Come with me to start my morning! We stayed at the @hilton Garden Inn here in Akron last night and this morning I went through my usual routine; make coffee for my fiancé @jrfields and I, got the shower ready, and started packing up for 12pm check out. Later tonight I’ll probably do a little video showing what we do each night when we get to the room. #ohioprisonbreakgirl #bonnieandclyde #lifeinrecovery #recoveringaddict #addictcouple #couplesinrecovery #felonsoftiktok #lifeafterprison #truecrime

The staff were lovely and the location was great. The room, however was absolutely disgusting. My first room had black mold growing in the base of the shower, part of the arm of the desk chair ripped off, the side tables covered in chunky black gunk. I was moved to a different room across the hall when asked. However, that room was only slightly better. Again, the shower was dirty (in the exact same place as the previous room) and the night stand was covered in a mystery chunky white substance. I slept in this room only because I was exhausted from my travels, but honestly, I wanted to crawl out of my skin. If I didn’t have to stay here due to a business trip, I wouldn’t stay here for the next 2 days. Housekeeping needs a MAJOR upgrade.

We booked our hotel block for our August 28 wedding with Hilton Garden Inn in Akron, OH & had a great experience. The hotel was clean & beautiful. The event coordinator was a bit difficult to work with and we did have issues with adding more rooms to our block/running out of rooms without knowing, but we were able to get Tracy, Thomas, & Margaret to assist, fix our issue promptly, and make our day perfect! The staff was accommodating & friendly, treated our guests well & even kept the bar open extra late when our wedding guests came back to have an after party at their bar. Continental breakfast the next morning was delicious as well! The hotel was gorgeous & was overall everything perfect.

I've never actually stayed in a room here or paid for service but I stay nearby and am homeless struggling, so finding a place to charge my phone ( my only way of finding work (as a handyperson/cleaning/ laborer ) and getting any kind of help) is another struggle of it's own. The people there are absolutely warm and kind. They've seen me come in to charge my phone time and time again and instead of shunning me for being homeless and "stealing electric " from them, they instead welcomed me and even given me breakfast at their own expense. If you're in need of a hotel room and/or a place to host a party, wedding reception, business meeting, reunion, or just a get together etc this place is beautiful, clean, and extremely warm and caring. I'd recommend them to anyone and everyone. It's very hard to see this kind of hospitality and kindness especially in this side of Akron. Thanks again, guys & God Bless

SUNDAY (4/21): Upon arrival, I requested a room upgrade, which was granted (two bed to one bed). The room was fine, but the furnishings were appalling. The work "desk" had legs that would have collapsed if the table was moved. I called the front desk and was moved rooms. The next room had a sturdy table, but the fridge was frozen and unplugged, per Maintenance. Maintenance switched out the fridge and all was well.||MONDAY (4/22): I tried to work at the "desk", however, the desk's finish is so waxy that the desk felt dirty. The chair provided was not the proper height NOR depth; the depth of the chair was the size of a manila folder. I tried the reading chair and it was too narrow, as well as the ottoman, which was very short to adequately work at the table/desk.||TUESDAY (4/23): called down to the front desk for an alternate chair. I was told "all the chairs are the same". I said "I find it very poor that you cannot take the time to help me be comfortable in my room". She replied "we have an office where people do work that you can use". To which I tried to respond that if all the chairs are the same, then why would this be different, HOWEVER, the agent INTERRUPTED me and restated the work office scenario. I asked to be able to speak and she told me I was interrupting her so I let her finish, after which SHE HUNG THE PHONE UP. I called back, and SHE HUNG THE PHONE UP AGAIN. I called a third time, remember, this is to get a CHAIR I AM COMFORTABLE IN (that is all I needed help with), and asked the other desk agent for Maintenance, since he had been so helpful in changing out my refrigerator. She said she could not find him (9pm), and would have him call me when she did. I received no call from Maintenance.||WEDNESDAY (4/24): I called for the manager and was sent to voicemail (8:15am). He called back at 9:15am. And asked what he could help with. I stated that I was checking out, as the service was poor and the rooms were out of date, and he responded "thank you"...
