Costa Coffee — Restaurant in North West Leicestershire

I've been there few times, as I work nearby. Prices are ridiculous (motorway prices), but it's not employees fault. Real reason why they got only one star is their customers service, actually I was served by a manager today (which I don't want to disclose full name in public-yes she had a full name on her name tag), and I was shocked. Wanted to pay with my Costa app, had more than enough money in it, she took my money from the account and said that I haven't paid, where I had a proof of it on my Costa card statement. I was told to pay "with real money"... How unpleasant, especially for a loyal Costa customer.

To give you an overview of my situation. I was a barista for nearly three years in one of the coffee chains. I was trained that customer is always right and I have always tried to resolve these sort of situations by offering free coffee or a snack, anything to keep customer happy, just because a happy customer is a non complaing customer. Bear in mind that cost of a coffee is very low!! It cost about £0.20 to do a simple latte!!!!

If I was the owner of this business I'd feel like a moron for employing 5 staff to be manning one of three counters. The staff then allow a gaggle of customers who have already paid to guess which end of the long counter their coffee is going to be brought to, where a gormless worker will meekly say what they are holding, look up and down the gaggle of confused and irritated customers expecting them to hear them and come forward.

If Costa wasn't blowing so much money on pointless staff then maybe they wouldn't be charging so much for a cup of...

Costa coffee is probably my favourite coffee 'on the go' or in a cafe. However, although I use this quite often when up & down the M1, the service never improves. The Staff are pleasant enough but do lack finesse. I have to ask everyone for things such as a cutlery or serviettes. They are very slow to clear tables and today, the girl came to clear a mountain of dirty cups, etc but left the spillage and other rubbish on the table!
