The location to Denali NP is great for the price. Depending on where you go, about 20ish minutes to the park. Close to Denali food, ect. The town of Healy is less than 3 mins and has food, booze ect. The room was clean. Parking great and plentiful.
However. I requested (months in advance) a quiet room on the upper level. Upon arrival I noticed the rooms were already pre assigned. I asked for the request (from months ago) and was told they couldn't do it because of.. whatever excuse they made. They put me in a room facing the driveway on the bottom. Neither of the requests I asked for. Feel like they did this on purpose OR never looked at the request. It was loud and annoying. The internet was also annoying. For some reason, at the same time every night it was unavailable. Hmmm. Is that them shutting it down or an ironic cheap internet issue? I also found it strange that every time I came back at night, the employee working was randomly seen. Like, why do I see you every time I came home? Felt like they were watching me or some wierd AK backwoods surveillance was going on. Asked for a later check out since I checked in late. Caught some tude about it. Said forget it and checked out ASAP. Employee had a kid sitting on her lap. Agreed with others the sink did NOT drain. Provided some strange pre made hard boilded egg breakfast in the fridge. Idk who came up with that. EXTREMELY STRANGE. Nobody has ever done that. On purpose.
All I wanted was a clean quiet place to stay, where i can sleep without being waken up, with internet that works if my phone internet does not. That's it. This place failed on all levels. Idk I'd never stay there again. It's a...
Read moreThe hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, giving ideas for places to eat and things to do. The hotel is right off the main highway but tucked down a long driveway allowing it to be private and quiet. While the hotel is on the older side, therefore has very thin walls and floors and a slightly older hotel musty smell to the lobby area, the rooms had some updates done and were very clean and did not have the older musty smell to them. Our room was on the first floor right next to the lobby, which I do not recommend as we heard the front entry door to the hotel slamming at all hours as people came and went. The rooms have a fridge (although very tiny) and a microwave. They have breakfast in the fridge that included hard boiled eggs, oranges, Gogurt, Nutrigrain bars, juice boxes, etc. That was a nice added touch. The lobby has a tray with snacks such as chips, candy, Easy Mac, Cup Noodles, water, pop, popcorn, etc. for purchase at very reasonable prices. Coffee and tea is provided in room and in the lobby. If you are looking for a resort with things to do, this isn't your place. But if you are simply using it as a home base to rest your head for a reasonable price while exploring Denali NP, this place is perfect and I would stay here again. Side note, I asked the front desk if they happened to have bear spray and the happily let me borrow a can of it for my stay, stating many people leave cans...
