Very inexperienced staff who didn’t know what they were doing. We came at 12pm on bank holiday Monday and they had ran out of most pies, but were unable to tell us how many of us could have the pie they wanted. There were 7 of us in total and were repeatedly told that the couple who had ordered first couldn’t have their pies which made no sense to us. Then told there was only one chicken pie but 4 had ordered it but then said everyone else could have their food, how is this possible when there was only 1 chicken pie?? It was ridiculously confusing. We ended up telling them we would go elsewhere as the food isn’t cheap here so we wanted what we originally ordered. They refunded the first couple and then thought that the rest of us were still eating despite telling them we were all going. I’m not sure why they thought the couple who’d had the refund first were going to then sit and watch us eat our food?! The place had descended into chaos by the time we’d left, with a queue out the door, people asking where their drinks were as they still hadn’t received them even when they’d received their food 10 minutes before! They were told it was because they were busy but in my opinion that’s just not good enough. There was no system, there should have been someone on drinks, someone taking orders, someone running orders and someone clearing tables. Bonkers. I was glad to get out of the place. Will...

After a fantastic day trip, hiking from Hen Cloud to Bearstone Rock and back we came to the Roaches tea room for some food. We found some place outside, which is fine as we have had our dog with us, they are not allowed inside, but the weather was beautiful, so no problems at all. Actually we could still enjoy the view 👍. Food was served quite quickly and the portion size was more than satisfying for a really reasonable price. Actually I would have expected more. I have had chicken breast with creamy sauce, with garlic, mushroom and it was deliciously finished with herbs and boiled new potatoes or chunky chips It was very nice and I couldn't finish the portion. We have also been given for free, carrot with butter and herbs and cauliflower & broccoli backed with cheese.

The staff was very friendly, cleanliness in the whole restaurant and the toilet was also on a good level.

If I will be in the area again, I would definitely come back here again and will happily recommend this place to...

The food was lovely, and the tea selection was enjoyable, though it was bagged rather than loose leaf.

We visited around 1 pm when the tea house was moderately busy, with a few free tables and the rest occupied. Unfortunately, the ordering process was quite slow. Two young boys were managing the register, and it took about 12 minutes to place our order (a tea, sandwich, and scones), not including the time we waited in line. This delay was largely due to an issue with nearly being overcharged, which required re-entering our order. The front of house felt a bit chaotic without any adults visibly present, as the boys were managing customer service, taking orders and payments, and preparing drinks.

Our wait for food was longer than expected—52 minutes, with the tea arriving about five minutes later. While it’s clear they prioritized serving orders in the sequence they were received, it may have been more efficient to serve drinks and simpler...

Roaches Tea Room and Restaurant is a charming eatery in Staffordshire, ideally situated near the popular Roaches and Lud's Church walking trails. The venue boasts a rustic, countryside ambiance, with a beautiful blend of wood and stone, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Their menu caters to a variety of tastes, including gluten-free options, and features a delightful selection of sandwiches, cakes, teas, and coffee. Although the service can feel a bit limited due to the small staff, the warm atmosphere makes up for it. Restrooms are located outside, and there is ample parking available.

I really wanted to like this place as the location is so beautiful and the terrace overlooks a spectacular scenery. My big dissapointment was that as a vegan, there were no food options whatsoever. The menu looked really nice and fairly extensive, but not if you have vegan dietary needs. They also had quite a lovely display of cakes, yet again, not even one was suitable for vegans. I hope this review will be viewed as a suggestion and positive criticism to the business owners. The location is truly special and the staff are friendly.
