Roaches Bunkhouse Group Accommodation — Hotel in Staffordshire Moorlands

We stayed at the bunkhouse for one night in February. It was easy to find on the road that leads up to the Roaches via Upper Hulme. Please do not be put off by the outside appearance!||There are rooms sectioned off by partitioning which house numerous bunk beds. We had a room for 2 which contained a bunk bed & a shelf. Small but adequate for an overnight stay, the bunks were very comfy. There are toilets & showers (wait for the hot water to get through!), a common room with a wonderful log burner and tables, chairs,TV and a well equipped kitchen. Everything was clean.The owner Ken is a friendly chap & nothing is too much trouble.||It may be noisy as rooms are not "proper" rooms and you can hear people talking. It is popular with walkers & climbers. A good alternative to camping in the colder/wetter weather. Great walking from here over the Roaches & Staffordshire Moorlands. Great location, 15 minutes walk from the Roaches. ||Warm & comfortable. It is literally a bunk house. If you just want somewhere to get your head down, shower & shave, make a quick breakfast, pack-up for lunch this is perfect. Well kitted out & with a log burner in the lounge area. ||Better & worse than done YHA's I've stayed in. ||Overall it is what it is & I can't fault it for that. It's clean, warm & dry & has hot running water for showers which is all we wanted. ||All wash facilities are mixed gender though - you have been warned!! A group of us stayed there last weekend for my sisters hen weekend. We hired the whole place at a very reasonable price.|I was hugely impressed with the place. One or two bunks to a room. A large social area with log burner and an adequate kitchen with a large fridge that came in very useful.
