We just returned from Holiday Mountain Resort and found it to be tired and in need of some serious TLC. First, the WiFi signal in the park was spotty and for the most part non existent. It was better in the cabin we rented but still dropped the signal frequently. The six of us there were never able to get any cell reception over four days, which could prove to be a dangerous situation coupled with the bad WiFi. We rented Cabin 6 and it was very dirty and needed to be cleaned from top to bottom. The kitchen was poorly stocked and the drawers with its few utensils were not clean. The kitchen had one dish cloth and no potholders, and the previous guest's leftover food was still in refrigerator. The steps going to the door at the cabin were rotten and honestly, for anyone heavier than my husband and I, were dangerous. The deck had missing boards and the picnic table wasn't usable because it needed to be wiped down. The A/C air return was completely covered in dust. The path to get to Cabin 6 needs to be improved. The last section on the trail nearest the cabin was tree roots on a hill that drops off which made walking treacherous. My husband and I are fit and managed, but anyone with impairments would never make it. Trying to carry suitcases, ice chests, etc once again creates a dangerous situation. Down at the campsites, where family was staying, the trash cans at the facilities were never emptied from Thursday-Monday when we left and the bathrooms were not cleaned. Grounds keeping left a lot to be desired; sticks, high weeds, etc.. On the positive side, the beds in cabin were comfortable and the A/C in our cabin worked well. I would suggest that a lot of work be put into the campground/cabins in the off season. Unfortunately, we would never...
Read moreWe take several trips to Mtn View a year including one this weekend, June 30-July 2. We stayed at Jack's Fishing Resort/Jojo's on the White River just down from Angers. We had a 6 year old child make the trip with some others in our group and late Saturday afternoon she asked if she could go wading in the water. Knowing the White River wasn't a safe place to allow her in the water my husband and I said we'd take her over to Sylamore Creek just about a mile back towards town. We asked at the registration building for Angler's campground if we could take her down to the creek. We offered to pay the $2 swimming fee for her to get in the creek there. It wasn't like the creek was loaded with people. It was 4:30 in the afternoon. We were told "NO" and to leave the property. The couple running the place even came outside to make sure we didn't try to go ahead and take her down to the creek there. I will never recommend this establishment to anyone after being treated so rudely. We are a couple in our sixties. We had no intention of partying it up and trashing the creek. Instead, we drove 15 miles out to Blanchard Springs where we had a lovely time watching her wade out in the water there. She was very happy and content for the rest of the evening while we waited on the fireworks later that day. I do highly recommend that if you ever have the chance you go to the fantastic fireworks show put on at Jack's and Jojo's for the 4th of July holiday but don't expect any southern hospitality at Angler's campground as you won't...
Read moreI am going to post about the good things and the not so good things for practical purposes that are helpful to other Fifth Wheel RV Campers. The campground has sites that are located right on the creek, close to near by activities, the staff was friendly. Here are the challenges. You will need about 20 feet of sewer hose the septic at sites are not close. We had to purchase longer hose at the Walmart and have never needed to do this other place it was odd. The streets are in need of a lot of work. Paved would be nice. Mud trench running down the street. Very tight spaces need more space between RVs. Picnic table was bent and wobbled. Bathrooms are very old and need updated although the toilets have been replaced and are flushable. This is a charming place, however for the nightly price needs to have some work done to fix up property. It has a lot of potential. Pretty location and fun for family and kids. The name of the campground is charming also. It had a good feel to it, just a bit run down and needing fixed up. Not sure the story, however it they make some of those changes it would be a great place to stay in upcoming years. Oh yes also…. The free WIFI does not work well at all. Nor does cell phone service so be aware before getting there if you need to get ahold of anyone...
