This is an updated review after additional stays. Definitely not a two-star hotel. At 5:30am you'll hear constant beeping every few minutes or so for their breakfast. It's loud enough to travel down the hallway and be louder than my own alarm. Fridge is too small, shower head is awful as always and water staining is awful (some rooms are better than others). No working bathroom fan and some rooms have dust bunnies ready to fall on your clean home towels, one of my rooms had no kickstand (bolt sticking out so beware hazards that can lead to blood and bruises) and door handles will definitely be head-bound if you're not careful going to the restroom, King size bed is closer to SQUARE size bed with little to no sheets - you won't be able to stretch or sleep comfortably unless diagonal, and then you notice the mattress being uncomfortably uneven from all its use. Some mini splits are louder than others and you'll want to use them on "low". Upstairs creaks from walking neighbors happens all night and all morning. On the right side of the hotel it's louder in the morning from commercial drivers and company vehicles beeping in, and around 8:30am daily you'll hear beeping on the left side. On the left side first floor it's louder from food being made. I would recommend staying on the top floor or not here at all. If you're taller than 5'7" you will be even more miserable than me. Road noise is fairly quiet although that could change after road construction is complete and new commercial businesses are finished moving in. Breakfast was as expected, "meh", that you get from generally any hotel. Also, blackout curtains do not exist here, despite what employees and management try to tell you. Their best solution is to come in your room and hang blankets over your window; and you can use what few pillows you have to finish sealing off any light coming through the top. Coordination is virtually nonexistent so don't expect them to take note of any special requests: aka, "DO NOT WAKE ME UP FROM timeframe". The best they will do is apologize, and you won't be refunded for lack of sleep from their faults! I'm absolutely certain I do not enjoy my stays here. I'm almost terrified to try the Quality Inn next door.... if you go across town to the Inn across from the Suba Guru you will not be disappointed. Here, you'll have to hear employees loudly speaking while working, so you'll have to try to sleep through ignorant guests and their beeping cars AND the employees. Anyone who thinks this is a good place to sleep really has no clue what a decent motel/hotel is like. All I want is silence and darkness, because that's what I'm paying for. I was taught to respect others in sleeping areas, and it seems most people in America can't comprehend even a little decency. I'd be much happier with a room that had no carpet, perfect blackout curtains, decent size mini fridge, better microwave, longer bed so I can stretch without being off the bed, and considerately quiet employees and guests. Biggest and best part of my stay was the cups they provide. I loved how I had cups to drink from, and they offer water at the front desk. Seriously, the cups were a huge...
Read moreThis was bad from start to finish. The thing that bothered me most was the lies. They didn't disclose that they charge the CAT at booking, but added it on to the final bill. The CAT is not a consumer tax, it's a business tax. While companies are allowed to pass this on to their customers, it is uncommon to do so, and it should be disclosed. Since there was no one at the desk when I checked out (just as there wasn't at check-in for about 10 minutes), I just dropped off my key and left. So, I didn't get the receipt until I was long gone. I called in the next day to have it removed, and the person I talked to was dismissive and critical, but I eventually got her to remove it. Well, she said she would. The adjustment never actually happened.
This hotel is also amongst an area in Bend where people are living on the streets in (probably) mostly not working RVs. It's hard to get to being right on 97, which is incredibly busy here and not well controlled. And, the night I was here, they just closed off half the parking lot to resealing with no information on anywhere else to park.
Other than that, there was also a very strong smell of pot on the floor my room was on, and the side door was broken (you had to enter through the front). Just a lot of maintenance issues and lack of care from management here.
My usual details: Comparison to others in chain: Much worse, more in line with a Motel 6 Internet: Pretty slow at 6/6 Breakfast: Tried to find something, but it was pretty bad and I didn't Room: Decent bathroom remodel, average otherwise Cleanliness: Decent where it matters, but definitely dirty around the edges Bed: Average Bedding: Average Shower: Both doors were off the track, couldn’t get them back on, good otherwise Hard water: No HVAC: Average Location: Poor - hard to get in and out of, amongst the street camps Noise: Very loud between rooms Staff: Liars Cost/Value: Pretty expensive...
Read moreThere was little "best" and no "plus" in my opinion. We stayed there last night and the check-in process was cumbersome at best. We had a Best Western coupon of $50 and the system kept rejecting it. We provided emails and screenshots - to no avail. Their room card machine didn't work and I had to walk down to the reception desk 4x with a non-working card. All other guests had the same issue. While the staff was friendly and apologetic, this is is not senior friendly at all. The toilet kept running all night because the handle doesn't snap back in place. The windows were moldy and totally milky from condensation that hardened between the panels. The freezer compartment was thick with ice and unusable. At the price of the hotel I definitely expected a higher quality. The staff didn't even offer compensation or a bottle of water for having to come down so many times for a problem caused by the hotel. This morning during breakfast there was no coffee for over 15 min. Not sure if this is still a staffing problem after COVID but the infrastructure needs some work. The floor board molding was peeled completely black on the corner in the entrance are of the room. The AC system was too loud to keep on overnight and maintenance who came up to check it out didn't know how to operate it either. Big compliments on the size and layout of the breakfast area and the food selection. Well done. Let me reiterate, the staff was friendly and professional, the hotel is outdated and in need of TLC. I wouldn't recommend this property or choose to return. I really don't like to leave such negative review but that level of honesty would have helped me to choose...
