Called in for a light bite after wandering the Roche's near by. The pub looks nice from the outside and didn't disappoint when you walk in. It was a busy Subaru afternoon with the bustle of people enjoying themselves. The decor is traditional English pub with low ish ceilings and dark wood. Despite it being busy we found a table in the corner. We both had a hot beef bap and couldn't resist cheesy chips. Our corner was a little tight and the table only just big enough for two but hey, it's busy and it added to the charm. The cheesy chips came out first. I could tell the chips were made in site and the cheese used was real! I say that because so many places use squirty cheese for cheesy chips three days. At first glance I thought oh it would have been nice if the cheese had been warmed to melt. What I hadn't realised was that the chef had layered the cheese with the chips. They were the best put together and tasting cheesy chips I've had in ten years. Amazing! After 4 or 5 minutes followed the beef baps. With the chips and drinks and baps there was no surface space left so we had to be careful. Once I devoured the amazing cheesy chips I started on the beef bap. It was well presented with what tasted like fresh salad and the beef had obviously came off a joint. I couldn't have asked for more. Well maybe some mustard, once the food was delivered they never came back to see if it was ok; I would have asked for mustard at that point as I forgot when they delivered it. They were busy though so that's ok. The beef tasted nice and the bap was good, my only criticism was that the beef was a bit on the dry side. This did not spoil a good meal though. When we left the staff made an effort to say goodbye, nice touch. Overall we were very happy with this pub, so much so we're going back next weekend 😁. For info, they have many sizes of table so don't think they are all this small we could have waited for a buffet table but we thought it was cute and intimate. The pub is child friendly, there is one small step from the road to the terrace with a hand rail and then one small step to get into the pub through the front door. Due to its darkness inside with my low vision I struggled but not much more than other places and there are Windows you can sit by if you need more light. If you use a wheel chair I would call them first to see if there is another entrance you can use as you could struggle through the front door. Oh and just be aware it's on a bit of a bank but the carpark is directly opposite so nothing to worry about. I've attached some pics of the food and if the surrounding area. Enjoy!

Once again, another country pub serving ā€˜bog standard’ food with Gastropub prices. I wanted just something light after a walk over the Roaches, so I was going to order a sandwich, until I saw the prices. They were titled ā€˜Our finest Baguettes!’ then the grubby, laminated menu continues to say- ā€œAll served on a white ciabatta!ā€ …… Lol!! šŸ˜‚ In the end I ordered a chicken wing starter for Ā£8.95… and some chips for Ā£4.75….For this I got five chicken wings which I suspect were microwaved, drowned in barbecue sauce and served in a small tapas bowl on a bed of wilted, undressed salad leaves. The tiny handful of frozen ā€˜skin on fries’ was also served in a tiny tapas bowl. Not only does Ye Olde Rock Inn not know the difference between a baguette and a ciabatta, it certainly doesn’t know the difference between good food and rubbish! They are very good at overpricing though! Absolute rip off Best Avoided!

Thanks to a random overnight camping trip in the Peaks I ended up at The Olde Rock Inn for dinner on Saturday. I'm very particular with food and I have to say I had one of the best meals in the last few years and 100% the best blue cheese burger I've ever had!! Oh my goodness it was delicious 🤤 so much blue cheese and the black pudding fritter just made it!! For dessert I had banoffee pie, so rich and indulgent. Absolutely delicious!! We were also able to take my dog, were in the games room and had a few games of snooker. I didn't expect much but had a fantastic evening. The staff were super helpful and friendly and ill definitely be having another camping trip purely to go and enjoy another evening with beautiful food at The Olde Rock Inn!!

Very disappointed with the food. I had the fish and chips. The fish was lovely which is why the extra star. The "crushed minted peas" were garden pens with some mint, which I do not like, nothing crushed about them. The chips were heavily salted,I personally cannot eat salt so they were untouched. Noone came over to ask how the meal was otherwise I would have mentioned it at the time, although there were several staff standing around. When I went to pay I was asked how my meal was, I mentioned the above points and was told sorry and then proceeded to still charge me full price, knowing a considerable amount of my food was inedible to me. I would have expected better for a meal that costs £15.95.UPDATE AFTER RESPONSE FROM OWNER. The minted peas were whole, not crushed. The "light dusting of sea salt flakes",was anything but a light dusting. I have since spoken to a few people that have eaten here recently and also felt the salt was to much,as I cannot eat to much sodium chloride it should be mentioned on your menu that this is how chips are served as I would then not ordered this meal and I'm sure a lot of people would also have the same problem, it should say "seasoned".As I mentioned in my original review I had no issue with the fish. I actually ate 3/4 of this as couldn't eat anymore batter without eating any other food to break up the taste. Noone visited the table during the meal,we were asked if we wanted any sauces as they brought the meal over, which is common practice in pubs and restaurants. What I was not impressed with was the lack of service after the meal was served as I previously stated noone checked if the meal was okay. This was an honest review and I feel your response is very defensive and a little rude. You will possibly not get customers returning if they do not like the food and for something as important as salt not to be mentioned on the menu should be taken as constructive criticism to amend your menu. You state yourself not everyone is a fan of salted chips,if you give them a warning they are salty then they may order something else, resulting in returning customers, not to give the response you have,very...

Beautiful surroundings but the menu was on a very confusing layout and the vegetarian dishes extremely limited. I had the veggie Thai green curry and it did not taste nice. It tasted nothing like a creamy Thai green curry at all. It just had an overpowering strong taste of lemongrass and no other flavour. Quite disappointed. As a veggie.... Won't be going back for food. (After response from owner) I am deeply upset that you have been so defensive in your reply. I did say I would not return for food... I would have however returned for drinks but after your response I've changed my mind. At the end of the day my friend and I both struggled with the menu... That was just our experience. You do not need to tell us that it's not confusing. Also... If you were go into a pub yourself for food for a special birthday meal and all on offer was a horrible curry or a burger would you be happy to return? I think not. I have often wanted to come on a sunday for a roast with my husband who is a meat eater. But as there is not veggie oftion for a roast then we can't unfortunately. I am just telling you of my experience and as a professional you should be able to take note of a review rather than be rude to the person who left it. Perhaps put yourself in my shoes before telling me point blank that I'm wrong. Also if I were to complain about the food at the time I'm not sure what you could have done. It would have been awkward for my friend and also then I would be sat waiting for food whilst she ate. This platform is for honest reviews. I am entitled to share my experience here just as someone who has had a fabulous experience. I hope...
