This is the second time I've stayed here for my work's Christmas do. The hotel rooms are lovely...spacious, stylish and well equipped. The facilities are brilliant and the staff are attentive and helpful. The reason for only 4 stars (I would have given 4.5 if I could) is because unfortunately the food I had in the restaurant on the first night, and also the food served during the day and evening of the company day was not great. I had the mushroom risotto in the restaurant and it was extremely bland and had a weird, almost soapy taste to it. I couldn't eat it. When I mentioned to the waiter, he didn't even hesitate to offer me a different dish, which I had and this was a very tasty lasagne. So I was happy with the customer service here. Unfortunately the lunch during the day and the 'Street food' served during the evening of my work's do was not to my liking at all...which was a shame because everything else was fab. Breakfast was very good with a wide choice from cereals to continental to a full English. The waiters are attentive and friendly.
I had booked myself in for an additional night after my work's do, and treated myself to some spa treatments in the Habit Elimis Spa. This was AMAZING! Penny was very quick to respond to my online booking and Toyah, who did my treatments, was fab! I felt totally relaxed. I enjoyed the pool - although it was a little on the cool side -and the steam room was lovely.
Another reason for not giving 5 stars was a little incident with room service where, even though I specifically asked the question around pricing, food type etc. I was not given the full and correct information. My order had additional items that I didn't order and the bill was a lot more than I was expecting due to a higher price being put on the pizza and a service charge which was not explained to me and was also not on the information sheet/ room service menu given to me at point of check in. However, the lady who brought my pizza to my room sorted it out very quickly and to my satisfaction so it was ok in the end.
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel for an event or if you just want a realxing night away with the...
Read moreA highly convenient hotel for where we were visiting. Close to the airport, as well as the race circuit and a few other event spaces.
The hotel is incredibly well soundproofed to the outside, with absolutely no hint of any of the arriving/departing aircraft once you're inside.
The carpark seemed extremely full for the amount of rooms/people staying and I suspect some people pay the parking costs when the fly out of the airport. This, obviously, clogs the carpark & means spaces are at a premium. Unfortunately this is exacerbated by extremely poorly marked bays - the bays are block paving and the 'lines' are low contrast bricks which are impossible to see from inside the car in the wet and/or dark meaning many people were, understandably, well out of their space.
Check in was uneventful, with cracking service by the gentleman on the desk who assisted us with a number of queries & requests.
The room was of a good size, and reasonably well soundproofed to the corridor. The furnishings were a little tired in places, but the bed was a good size & comfortable.
One notable downside to the room was the bathroom. The dividing wall had frosted glass between the room & the loo, which is fine unless you need to get up in the middle of the night, but you can't switch the light on in the bathroom without waking up your other half. The door also has a roller ball catch, which is rather noisy at 02:00hrs.
The main door to the room also needs some attention, as it is literally impossible to close quietly - I imagine to the annoyance of other guests. The gaps around the door also let in quite a lot of light all the way round, and these gaps also meant sound could easily travel into the room from the corridor.
The buffet breakfast was good. Plenty of choice & options - there's also a gluten free section, with individually sealed options & a dedicated (& labelled) gluten free toaster.
All in all pretty good, just needs a bit more thought put in...
Read more(The Spa Experience) I would not call this a spa Experience. It was very basic more like a local Gym.The pool was very small and overlooked by gym members doing a work out which left you feeling very uncomfortable and not wanting to stay in the pool for long, there were minimal sun lounger's available and there was nowhere else to relax. We were booked in for 2 Hot Stones treatments and when we arrived were told these were not available and had to have what was available. The massage was nice but the room was so small and crammed once inside. We also booked in for a manicure and had our nails painted I have to say I was shocked to see where we had layed on the massage bed when having the massages was where our manicure and nails were painted, Sat on chairs arms across the bed with the Beauticians the other side. We were then told not to touch anything for an hr whilst our nails dried which was an impossible task as we were having lunch after and had to make our journey home. I have had several manicures at various locations and my nails have been touch dry when leaving and have lasted for several weeks without chips or smears. Again having paid The price we were restricted to The choice of colours on offer and having to choose a colour we did not really want. The Spa day was a gift for my Birthday and I have to say when I found out what it had cost I was very shocked I certainly would not recommended this to anybody. We did stay and have lunch and the food was lovely and value for money and all the staff...
