facilities are plush and of excellent standard. It also has a quirky but in a good way feel about it that's hard to explain. Firepits are allowed and the birdsong in the morning will make your heart sing. Honestly, try it. You'll love it and will want to come back. Thanks for wonderful stay guys and see...
