I booked a room at the Heritage Inn because my wife and I have camped in the Sauder Village campground for years. The little lake adjacent to the campground provides awesome fishing. We’ve sold our camper/big truck, but I wanted to fish the lake. Sauder welcomed me to fish the campground lake as a hotel guest. |I had never stayed in the Inn before. It’s an absolutely beautiful property. The front desk folks were friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. I had booked a double queen room. It was enormous. Adequate TV for the size of the room, dorm fridge, ironing board/iron, large patio door onto a little patio area (I was on the first floor) looking over a vast field, large bath with its own sink, separate/additional sink area. No room safe or microwave. Free Internet was more than sufficient to stream my programs with no buffering. Bed was pleasantly firm, pillows were firm, NOT the type that collapse around one's face to suffocate. ||Meal service is offsite, across a large parking lot. The hotel was quiet despite a number of families with kids using the indoor pool. As campground guests, we had used the pool in the past. Really nice indoor pool and hot tub. Even on this trip, it never seemed to be crowded. Maybe a dozen people, tops. I had no disturbances. Ice machine was close-by behind double-doors that blocked sound (I was in the room closest to the ice machine, I heard nothing).||I booked two nights. Unfortunately, because of an issue with my elderly mom back home (4 hours away), I had to leave after the first night. Sauder Heritage Inn refunded my second night without me requesting it. They just automatically offered/granted it, for which I am very grateful.|Class-act that Sauder Heritage Inn. And, again, the hotel is beautiful. Looking forward to going back without mom-drama so I can fish that...
Read moreMy family and I are from North Idaho, just moved to Michigan a couple months ago and are staying with in-laws and thought a getaway it to Saunder Village was just what we needed! Beautiful location, pool and hot tub are amazing but the overall stay was highly disappointing. My three-year-old grandson found pills underneath our TV stand and swallowed two of them… He told us right away and my daughter made him throw up. (My grandson is okay, it was just Ibuprofen 200) I quickly rushed down to the front desk to let them know what had happened. The lady working that night was very concerned and helped us with calling poison control but when she brought the general manager down, Steve, he kind of chuckled about the whole thing, and said that they were short staffed. I was not sure how to take that but he said he would take some off the bill for the inconvenience… When I went to go check out, he took off $50. Honestly I thought that was a slap in the face as this could’ve been a very bad situation. They charged us for Christmas dinner when we bought the package and got to $30 gift cards to the barn restaurant and they said that they can just use that towards the Christmas dinner but I still got charge for two adult meals and when I called the manager Melissa to ask her about it she was very rude and said they already took off $50 and that should be enough. I don’t live far from the Sauder Village and I stopped in the gift shop a couple of days before staying at the hotel and the ladies in the gift shop didn’t even acknowledge me when I walked in, I walked around for about 15 minutes and all they did was gossip about people around town dropping names and what not never asked if I needed help or anything. For this to be a family owned business I am highly disappointed in my full experience with the...
Read moreMy wife and I went to Sauder Heritage Inn in Archbold, Ohio for a quick getaway. The place is beautiful on the outside with great country scenery outside. Check-in was fast and the desk clerk was very helpful. There is a huge, spacious lobby with plenty of room to to sit and talk with little nooks and conversation areas. Our room was gorgeous and huge. There was room for two queen size beds, a recliner with a little table beside it, a desk and chair, tv and stand, a large dresser, and an eating table and chairs with room to spare. There was a refrigerator but no microwave. Nice size bathroom with a sink and a sink outside the bathroom. It was nice and quiet. Like I said - huge. The room was clean and inviting. Since we were on the second floor, we had a balcony outside our room with two chairs and a little table in between. We looked down on a little pond with a fountain in the middle of it that created the most relaxing water sound. Lots of beautiful flowers all over the courtyard and a giant tree. Off to the right was a soybean field with a beautiful view of the countryside. The pool at the end of the building was nice and clean. The wife enjoyed the pool while I sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the view of Sauder Village. We would definitely go again when we would have more time to enjoy the Village. Breakfast was yummy. You gotta get up early though. It's only open until 9 am during the week and 10 am on weekends. Everything is homemade and pastries and coffee cake are made at the Dough...
