We could not have picked a more picturesque, perfect place to get married this past fall. The staff at Banner Elk Winery worked tirelessly behind-the-scenes to make sure our event ran smoothly and was a total success. The event coordinator Kali is just fantastic! She went above and beyond the regular call of duty to make sure we always had everything we needed. We got married on the lawn just outside the Tuscan-inspired villa onsite, which has eight spacious bedrooms and was large enough to accommodate our wedding party—as well as our rehearsal dinner of 70 people, followed by a large brunch gathering on Sunday morning. We also had a large bonfire just outside the winery's tasting room after our rehearsal dinner, which was a total hit among our guests. Our wedding reception was offsite at The Barn at Cornerstone Cabins, which came highly recommend by the good folks at Banner Elk Winery. The best part about getting married in the High Country is witnessing how all of these talented vendors and purveyors work together as a community and support each other's businesses. We formed real and genuine relationships with these amazing people and cannot...
Read moreA beautiful scenery Winery with fantastic outdoor seating, beautiful views and a pleasant selection of wines. Walk ins welcome.
On the way in there are several historic looking buildings as well as some vineyards, these set the stage for a well kept winery with beautiful well maintained lawns, a pond and plenty of seating.
The wines themselves were tasteful with several red and white options in addition to some sangria. They offer flights (4options) in addition to tastings (8 options) providing you with the option to taste a few before settling in on a full glass or bottle.
They don't offer many food or snacks options, most people we saw had brought their own. I would definitely recommend it!
Kid Friendly, with some non alcoholic beverages, but not a lot of kid entertainment. We saw many families there in the early afternoon.
I would recommend the Banner Elk Winery to anyone in search of a relaxed outdoor winery in a scenic area. (They also have indoor seating...

I wouldn't recommend this spot. I wanted to give it 3 stars for the grounds, but it's a winery and nothing impressed me. There's plenty of outdoor seating but during rainy days you're crammed around small propane fires that are subject to the wind. One fire didn't work and the response was "yea some of these don't work well or maybe it's the kerosene"...well it's propane and there are only 4 fire pits so maybe that should be a priority.
The Cabernet is one of the worst I've had. There's this strange finish that I can only describe as alcohol afterburn
Red Reserve was decent, closer to a dessert wine than anything. It had a candy after taste. If you like semi-sweets, you may like this one.
It's a cool environment, and the food menu is simple but good for wine pairings.
Biltmore wine is sold in spots around Banner Elk. It's the superior wine. Get...
