Came here camping with my travel trailer. Place to us was a little hard to find. We passed the turn and had to drive several miles to find a spot to turn around with a travel trailer attached. Had to go past tortilla flats to turn around. A passer by kindly told us what to watch for so we would not miss the turn. So when you’re coming in there are two bridges. You need to go past the 2nd bridge and turn left right away. Campground has a guard house to the right where you check in. They give you a fob to get in and out of the campground. If you have family or friends coming in you should meet them at the gate to let them in with the fob. They charge for $25 extra for car, boat to park. Camping fee is very pricey but has electric and water no sewer hook up. They do have a service for $25 dollars they will come to you to pump the sewage. This was very convenient. You have to wait till they come the morning you leave to do the job. Cell phone and data service works well with most cell companies. T-mobile does work there. Space to park your rv are close together. Not very quiet, atv riders woke everyone up very early in the morning. Road to campground is Very windy and narrow. You can park your boat right on the shore which was nice. Great place to kayak. Not sure if we’ll come back again.

Great spot for tent camping and fishing right on the water, if you have boats or stand up paddle boards there is tons to explore. Dogs are allowed, which is great if the are well behaved as there is no regulations (that we experienced) for aggressive inconsolable barking dogs. We met some lovely neighbors, as a side note campsites are very close together. I think this campground could use a total bathroom/shower remodel (which after a pleasant visit by the GM and on site manager we were assured that the bathrooms are being remodeled) and cut out a few RV spots to spread out the tent sites. Other than that we love the friendly staff and will be returning for many seasons to come. I would recommend this for family camping, just know there is no cell service and WiFi is only up at the camp office - we would walk up daily to check emails etc. Near the office is the Dolly steam boat - we didn’t go on any tours but would consider the dinner tour during the summer. Great place to disconnect and make family memories. Stock up on wood/ice and other items as the nearest convenience is either 15-30 minutes away. There are tons of things to do outside of the campground, I recommend searching the Goldfield ghost town mine and shops - and the O.K. Coral horseback riding.

We went on the Dolly Steamboat dinner cruise in the evening and it was quite the experience. The ship’s captain was very informative and entertaining as he navigated the vessel around the lake between the canyon walls and coves. The scenery while on the boat was awesome, with stunning views of the surrounding canyons and Four Peaks in the distance. We got to see several Big Horn Sheep along the way and a Blue Heron on the way back to the dock. Bald Eagles can be seen at times as well. Getting to the lake you travel on the 88 on a windy road, with scenic views of the desert landscape, past the entrance to Lost Dutchman park. While on the cruise we were served a very nice catered dinner with the main entrees being rosemary chicken and stuffed pork and a salad. There was water, iced tea and lemonade for drinks with the meal and dessert was served after dinner. You have the option of one or the other or both. There is also a cash bar onboard for other soft drinks and adult beverages. Crew members were friendly and attentive. The cruise lasts about 2 and a half hours. We would recommend this trip for anyone who wants to visit Canyon Lake - it’s just an hour or so drive from Phoenix and the surrounding communities.

