Firstly, all of the staff without exception were friendly, courteous and efficient. This also applies to the adjoining Brewer's Fayre. The room itself was clean and and dust free. The bathroom was also clean and the shower works well. The towels were a little bit past their prime, but they were undoubtedly both clean and fresh. The continental breakfast too was fine. Not amazing, but probably due to the turnover, it all seemed fresher than many. Certainly nothing to complain about.|The exterior of the building is rather tired and could undoubtedly do with a refresh. The only real negative is that my room was very close to the A589. As a result, it could gets quite noisy, especially late at night/very early morning as it is on one of the arterial routes to the city. The windows to the room were double glazed and there is also secondary glazing. However, in keeping with the general fabric of the building, they're past their best and could do with replacing with something more efficient. The noise of traffic can at times, be intrusive. In keeping with all of the Premier Inns that I've stayed in, the Ultimate WiFi is incredibly slow and I would certainly not advocate anyone paying for it. The only benefit I can see over the free version, is that once signed in, you're in for the day.|The parking is currently 'free'. However, I feel so it should be given the costs of the rooms and facilities on offer. A number of Premier Inns have started charging for car parking which is extremely mean spirited. I understand that there are plans to extend this to all branches in the future. An additional £6.00 or so per day parking fee just about tips the cost into the same amount as the Holiday Inn, which may influence my choice in the future.||Overall, this is was a comfortable stay and I would certainly return here, which is more than I can say about some of the other branches. Again, the friendlies of the staff is a real positive here and it really does make...
Read moreYou can't go far wrong with premier inns, but this one wasn't as good as the usual standard. Staff are brilliant, so friendly and helpful and location is good (although as of July 2022 there are fairly extensive roadworks on the one way system so best to know the back roads or hop on the motorway for a junction to get to South of the city). There are 3/4 family parking spots and a couple of disabled spots right in front of the building which worked great for us in a family room. The room we had was really in need of a deep clean and repaint with some mould in the bathroom ceiling and excess dust in the corners of the ceiling in the main room, although the rest of the room was clean, so this is just more a sign of it needing a refresh and repaint etc. Brewers fayre next door had good food and great staff. Also in need of a bit of a refresh and had a few options not available when we stayed, but still good. There's a proper softplay in the restaurant, 3.50 per child although toddlers in the toddler area are free entry. We didn't end up using it due to timings but it looked good. It wasn't open during late breakfast time. Kids dinners were
I don't know if the mould in the bathroom was contained to room 15 or if it's an issue in all bathrooms but I would say it was a moderate issue. It was contained to the ceiling mostly in a couple of spots, but one of the areas was a good 30cm circle of moderate mould spots. Ultimately I would stay here again for the odd night or two despite...
Read moreAwful awful awful with the most unhelpful impolite receptionist I've ever come across. This "person," called Amy, is the most angry, argumentative, unkind, unsympathetic individual I have ever met. Her attitude was disgusting and she gives Travelodge a VERY bad name. She has clearly had no staff/customer service training at all. After booking a cot for our 5 months old baby during our 1 night stay, this woman got all grumpy and told us it wasn't her fault that it wasn't on her system. She then said she didn't even know if they had one or what it looks like. After about 30 mins of her being horrible to my wife and making her cry, she brought a cot and told me to build it as she said "I've got no idea how to do it and it's not my job!" She then started shouting, thus making our baby cry and scream and said we were "hassling her!" When I said, I just want you to help us as she didn't know about a mattress for the cot or if she could give us a sheet for it - her reply was, and I quote, "For God's sake, what do you want me to do?? It's not my fault!" Disgraceful behaviour. We then left (while she actually flung insults at us!) and stayed at a Premier Inn in Lancaster. This was around 11pm, with a crying wife and screaming baby. Travelodge, you should be ashamed of yourselves, employing this...
