We had the pleasure of working with The Altland House for our wedding, and I cannot recommend them enough! We worked directly with Cassandra, who was absolutely amazing throughout the entire process. As someone who didn’t know much about weddings, Cassandra was so patient and made sure I never felt silly for asking questions. Her communication was excellent, and she thought of every little detail to make our day perfect. Our tasting was a wonderful experience—so welcoming and relaxed! We chose two main dishes for our wedding: turkey with stuffing and pretzel-crusted chicken, both served with baby carrots in a maple glaze and a twice-baked potato. The food was absolutely delicious, and our guests raved about it all night. Since we don’t live locally, some of our guests were staying at The Altland House the night before the wedding. Last minute, we had to make plans for dinner, and despite arriving later than expected, they were more than accommodating for our larger group. We never felt rushed, and the meal was fantastic! The atmosphere was also really cool—we wished we didn’t have so many guests who wanted to stay with us because we would have loved to use their rooms for ourselves! On the day of the wedding, everything went smoothly. The team was on time, incredibly friendly, and made sure everything was perfect. A special shout-out to the bartenders—they were so much fun and clearly loved what they were doing. Every time I looked over, they were having a blast, and our guests couldn’t stop talking about how great the drinks and service were. Cassandra is amazing at her job, and we are forever grateful for everything she did to make our wedding day unforgettable. Even though we don’t live nearby, we’ll definitely be making trips up just to visit The Altland House because it’s that good. I highly recommend them for not only wedding services but also for a great...
Read moreWe’ve been coming here for years for the crab dip with pretzel sticks (spoiler alert: the pretzel sticks were replaced with something resembling a bread wafer), but this past weekend I sent my entire plate back with most of the crab cake and veggies on it. Super fishy, rubbery meat with undercooked veggies. The entire dish lacked flavor. The risotto which normally tastes great was as bland as bland can be. Rotten and wilted lettuce in the salad, watery dressing, 1.5 pathetically sized and soggy pretzel croutons. I really don’t understand why multiple people serve the same table when they’re not even busy. It’s extremely confusing to flag down a server when you have three servers. The drinks were awesome, and the peanut butter pie was awesome but I can’t help but notice the changes to the menu and dishes to cheapen recipes and ingredients. The food lately hasn’t been on point for what you pay and expect with the name. I come from a long line of foodies. Trading pretzel sticks for a few day old bread that can probably be disguised as a crunchy artisan bread chip. Short rib grilled cheese, but not a short rib alone… a way to use less meat with cheap bread and cheese. Chips instead of fries. A taco bake made its way onto the menu which is one of the easiest and cheapest dishes I know how to make. Wings? Cmon guys… you’re not fooling anyone. Atland house is a legend. It used to be a classy date night option. I get times are tough and wanting to attract younger clientele with less money to spare, but it’s turning into a Buffalo Wild Wings with a higher price point, nicer ambiance and a cool story about a...
Read moreFood is fantastic, service is terrible. We went a few weeks ago and sat outside on the porch for lunch. It wasn't particularly busy, there was no wait, not all the tables were full but it took a long time to get any kind of service from our waiter - including a greeting and a glass of water.
We decided to give it another go today. We asked if we could have lunch at the bar and the host assured us we could. The girl behind the bar took our drink order and told us she would find our server. After about 10 minutes of no one taking a food order, we told her we were going to go sit outside for lunch, assuming we would get service outside. The same girl from behind the bar came out to take our lunch order. Perhaps she was just covering the bar for someone and the outdoor seating area was actually her responsibility.
After taking our order, we didn't see her for a while, so my other half went in to get another beer from the bar. Half way through our lunch, she did return and ask us if we needed any more drinks but we both still had half a beer left. I handed her my credit card while she was still there and asked for napkins since we didn't actually get any silverware (we had a burger and a wrap) and we were using our drink napkins that were wet with condensation from the bottles to wipe our hands. We didn't get the napkins until she returned with our bill while we sat there and waited with hands that needed a napkin or two.
The burgers are pretty tasty and the crab soup we had the last time is one of the best I ever had. Unfortunately, the level of service will prevent us from...
