My wife and I called into a Brewers Fayre restaurant in Lancaster to break our journey home and have an evening meal. On entering the restaurant we were greeted by the waiter, by him saying "Have you booked?" I said, "No sorry we haven't booked." The very curt waiter huffed and said "Follow me". He marched off and showed us to a table. "Sit here," said the waiter and he walked off. I didnt like his attitude. The table was in a dark corner and poorly lit. We didn't like the position of the table, so we moved to the next table, a more pleasant table with light above it. We made ourselves comfortable, and read the menu to decided upon our choice of evening meal. I ordered drinks at the bar, returned to our table and continued reading the menu. I returned to the bar again to order food and another waiter called Barry, said from across the other side of the bar. " Well, do you want serving or not?" I hadn't heard him say "Who's next." "Sorry," I said. "I didn't hear you, I wear hearing aids." "Come over to this till," he said, waving his arms at me. I moved around the bar and placed my order and paid. The waiter, Barry, then realised that we had moved tables, with his permission! "This is table number 31." He said." Yours is number 30, 31 is booked, yours is number 30. You'll have to move." I said. "There isn't a reserved sign, and number 30 is dark and uninviting, we would prefer to sit and eat where we are at table number 31 please. "You've got an hour, I'll need the table back at 6pm." He said." "Thank you, we'll sit here at table 31. I replied. The time was then 5.15pm. Our food arrived very quickly, and it was very good, so we ate it, and left the restaurant. On reflection, we will not return to that restaurant again. The atmosphere was unpleasant and noisy, so the staff had to shout at each other all the time when speaking to customers and their colleagues. After an arduous day and long drive, we did not expect to be treated as we were. The 'male' staff were very rude with an attitude problem, so unfortunately we will not return to that particular Brewers Fayre again. Very...
Read moreAVOID BREAKFAST! Came into this place for breakfast as soon as I walked in the young girl said ‘come to the till’ so we did & payed for breakfast, didn’t tell us how they operated like where the hot food was if they'd come take our order etc… as I thought it was on buffet style but there was no hot food anywhere. We then found the continental which was nice but ran out of a few items like coffee machine wasn’t working, no Nutella, no small plates etc… We then asked the young girl how do we get our hot food she said ‘we’ll come take your order soon’ 2 minutes later the manager came over to take our order. 5 minutes later the manager brang our food out, I was shocked that a chef / manager could think it was acceptable to bring out eggs like that!! 🤢🤮. Not only that but the continental what we had EATEN beforehand the manager couldn’t even be bothered to take away the dirty plates!! He just pushed them over and left them so the hole time we sat there with dirty places In front of us while we’re trying to eat our hot food. Back to the hot breakfast , it was just disgusting every mouthful we took but I didn’t fancy wasting £20. After this food my stomach was turning all day so I honestly wouldn’t advise here. Go somewhere like mc Donald’s for breakfast. Its round the corner and a lot tastier as well as cheaper !! 💵 I couldn’t eat anymore apart from the beans, bacon & tomatoes so we decided to leave, the young girl looked at us didn’t even ask us how the breakfast was or say thank you , have a nice day etc, you know the general communication your supposed to have with your customers. We’d never come back here, from start to finish I just found the manager & young girl quite rude as they clearly don’t care about how the food is presented, or how they speak to customers. We’ve been here a couple of times to see if they got any better but never again!! seems as if it’s just got...
Read moreServed by a wonderful gentleman called Gazza lovely oxford lad who tried above and beyond any expectation to fulfil our requirements. One manager tried what he could and asked the kitchen much to my amazement scampi could not be added to steak so we paid for an additional meal £11.19 just to get the required scampi. They couldn’t change chips to plain potato dippers so paid £5.09 for this too (they didn’t offer fries or chip’s without skin. Unfortunately is this is not an option for us. Coleslaw was missing, accidents happen. Everything was as expected. Besides my utter disgust at one one manger Mark over looking the above Gaz whilst serving us with complete attention on us as the customer.
Whilst waiting for our meal this Mark was stomping around the restaurant moving the salt, peeper, menu, cutlery he either desired attention or wanted to look busy. My opinion as a customer and this evening observations Mark is clearly a bully and wants to progress and will throw anyone under the bus in his path, it was visible how uncomfortable staff were in his presence. Other customers could clearly see this too.
Shocking really… Thank you Gazza for a wonderful service ❤️
Edit: I originally scored a 4/5 for the benefit of the rest of the staff. However, we returned for breakfast due to staying at the premier inn next door. The same manager was on. He felt the need to embarrass us as customers, refused to serve an already paid for breakfast. Called us liars as he had seen this FACTUAL review. Complaining he was alone, and he felt ‘threatened’ unnecessarily pointing out the cameras. He is clearly a power hungry bully who doesn’t like the truth, maybe if he accepted feedback staff would be happy to work with him and staff retention...
