In January, my family ( husband, 4 teenagers and myself) experienced a small house fire and was forced to move out of our home. We were initially told it would be approximately 3 weeks before we could move back to our home. We originally started out at another hotel in the area, but after 1 night, I decided I was not going to endure that place for 3 weeks. We contacted the insurance company and were advised that we would not be able to stay there due to multiple reasons. Our insurance company then matched us with Holiday Inn Express. When we first moved in, our kids jokingly, in conversation, would make refer to the hotel as "home". (Example-mom, I will be "home" by 10?) I consistently (gently) corrected them, saying this is not our home, please don't call it that. Long story short, 3 weeks turned in to 2 months of living at the Holiday Inn Express in Boonville and I eventually even referred to the hotel as "home". It definitely is not the same as home, but Nick, the manager, and staff made us feel so welcome. As stated previously, we had our 4 teenagers staying there as well...and the manager stated, "while you stay here, your kids are my kids." That was so comforting to hear. Additionally, we also want to give a huge shout out to Shelly and Sal, two of the employees of the hotel. They are exceptional employees and so accommodating to all of us. Last night, we went home to our own home and our own beds. My family all agreed we would miss that hotel and staff that treated us like family during our stay. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone. The breakfast is great, the coffee is amazing, the beds are comfortable...but the manager and staff makes this hotel top notch. Thanks again for making us...
Read moreWe visited this hotel on 6/23/22. Upon walking in, there was a musty, chemical smell. Lady at desk was friendly. Upon entering the "accessible" room we requested, we noticed a strong moldy smell. The beds were made and that is where ANY neatness stopped. The room was FILTHY! There were dead and still dying bugs of many types. The bathroom was gross. Old hair and Lord knows what in the corners. The shower seat provided was just gross. Coffee maker/ kitchenette were dirty/crusty. It just looked like this room hadn't had a decent cleaning in years. The moldy, chemical smell and filth was too much. We went to front desk to complain. We noticed dead roaches and other bugs all over the floors in hallways, etc... When mentioned, she said, "Well we just sprayed for bugs today". You'd think they'd at least TRY to vacuum up the dead and dying ( wriggling in death throes!) in plain view! She offered another room down the hall. We asked to look at it first. Upon opening door, a cloud of chemical smell hit us in the face. It actually irritated our eyes and throats. Awful! We said no and she credited our card and we promptly left. Most disgusting hotel room/hotel I've ever been in. And that is saying a lot with cross country travels! I will post pics here to back up my poor review. I don't like to leave poor reviews but I have a service dog and feel like he could have been sickened by floors wet with insecticide. Not to mention children! If they are going to spray for infestation of bugs, close for a...
Read moreTook 3 rooms to get a "clean enough" room to stay in. To start, walking up to the entrance, the hotel smells like cat piss. The lobby was clean. The first room we got had lady bugs smashed onto the ceilings and walls and about 20 dead ones in the windowsill. The endtable had clearly not been cleaned because it was sticky, and you could see where something had been spilled. The beds had hair on them. The tile floor was clearly not mopped from the last people. There was hair in the tub, and toothpaste not wiped off the bathroom counter. There were also small pieces of trash around the room. The second room was the exact same except there were stains on the bed as well. The gentleman at the front desk was nice and switched rooms again for us. The 3rd room was again, clearly not vacuumed with small pieces of trash, but the other areas were better. At this point, we were so exhausted we decided to stay. We asked for a late checkout because I have to work, and they said we could pay for another day if we'd like. We are Gold members, will be Platinum after the next few days. We stay in hotels 30-40 times per year. We love IHG hotels, but this one has definitely missed the bar. Shame because they are clearly in the process of a nice renovation. These pics are from the 2nd room as we did not get pics in the first,...
