Overall, we are happy we came but we would not make it a point to come back. It's definitely a go once type of place, not a place you are so excited about you can't wait to return.

Pros:

Tom the bellman, 5 stars for him! Great customer service, friendly and knowledgeable. Pools are spread out, so it's not one huge cluster of people. More than 1 fire pit and they were large, so were comfortable for families to gather around. Fish tacos at Corkscrew Poolside restaurant were amazing! Room was clean and well maintained. Elevators are quick. You can arrive early and enjoy the pool while you wait for your room. Bellman will store your bags. The grounds are beautiful, kudos to landscaping.

Cons:

Check in is "guaranteed" at 4pm. We arrived at 2pm to utilize the pool while we waited for our room. At 4:15pm we inquired about the room and it was not ready. Things happen, no big deal, we hung out poolside. 5pm(ish) rolls around and now, the family is ready to go to dinner. We inquired about the room, we were told we were "upgraded" so that is why the room wasn't ready. We asked if the room type we actually booked was available to check in to, they said yes. We went to the room roughly about 6pm, which was located next to the elevator and the elevator noise was extremely loud. Not only could you hear the elevator moving, we could hear people talking on the elevator. We contacted the office the following morning, after a sleepless night and they did move us to another room, which we were thankful for. If possible, avoid the rooms ending in 21.

Front desk associates are not helpful unless you specifically ask something, you will not get any information. Upon check-in, we were given wristbands for the pool and no explanation of them (common sense, we figured it out). We were not asked for ID or credit card to verify, we were not told anything about the property, not even where the elevators were located.

They failed to deliver a basket we pre-paid for. It's likely they did not deliver the basket due to the issues even getting a room to check-in to. We asked for a refund and they assured us it had been refunded. However, upon check-out, it had not been refunded so they had to call management to refund it.

Lack of food options. Pool restaurant closes at 6pm daily. Tanglewood isn't open for dinner Mon/Tues, Mangroves is a very limited menu and the other restaurant was for private dining bookings only. The market had chips, candy, limited sandwich and salad options, things like that. Luckily, there are food options off property, nearby.

Parking gate was malfunctioning one of the days during the stay.

They accommodate pets, while it is not the hotels fault, patrons were allowing their dog to run off leash through the hallways. Cannot blame the hotel, but for allergy sufferers make note, pets are welcome.

They are a time share and they will try to rope you in!

I will end by saying, when we had to ask the desk staff for help, they were friendly but not organized or in unison working together. But they were never rude at all. It seems, either its lack of training or short staffed behind the scenes making it impossible for the front desk staff to adequately...

We booked our baby moon here through Priceline - I had never heard about this particular resort before then but got married at a Grand Hyatt. Our only regrets are not booking straight through the hotel for the rewards points. All that said, we’re now Hyatt members and will certainly be back.

To start, the check in staff were remarkably professional and hospitable - they made sure to inform us on how to best take advantage of the resort’s many amenities. All the staff we encounter throughout the weekend - from restaurants and counter service to housekeeping and maintenance were delightful. Several of them mentioned how much the loved their management team.

The resort boasts fantastic amenities both kid and adult friendly. If you are seeking a place where you can let your kids be kids while you enjoy some alone time - this is the place for you. There are 4 total pools on the property - 2 calm pools and 2 pools with slides / kid areas. All are clean, offer a good ratio of sunny/shady spots, and it’s easy to find a chair at any of them. At night on the weekends, they have entertainment in the lobby which kids enjoyed dancing to. They also had lawn games. We took the shuttle to the private island on Sunday morning and thoroughly enjoyed our time on the beach! As a Florida resident I was supremely impressed with how nice the beach was and the shelling.

The dining options for a small resort aren’t limited. The pool bar has a fantastic salad while Dino at the pool slings some yummy drinks - both alcoholic and alcohol free. Service was great at the pool bar and lounge chairs. There was also a brick oven pizza walk up which shouldn’t be missed - super delicious! Tanglewood offers a unique and eclectically spun southern inspired menu for both breakfast, lunch and dinner. The salmon at Tarpon Bay was incredible, but even better was the singer in the bar area there. We also traveled down to the Salt Leaf golf course and ate lunch one day in their restaurant - had a beet and goat cheese salad that was amazing. My husband and father took a spin on the short course and said it was a fun, well maintained and easy to play course. I especially appreciated the non-alcoholic offerings featured at the resort’s bars and restaurants.

My mother and I booked spa treatments at the Stillwater Spa. My mother to be massage and eminence facial with Masha was truly delightful. I enjoyed the mineral pool afterwards and a shower in the spa before dinner. Would plan on booking ahead of time for best scheduling!

Some of the staff mentioned they are getting ready for a remodeling… my mother and I both made remarks about how beautiful the flooring was and how cute the rooms were. The natural foliage and greenery around the resort are breathtaking and really make you feel like you’re in paradise. Plus, the location of this resort and spatial planning definitely contribute to the quaint and “not over crowded” feeling. It’s a hidden gem. And many guests we spoke with had returned to the resort several times already.

It was a well-needed and relaxing weekend before my husband and I become parents. We cannot wait to come back when our baby is born - such a...

My family really enjoyed the resort. If it were just my husband and I going on vacation, we would not choose this resort. However, with our son it made for a great spot to vacation.

Pros: Our son loved the turf area with lawn games, he also loved the fire pits and the s’mores. We loved the water slides. Our son is 3. He did the small water slide and the corkscrew water slide because he is just barely 42 inches. The employees at the water slide always made it a point to give me a thumbs up when my son was coming down the slide since he was one of the younger ones. I really appreciated that extra effort. We also really enjoyed the lazy river. It was a fun family thing to do. The private beach was very nice. All the loungers were occupied the whole time, but it did not seem like anyone was without a seat. There were not people would could just put up a tent in front of you and block your view, which was nice. Also, the front desk staff upgraded my room and gave us late checkout because of my status. Housekeeping did a very nice job of cleaning the room. They even folded a blanket that we brought from home. We were at the Hyatt Regency in Clearwater directly before this stay. They were not able to give any “perks” because of status. They also did not even make our beds daily at the Regency in Clearwater.

Cons: We had dinner at Mangroves and breakfast at Tanglewood. The service was slow and not professional. For example, I asked to have a TV changed to another sports game at Mangrove. The server gave me the remote and told me I could change it. Although, I did not know the channel number as I don’t live in the area. When we arrived at the Mangrove, there was a table open but it had not been bussed. My husband asked if he should wait for it to be bussed or to just sit (it is first come first serve) he received a snarky response from the staff member. We also waited a long time to order at Mangrove. I had to flag down a manager to order. The manager was very helpful and took our order right away. Our server was also nice. It just seemed like there were too many guests for the number of staff. At Tanglewood, there was a half drank cup of coffee on my table when I sat down. The server was also very scattered. Again, I think he was just spread too thin. Service at the pool was also very slow. The servers were very kind. They were working very hard. Just not enough servers. The private beach was nice, but the umbrellas were picked up because of the wind. My son had just fallen asleep under the umbrella. Many people from the beach made a bee line to the boat. We did not want to be on the beach without shade for too long. So we also went to the boat. We had to wait about 45 min. If we would have gotten there any later the boat passes would have already been given out. Not having control over getting off the island when something like this happens is hard- especially with a young child who has upset their nap was...
