This was my first ever visit to a Michaels, and my wife and I stopped into the north Bend store today. This review will be through the eyes of a non-artsy person, as I have 0 creative imagination :)
I can see now why it is the "favorite" craft store - what an amazing selection of items! I was there originally to purchase a gift card for a coworker that has claimed this store as her favorite arts supply place.
The organization of this store was extremely impressive. When there is a double-sided 30' aisle of just ribbon, then you know that this store is dedicated to the crafty people of the world. I was in shock and awe when the very next aisle with the same dimensions was all plastic plants. I think there were 2 aisles of plants come to think about it. I remember just standing there, my jaw on the floor, trying to keep my tiny brain inside my head. I'm not sure if I was blown away by the dedication to one single type of item, or if I was in bewilderment of why there are so many options of one type of item.
It was then that I realized how despicably uncrafty I am. As my wife was rummaging around and gathering items for her next project, I just strolled down each aisle, wondering for the most part of what everything was for. I had never before seen an unpainted, undecorated horse-shaped balsa wood cutout, not to mention 5 different sizes of the horse đ!
I have no idea about the prices, because I cant compare them to anything. My wife said it depends on what you are shopping for, but its worth it because you basically have everything you could ever want in one building.
2 aisles of yarn - impressive!
1/2 of the entire back wall displaying blank canvases - impressive!
I shouted out in joy when I recognized something that I could do; a holiday themed little town kit. Very highly detailed, mini scale, and super cool looking. Of course the one I liked was almost $300.00. Again, not sure if that's a deal or not.
Long story short, Michael's is a really awesome store. Their employees were dressed up for Halloween, and they were really really friendly. There was a sale on blank holiday cutout coasters, buy 1 get 1 free, so I purchased a pair. Who knows, maybe this could be the beginning to the end of my absolute lack of artfulness?
Michael's - highly...

Today, I witnessed a very disturbing situation while shopping at this Michaels location. A customer service representativeâwho claimed to be a managerâwas loudly yelling at a customer at the checkout counter. The customer remained calm and polite, yet the manager continued berating her, calling her "horrible" and "disrespectful" in front of everyone.
Regardless of the situation, no customer deserves to be screamed at in public. This created an uncomfortable scene for everyone in the store and reflected extremely poorly on the professionalism of the staff. I believe the name on the managerâs tag was Sara.
I fully understand that not all customer interactions are easy, but customer service requires patience and professionalismâespecially from management. This experience left such a negative impression that we chose to leave and will likely be shopping at Joann's from now on, which offers many of the same products.
I believe in the philosophy that "the customer is always right"âeven if theyâre not. If someone isnât able to handle customer service responsibilities without resorting to yelling, they shouldnât be in that role.
I cannot recommend this Michaels location based on...
Read moreI love this store. Whenever I am in need of art supplies that I can't find anywhere else I will go into Michael's and they always seem to have what I need or are helpful enough to help me get what I need weather it b there or somewhere else. The staff is always super friendly n helpful when I have questions and always very knowledgeable. I once went in with a very odd request. On my last anniversary I wrote my late fiance a silly little love note in the gel pen section using every color of the single jelly roll gel pens. I had meant to take a picture but I forgot b4 we left. 1.5 months later I lost my fiance to a massive heart attack. I went into my local michaels in bend or where I wrote that note in hopes it would still be there but unfortunately it was not the same pad there. I stopped an employee to ask about if they kept the old ones n she was so sympathetic and tried her best to help me she checked in the back and with another employee even went as far as finding a manager to see if they could assist. To my dismay they don't keep the old scratch pads so the adventure was a loss. But it attests to the helpfulness of the staff going above n beyond to help a distraught...
