Bugs. In the bed. TWICE! Beetles the size of my thumb, spiders and ants crawling up the walls- things nightmares are made of. Spiders crawling in from the AC unit, and my key quit working in the middle of the night- while a brown recluse spider was immediately next to the door at eye level. One bed had a large center lump that both sides sloped down from, the other bed was wonderful. When we told the owner, all he could say was "I'm really sorry!" I believed his sincerity, but didn't offer to make anything right. Told us about living by the desert, but I'm from Arizona- I'm well aware of dessert dwelling and what it entails- this was something else entirely. Besides the bugs, it was clean, middle of summer so it took the AC a few hours to cool down room, but again, besides the bugs- it worked great. The service was 5 star, the experience was horrendous. Worst experience ever at a hotel, my daughter went to sleep in the car in the middle of the night and I ended up in tears as critters scurried over my arm and down the bed for the SECOND time. We didn't tell my mother about the spiders- she's arachnophobic. Our Girl's Weekend was pretty rough as there was nearly no sleep for me, and the trip has a horror...
Read moreThis was a nightmare hotel. When I first arrived, the owner was very rude. I can't believe it has the ratings it does--don't believe them. We tried to drive around the back of the hotel to our room and the parking lot had hand rakes and shovels all over the place, including the middle of the driveway. The key didn't work and I had to go back to the front for assistance. He had to come clean the door to get the key to operate correctly. The place was infested with insects. They were all over the door and inside the room. While we were trying to move our luggage into our room, a stray cat ran into the room. The stairs were falling apart and had just one cone as a caution. The bathroom door wouldn't close and the A/C was so noisy, it kept us awake. There was no ice machine. We left at daybreak. When we tried to check out in the morning, we could get no response at bell...
Read moreI am a critical person so I can usually find something wrong with everything, but this hotel exceeded my expectations. It is a clean and decent basic hotel. I usually stay in what would be considered 4-5 star hotels (not talking about reviews, talking about ratings). I would probably consider this a 2-star hotel and with a couple of upgrades you could qualify it as a 3-star hotel.
The wifi was very good, I was able to stream video a couple hours a night without any buffering or issues. There is a train track about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile away but I never woke up once from the train.
There were 4-5 free electrical outlets (2 in the bathroom and 2-3 in the main room) which was a little dated compared to most modern or renovated hotels. There was no continental breakfast or anything like that offered, but it was cheap enough you could find a good cheap...
