Disaster christening dinner. Recently I booked this venue for 20 people, private fine dining supposed to be. We ordered proseco at arrival, canapés and 3 corse meal. I did same thing in a past before pandemic and everything went well and I was expecting to be same or better. Everything was planned properly with the event manager Sam. When we arrived at the restaurant no proseco, my guests supposed to be welcoming with proseco but there was nothing ready for them. When I asked about proseco after a while a server handed me 2 bottles of proseco and I had to deal with it. Didn’t bother me to much so I dealt with the situation myself hopping the rest will be fine. We ordered the food on a piece of paper as they didn’t bother to take orders and we handed to the server. Mean while waiting for the food again no one was bothered to take drinks orders. 1st course arrived and it was very nice and tasty, 2nd course did the same, I was very happy that my guests enjoyed their food and I forgot about the bad start with proseco. The main course was a shock, the food was cold and overcooked, we had pork, stake and chicken across the table. The stake was dry like any thing on the plate and we were supposed to be be charge a premium £4 supplement charge for this, the pork was impossible to be cut with the cutlery provided. Complete nightmare for the people who have been unfortunate to order this 2 dishes. My partner plate was impossible to be ate and I sent it back, which it never been replaced. She had to share my plate. The staff this time was more missing than the start of the meal. This was the turning point when the fine dining I ordered became in to painful dining experience. I believe the chef went home just before the main dinner and left the maintenance guy to cook the food for us. I worked in this business before and I never seen this horrible service or serve disgusting food to anyone one, in fact you where getting sacked only for forgetting serving the proseco. However after this disgusting dinner experience I emailed Sam the event manager about the experience and her reply to me after 4 days, was ,, sorry, thank you for the feedback and here is the full bill you have to pay,,. Like nothing really happened. I ordered food that arrived cold and disgusting, drinks that i have to serve my self, and charged almost £60 per person this including meals, welcome drinks and canapés. I had the same request in the past and it was lovely, food, drinks and service and that’s why we went back there with a good memory and hopping for the best but the Ansty hall did nothing but to disrespect me and my guests by serving horrible food. After this complaint the hotel management decided to take off £10 per person like doing me a favour. To hotel’s management: If you and your employees cannot handle a order like this stop offering to the people and send them where they can get the service and quality they deserve, people don’t want to have a horrible experience and to eat discussing food for £10 discount. And the final thing maybe try giving a chance to housekeeping department in the kitchen, I strongly believe they will manage to make more edible food then your actual...
Read moreFrom the moment we arrived the hospitality was non existent. Asked for access to a room to get ready for a Wedding. On arrival we were told that this was not a promise so sorry can’t help. Bar was empty of staff and guests yet the bar top was covered in dirty glasses. No lemonade on draught, bar staff not trained on how to use the machine to pour the £6 glass of Guinness. Outside main entrance beer bottles and glasses in hedgerows, still there 24 hours later. Broken glass on steps to entrance. No lighting around building to get you to your room, a member of staff has to guide you over the broken paving slabs in the dark. Breakfast room is dirty, cutlery on the floor, work folders on tables. The staff gave no welcome whatsoever, walk over and stare at you until you tell them what you want. Have to ask for more coffee, condiments, toast. Breakfast is £18 if not included in your price. The breakfast is not fresh, it is clearly under a hot light. 5 guests and 5 hard yolked eggs. Absolutely no hospitality whatsoever. When the waitress gave me my breakfast bill I said I would discuss it with the Receptionist as she was also front of house Manager. Very rude lady who several times spoke over me and said as we had eaten half the breakfast we should pay half price. No justification of their pricing. Drinks ridiculous prices, food terrible and over priced and staff are in serious need of training in hospitality. Big sign outside the Hotel saying 25 years of hospitality, you need to understand the difference between service and hospitality, for this I blame the employer not the clearly untrained staff. The hotel is dirty throughout, walls have been repeatedly painted over ancient wall paper. The rail alongside our dining table was thick with dust. It was Fawlty Towers standard. I expect a comfy bed, hot shower and a good breakfast as standard. Experience that you give is your hospitality and this Hotel is hugely lacking in this area. This is the first time I have ever written a bad review as I always like to give people an opportunity to put things right, unfortunately no response from the Hotel. Big 0/10 from me. Perhaps the owners should pop up to Aston Lodge, which was the wedding venue and not far and see what hospitality really is. Hospitality is free and you should not be using it as a selling point. Worst hospitality...
Read moreWell booked on Secret Escapes thinking this would be a nice break in a nice hotel at a sensible price . On arrival a nice drive and arrival at an impressive building. We had found out it had an interesting history so were not disappointed when we walked into a delightful entrance and met with a exceptionally warm welcome. Our bags were carried to our manor house room and again were pleasantly surprised. A quaint not huge but lovely room well appointed and with a stunning vista out the window of the top of some of the trees in the sensational grounds . A wedding in the grounds gave us a spectacle to observe whilst we sat on the veranda enjoying some great cocktails served by some of the most attentive staff we have encountered anywhere. This theme ran through the hotel great staff attentive to a fault and this is a credit to the management and the staff . A walk around the grounds prior to dinner was a delight and into the church yard next door with horses and sheep in the fields was the perfect pre dinner preamble. Dinner was sublime 1 of us had the £75 pre fixed dinner selection most impressive starter ,main and dessert with pre starter snack ,petit four and tea and coffee to finish was well worth that figure see the pictures . The beef to die for the baked Alaska excellent and the crab starter really good . The other guest had soup , a salad and shared the alaska all superb too . All served yet again by super not too but just right levels of attention from the staff. Plenty of nice spaces inside and out to sit chat and enjoy the ambience. A great night's sleep on a really big comfortable bed was followed by a superb service and selection at breakfast, again the staff were helpful, polite and nothing was too much trouble. . A Grade 2 listed building has its limitations ie no lift and whilst the staircase is a work of art not for the elderly. That saying would I stay there in the Manor house oh yes at the drop of a hat . Great setting, great food and most of all probably the best staff we have come across all this year . We tipped heavily a thing I don't do often . We look forward to our next visit back there and thanks for keeping in the top 10% of hotel reviewers on this platform. See...
