We stayed there for the winter 2023 before leaving to go to the lower 48. Their website stated 700 for the month plus electricity. When we went to reserve our spot they raised it to 950 a month not including electric. Fine we dealt with it. We were not allowed to use the showers since we had water hookup. But the maintenance person and whom ever visited was allowed to. The laundry facility stated it was closed for cleaning 12-2 daily . The laundry room garbage was always over flowing at that time there was only 5 campers there. They were allowing people from outside the park to do laundry there. If it snowed nothing was plowed for a couple days and then you had to re dig yourself out because they would plow you back in. Also I always had to shovel out the entrance door just to do laundry. They would never answer the phone and they definitely do not have 24 hour maintenance. The dryers some how turned a lot of clothes black speckled grease all over so very frustrating. This was the worst experience for my family. Also NO military discount at all . Hopefully my review was helpful I was informed by another person camping for the winter this was his worst experience. O they also have a $50 clean up fee for pet owners but there was so much dog poop all over from the maintenance guys dog who freely went everywhere. We also got to witness them chasing a mother moose and her baby out of the park that were eating and then started throwing things at them. Which is highly against the law. Stayers beware just because it says KOA does not mean...
Read moreThis is one of the nicest KOAs I have camped at. I read some really negative reviews of this place before it became a KOA, but clearly whoever purchased it for the KOA franchise has made some very nice improvements. We camped on site 26. The electric pedestal was in good working order. The bathrooms were recently tastefully updated and the showers were clean. The laundry room was also clean and the staff was attentive to an issue with one washing machine. The staff were friendly and very helpful. They offer a dump station and propane as well as a large covered pavilion (which allows campers to be outside but under cover on the many rainy days Alaska has). The location is near the highway and was a bit noisy, but the flip side of location is that it is very convenient to Palmer and Wasilla and is great for folks who want to get on the road to another destination without driving through a lot of traffic lights in town. It is also very near a hospital, should an emergent situation arise. I highly recommend this KOA for upholding the standards we...
Read moreI chose this campground over others in the area because it looked to be further away from the highway than others and other campers had reviewed the noise level to be nominal however, we were situated on the right side of the campground (as you tun into the entrance) and it was really loud. Highway noise was loud and constant. Ear plugs were needed. I would suggest requesting a site on the left side of the park away from the highway. The campground was clean. Both laundry and bathhouse facilities were clean and well maintained. The lady in the office was polite and helpful. Laundry was very expensive at $3.50 a wash (common) however it was also $3.50 to dry on once cycle. I have never come across this before, It didn't dry my clothes so a dry cost me $7.00. That's ridiculous. For those of you with pets, whilst there is no dog run off leash area, there is grass space to walk your dog around the perimeter of the park and an off leash area away 8 minutes drive away. Overall our stay was OK. Equal amounts of pros and cons. Big...
