Spent this past Friday/Saturday night here at Benton KOA in their deluxe cabin/park model trailer. Very nice accommodations. Was rated for 6 people so for the 2 of us it was more than enough space. Clean, water pressure was good, cable TV and good Wi-Fi. It was nice having our own kitchenette and bathroom (full bathtub) at our fingertips too. It was quiet and comfortable.
24 hour Walmart just 5 minutes away. Some very good restaurants also within a mile or two, in Benton. I-57 rolls right past this KOA and so it's a very accessible location.
Staff is top notch, friendly, and always willing to lend a hand. The campground host situated right next to us gave us a nice tour of the entire campground just after we arrived.
2 minor things of note. Very minor and they don't detract from the 5 stars I'm giving here: This KOA closes at 6 PM. We've been to a fair amount of KOA locations over the years and hadn't seen this before, so it just caught us off guard when we arrived at 6:30 PM on Friday night. However, all the information we needed, and key, was waiting for us in the night reservation box. So, no complaints there. I'm just saying this as more of a FYI than anything so future visitors are aware. I was excited about the bathtub on site but disappointed when I saw no bathtub plug. It could be the previous one was stolen or misplaced. Anyway, a quick visit to Walmart fixed that. And, I left it there for future visitors.... :)
Will definitely be staying at this KOA again should we ever find ourselves down in the Benton area again....
Read moreWe had the pleasure of staying here for 5 nights. We have a small camper but decided that we didn't feel like pulling it so we stayed in a cabin instead. The campground was on the smaller side but we loved that. My kids enjoyed watching the catfish and the sounds of all the frogs. They have 2 playground and the boys loved both of them. The RV sites appeared pretty level, too. Yes, the interstate is very close and you can hear the cars but that doesn't bother us at all.
We stayed in the Deluxe Cabin overlooking the pond for the first 4 nights then the Deluxe Studio Cabin over the pond for the last night. The cabins were wonderful and very clean. The beds were comfortable and both have a futon that our kids slept in without complaints. They allow dogs, too, which was a huge plus. In the kitchen was a coffee maker and some pots and and pans (see pictures) but the cookware is non stick and they only have metal utensils so the pans were scratched up pretty bad. The Studio Cabin didn't have any cooking utensils. Both cabins had plates, bowels, cups, coffee cups, and silverware. Bathrooms had soap and a paper towel dispenser. The sink in the Studio Cabin was super tiny but usable.
All in all I highly recommend this campground. We...
Read moreGood little layover spot for a couple of days while cruising across several states. We visited family while the area, just a stonesthrow away in the next town. Just a heads up, all pull through sites are way in the back of camp way downhill. If you need wifi on the road as I do, the closer to the cabins you are, the better off you'll be. We try not to use the restroom in the camper except at night to save a few bucks on camping and dump on the way out. That being said, note that the dump site is on a bit of a hill. We had a slight sloshing shortly after hitting the road, so we stopped at a rest area to dump what we couldn't get out at the KOA. Sites need releveling, and restrooms need a lot of help. We initially were put at the bottom of the campground in the pull through sites, but a cross between needing better WIFI and access to restrooms moved us up the hill. On said hill, we were barely able to level the camper. Even using all of our cribbing. The showers were amazing, though. Place overall is a bit outdated, and it's obviously older, but the owners are wonderful. Not bad for a...
