Been getting takeout orders here for the last two years all through COVID. This time was not a very pleasing experience. Ordered chop steak with mashed potatoes, and requested gravy on the mashed potatoes. Also a salad and requested some extra dressing. The bill it seemed a little higher than it should be so I asked and was told there was a $0.75 up charge for the extra dressing and $0.75 up charge for gravy on the mashed potatoes. I have never had a diner charge me for gravy on mashed potatoes before, especially since the steak we ordered came with gravy. Also the fries could be ordered with or without gravy at no extra charge. So no logic in this " extra charge ". Also the salad dressings are provided in very small condiment containers. Wouldn't mind paying extra if we were getting a decent amount, but there was probably not even two tablespoons of dressing in this small container for $0.75. We asked the manager and were rudely told we should be glad that they haven't been charging us that in the past. Food was good but last time we will be order from graybills. Plenty of other establishments are happy to have carryout business. It's not the small extra charges that lost this customer, but the attitude of the manager.

Delightful stop on Rt 30! The outside of the diner did not hint at the local eatery's delicious homemade food. I had a Rachel sandwich when they didn't have the Reuban corned beef. It was turkey with coleslaw, Swiss cheese, good dressing, on grilled rye bread. My husband had 1/2 waffle with chicken gravy. The gravy had a lot of chicken in it. This was not deli chicken. It was a mix of white and dark meat pulled from breast and thigh. The waitress said the whole waffle was huge. The half was perfect. We will definitely go back to Greybill's Diner!

If you are older than 45 this place might be great for you. That seemed to be the customer base when I was there. The food was ok. Too expensive for the quality. Burger was very well done. My son got a hot dog and that looked pretty over cooked. If I wanted a better burger I could get it cheaper at Greers. If I wanted a better hot dog I could do better at any hotdog shop in Hanover. Maybe their other food was better. Service was great.

We went here for lunch and won't be going back. We used to come here when it was Menges Diner and the food was OK back then. It has really dropped off. I ordered a grilled ham and cheese. There was a single paper-thin slice of ham and a single piece of cheese in the sandwich. We also ordered fried oysters to split. The average size of the fried oysters was 1" x .25" and they were all batter. She ordered a reuben and said it was OK. $27.94 for two people for subpar food. We should have gone up the road to Altland house as we usually get lunch there for under $30 and it surpasses frozen sysco food service fries and canned gravy. We won't be going back any time soon.

UPDATE - Summer 2023 We went for breakfast despite my promise not to go back. I was forced by two friends. Haha this cracks me up but the eggs were burnt. How a diner cannot figure out their grill temp and they burn eggs is beyond me. This is literally your bread and butter dish. Burning a scrambled egg is something you would expect from a 12 year old learning how to make omelettes. Anyway, they still have not figured out to make breakfast. You're paying for low quality food improperly cooked at this joint. Complete...

9-23-2023 Sorry to say this had to be updated today. We were there a month or so ago, and had to wait with a pager, and the host totally forgot us. After watching several other people get seated we went in and asked what was going on. Sorry I forgot was the reply. Okay things like that happen. Today however at 10:30am we once more had to sit and wait. For approximately 15 minutes. That's not terrible. What's terrible is waiting an hour for 2 omelettes. And asking the waitress why it took so long and getting the reply I don't know. No apology... Then when the cashier asked how was everything and me replying it was not good it took an hour for an omelet, he just looked a little dumbfounded and said that'll be 21.60. Not sure what happened at this place but I'm not sure we'll be back. †*† Been by this place hundreds of times without stopping. Finally ran down for breakfast this morning. What a pleasant surprise. The wait staff was friendly, the orders came out quickly even though the place was packed and the food was very good. I'll have to run down and try lunch and dinner and see if it's as good then as it was...
