Route 66 Motel — Hotel in Afton

Because of recent good reviews on another site we stayed here overnight. Please do not make that same error. Where do I start. The people were nice enough but room was dirty. Smoke alarm battery gone. No hot water or water pressure. Sink was old and cracked and rusted. Had to beg to get another hand towel as there was only one. Huge hole on ceiling in closet area. Sheets stained and ripped. Mattress pad lumpy. Chairs dirty. Heater did not work properly and it was a cold night. Either too hot or too cold. Mini blinds broken. Didn't want to walk on carpet it was so gross. Someone else's trash was under bed valance. Toilet was loose from floor. Only one light bulb in three bulb fixture. We asked for more and could not get anymore. Room very dark. Very low wattage bulbs in all lamps. Door lock old hard to work. No security chain on door. Bathtub no anti slip strips or interior bath mat to avoid slipping. Bad caulking everywhere. Charged extra for pets but dog cleaner than room. Despite what you read elsewhere DO NOT STAY HERE. Probably relatives...

RUN!!! This is a horrible, HORRIBLE place, ran by a horrible man!! He thinks he's the only game in town so he can treat you however he wants, literally had roaches crawling everywhere in my room so he switched me rooms and blamed me for bringing the roaches in because I had my door open while loading my suitcases into the room... Told me I need to shut the door or I would be back at the office complaining about bugs again when nobody else had ever complained about bugs! I would drive the extra miles to any place else before I stayed here or sleep in your vehicle he does not deserve the business if he can't have better customer service! He has a horrible attitude towards his customers, I would pitch a tent on the sidewalk before I would rent another room from him I'm not donating another...

Horrible. My car broke down in this little town and if there was any other option I would have risked it and drove there. But this was the only option. Every surface was sticky I had to wipe it down when I got there the remote was sticky and had gunk in between the buttons also had to wipe it down before anyone touched it. Roaches multiple roaches seen while there they all came out at night and she told me it's because it's an outside entrance hotel. My house has an outside entrance but I don't have roaches? She tried not giving my deposit back for dirty towels... That were already dirty when I got there I literally only use them to wipe up water on the floor and use my own towels because it was disgusting. Stay away unless absolutely have to like I did. Health department called...