Posted pic with complaint contact info on them. I am so upset that these people get away with such dirty grounds, and VERY RUDE & ABUSIVE behavior. NO SEWER HOOKUP. NO RV DUMP on site. Porta-potty were FULL and smelled horrible when we got there Friday afternoon before the weekend crowd. Showers were not draining and filthy. Dumpsters were already full. Flies and bees everywhere from garbage. Expensive per nite since not full hook up. Arranged for camp ground service to come empty holding tanks over Memorial weekend. Office said machine needed to be repaired. They would service our RV when fixed in a couple hours. Office said didn't need to be there when they emptied our RV tanks. I SPECIFICALLY STRESSED to dump both grey and black. I asked older blonde lady IN PERSON to please make a note to do both. She then told me their history and gave me guys' resume in how they are "experts" in dumping. When their machine is fixed they will service our RV. She stressed we DONT have to be there. I told blonde we were going to be on the lake all day and that would be great. They partially dumped black holding tank. Was still 1/3 full. Grey was still FULL. Staff that does this leave early and were gone at 3:30p. Tank was close to overflow. Asked the mechanic that was still working where nearest dump was. They said it was in A.J. So, if we were going that far we may as well just go home at that point. We searched and couldn't find the older man that was gate attendant to ask his advice. We had no choice but to find a R.V. dump. Called Monday morning to ask why they would only partially empty one tank and not both. Asked the older blonde lady why she didn't make a note like I asked to be sure it was done. I then realized it was her I was speaking with. She was VERY RUDE!! She asked if I paid for the service? I replied no, and reminded her of what she said, "if the machine was repaired the staff would service the holding tanks and we could come in and pay the next morning". The RUDE blonde woman replied "then what's the problem"?! You never paid for the service. I asked why the "experienced" staff would only empty one tank? I asked her why she didn't make a note on the RV service order like I requested? She was VERY SNIPPY and started telling me ALL the problems they were having that were more important than "my holding tanks" then asked me "were you at your RV to make sure it was done when my guys came out"? She then began venting and STRESSING how "THEY WORK SO HARD!" Avoiding my issue all together. I was so astonished at her tactics I just hung up. Well lady........here's a bit for you.............WE ALL WORK HARD!!! We are all there on our vacation weekend with our toys spending our HARD EARNED $$ at this campsite! You need a FEW lessons in customer service. I can tell you have been in that position awhile and your service lacks. You have a chip on your shoulder and your word meant nothing because of the actions that followed. We don't care to know the challenges of your job. We know it's a busy weekend. If your staff was so busy & overworked then you don't have enough staff. I'm there trying to leave my job for a restful weekend and I took my boss hat off when I left my job Friday afternoon. Here's a free bit of advice for you and your staff......People on vacation DO NOT CARE to hear your tale of woe why things don't go well under the poor management. If you need to be rude or bitter because it gets "busy" then it's time to find a new job and let some fresh staff come in. It's evident you don't like your job. You complain over the phone to a stranger that simply asks why something wasn't done as requested. Hang up your hat because you do not wear it well. We love the lake. We love jet skiing, boating, and fishing. We will always return for the lake. We have visited for many years. We will just have to be more efficient and resourceful next time. We know we can't count on the...

Note: This review is only for the Campground at Canyon Lake, not the marina. We did not use the marina. ||||Originally we intended to tent camp for one night at a nearby state park, but they were full and the nearby forest service camping area was closed. Since we desperately needed a place to spend one night, we chose Canyon Lake Marina & Campground from a list of options given to us at the park. We knew nothing about the location other than the name. We were hopeful as we drove the ten miles through the mountains. The drive to the lake was beautiful, and the campground and marina were located in a spectacular canyon. Unfortunately, the beauty stopped there. ||||When we arrived late in the day we were told there were a few tent sites available, and we drove in to look before we paid the $30.00 fee. The first thing we saw was the parking lot that served the RV sites. The RVs were parked very close to each other and had a small area on the beach in front of them with a picnic table and fire ring. Packed in as tightly as they were I imagine there wasn't much privacy. Since we weren't in an RV I can't speak to the hookup situation, but I do know the prices on the paperwork said RV sites ranged from $60-$80 per night.||||The tent camping sites had two options, on the beach or the other side of the road. The sites on the other side of the road were just a walk across the street from the beach. It was $35.00 per night for the beachfront, and $30.00 across the road. We selected Site 9 across the road, because this was not even a 24-hour stay and we would not be using the lake. It was a small site, with a fire ring and picnic table but located a slight distance from the neighboring site. We knew that his was a privately owned campground, but we felt the fee was extraordinarily high for what we received, especially given the condition of the campground and the facilities. There was no pride in ownership. I assume the prices were based on the location and not invested in maintaining the campground, because there was no evidence that the campground was groomed or the restrooms maintained. ||||The campground and facilities were filthy. Our tent site backed up to a garbage dump. It looked as if campers (or employees) had simply thrown their bottles and garbage over the fence rather than using rubbish bins. I tried not to think about the vermin living in an area so close to our tent. If the property behind the fence was not owned by the campground, of course the owners can say it's not their problem, but it definitely reflected a lack of concern for those patronizing the location. But since the area around our site had trash in it as well, it speaks loudly that keeping the campground clean was not a priority. The restrooms had chemical toilets and the sink in the ladies room had running water. My husband reported that there was no urinal and the single toilet in the men's room had feces smeared over the seat. ||||When we experience something as negative as this, we try to look for positives as well. There were few positives regarding our personal camping experience, but I can make a few notes here about what we observed. Tent campers on the beach were only steps from the water, and the lake was beautiful. The beach area looked a little cleaner than the other side of the road, but we didn't look up close. The campsite next to us had a very large family who seemed to be really enjoying their stay. They had three small tents set up, so the $30.00 per night would be very cost effective when compared to a hotel. For any large group the fee would be reasonable when compared to a similar resort. Also, considering the close proximity of neighbors, the campground was actually fairly quiet after dark. ||||As beautiful as the natural surroundings were, we would absolutely not return to...
