Don't pass go! Head to the Coach Stop! Jim and Anna are exceptional innkeepers! My husband and I spent four nights in the Tavern Suite during 4th of July week. The whole Inn was impeccable and yet comfortable and casual. I felt immediately at home. At every turn, I was charmed by another thoughtful touch!
Our Tavern suite felt like the Honeymoon Suite! It was ideally located in the main house. The bed was comfortable, the room was adorably decorated, and all the modern amenities were present. I believe I said, "Wow," when we entered the room for the first time. The pictures both here and on the website just don't do it justice!
The Food: Each day, Jim and Anna served a delicious multi-course breakfast. It always started with a fruit dish (chilled strawberry soup, chilled watermelon soup with a slice of watermelon, triple berry smoothie, etc) and was followed by a delicious entree (ricotta pancakes with blueberry compote and an Italian sausage meatball, huevos rancheros, vegetable frittata with candied bacon (Yum!), and pecan praline French toast with pork tenderloin (mmm...). Pork tenderloin for breakfast is brilliant! I can't even say which was my favorite. I'll just have to come back to try the taste test again! I also noticed that they also made a very appetizing alternative option for a guest who needed to eat gluten-free.
Each afternoon, they also provided delicious baked goods (also a gluten free option for that guest which was thoughtful). I particularly loved the Whoopi pies, 5 layer bars, and chocolate peanut butter bars!
They kept a fridge well-stocked with water, soda, and the like. A Kuerig machine, coffee, tea, and the acoutraments were ever-ready. They also routinely kept the snack area and the whole inn neat and tidy. I never saw anything even remotely untidy.
The Coach Stop is located on Rte 3. It is close to both Acadia and Bar Harbor. I preferred to stay just outside of town to avoid the hustle and bustle. Don't worry about the distance as it is very close.
I personally can't wait to go back. Be sure to make your stop at the Coach Stop...now to find a whoopie pie recipe even remotely as good...

We came to to the northeast for our honeymoon, spending time in Acadia all the way down to Cape Cod. The Coach Stop was the first B&B my wife and I had ever stayed in. Anna, Jim, and their wonderful property have set a standard for excellence that is going to be difficult to match for any other B&B we stay at in the future. Coincidentally, we stayed at 4 other B&Bs between Bar Harbor and Provincetown during our trip, and none of the rest came close.
Anna and Jim exemplify attention to detail in every facet of their operation, and demonstrate a truly rare devotion to the comfort and happiness of their guests. Apart from anything else, the breakfasts and snacks that everyone keeps raving about more than live up to the hype. Seriously, this food matches or exceeds anything I've encountered in high-end restaurants and bakeries. You could tell that whoever is making the food has a genuine love for cooking and baking, amazing aptitude for it, and an artistic eye for presentation besides. Frankly, I'd come back for the food even if I wasn't staying at the inn.
The location of the Coach Stop was a big selling point for us as well. It's close to Acadia and Bar Harbor, but far enough away that you feel like you have some seclusion, privacy, and true peace in your surroundings.
In closing, I will say that when my wife and I come back to Acadia in the future, there is no question that we will be staying exclusively at the...

We chose the Somes Sound room, and it did not disappoint! The queen-size bed was super comfortable, the room was spotless, the bathroom is huge and well-stocked, and communication was perfect.
The little touches like charger stations, an umbrella for walking to breakfast in the rain, extra towels, bottles of water, and double luggage racks were so thoughtful!
Coach Stop is in the perfect location north of Bar Harbor, so you aren't staying in the middle of all the noise, traffic, and tourists.
Check-in could not have been easier. Parking was just steps from our little patio (btw, a delightful place to read early in the mornings.) Plus, there are snacks (coffee, tea, and cookies) in the main house every evening!
The best part of all were the innkeepers, Jim & Anna. What PRECIOUS people! Anna greeted us at the door for breakfast and bent over backward to make sure we had everything we could want!
And Jim is the chef ...oh my! Even with our many food allergies, he created the most inventive gourmet meals for us! They were the most delicious of our entire vacation! (His Eggs Benedict alone was worth the drive to Bar Harbor!) Not to mention the ginger lime watermelon. 🤩
Jim & Anna, thank you for a WONDERFUL place to relax and rest after a full day in Acadia! We hope to...
