Where to start...We first stayed at this hotel in 2021. At that time, there was a cafe open in the hotel that served breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu was varied and the food was decent quality and very convenient given the hotel's location. The rooms were clean and well kept. There were ice machines available for guest use. This was just at the end of Covid lockdown and people were starting to travel again. ||Fast forward to 2024. We booked to stay in this hotel again. We were doing a triathlon at Lake Mead and this hotel is incredibly convenient for that. First thing we noticed when we walked into the lobby area was the smell of cigarette smoke. There is a small lobby area with check-in desk and a large fireplace with seating. On the other side of the fireplace is a bar with slots, where people sit and smoke. We did not notice this the first time we stayed. We reserved a lake view "suite." The lake was visible if you sat in a chair by the window and looked in a certain direction. That was just funny.||Once again, the room was clean and well kept. The towels are nice and in good condition. The bed was comfortable enough. The pillows were weirdly small. The room air conditioner sounded like a semi truck every time it started up, which is kind of typical for hotel room air conditioners. There is a sink, mini fridge and a microwave in the room. There is no ability to make coffee in your room, no in room coffee maker. Instead, they give each room a couple of coupons for small cups of coffee in their General Store which sells small food items, breakfast pastries, etc. The one morning my husband tried to redeem the coffee coupons, there was no coffee, the tables in the eating area were all full and someone in the prep area was calling out that they were 20 minutes behind. So, no coffee, we went into Boulder City and got coffee and got instant coffee for the rest of the stay. ||The wi fi worked in the only lobby area for us. We were on the 15th floor and the wi fi never worked up there, on any of our devices, Android or Apple. I called down once to see if it could be fixed and went to the front desk once again to inquire. Kept being told that the router would have to be restarted, etc. Wi fi never did work on our floor for the duration of our trip. ||None of the ice machines are operational. There is a note to go ask for ice at the front desk. You go stand in line while the front desk people are all busy checking people in and they finally give you a plastic bag with your ration of ice. ||There is no regular housekeeping service. The sign on the front desk says that the rooms are serviced every three days and if you need more towels, trash emptied, etc., to call housekeeping and they would take care of it. Our trash was full the third day were there. Called down the front desk and was told to bag up our trash and leave it in the hall and someone would come pick it up. Which they did, leaving two empty trash bags draped over the door handle. No one could even be bothered to come in and actually empty the trash can, we had to do it ourselves. ||Finally, the Bighorn Cafe is closed. This was very inconvenient given the location of the hotel. There is nothing around this hotel in the way of restaurants. There a couple of small Dotty's type casinos in the building which serve snack type of food. You have to drive to Boulder City for anything like a real restaurant. Boulder City is just a few miles away, but it's not like you could walk anywhere to get a meal. The convenience of the restaurant was one of the main reasons we came stay here again. ||The smell of cigarette smoke in the lobby area was quite bad on Sunday morning. ||All in all, this was not a particularly cheap place to stay, and given the deficiencies above, it was no bargain. It's like the management kind of want you to stay there, but they don't really want you to enjoy your stay or be very comfortable. There seems to be no effort made to be hospitable. I really don't want sound like we are being nitpicky, but this place was not nearly as enjoyable or comfortable as on...

Read moreThis one star is strictly for Desiree at the hotel front desk. We had the unfortunate luck of having her check us in. I wish I walked away at the start of her attitude but I stuck it out because we had timed plans we had to stick to. Literally from the moment I walked up to her counter she had a haughty air about her. I always initiate my business interactions with a very pleasant greeting along with a compliment to show I am a nice person to work with. She didn’t even offer a smile or a welcome. No eye contact unless it was to quite literally look down her nose at me. I made a mistake and hit the “no” option on the card reader and she immediately berated, belittled, and embarrassed me for that saying “you’re supposed to look and read the screen” Then she started being passive aggressive with everything she said to me when I asked questions about handicapped rooms, like I was annoying her. Then when she was poorly explaining how to get to the elevators to the rooms, I repeated what she said trying to clarify and she gave me a half-cocked stare, put her hands up and over enunciated “listen to me, you go behiiiiiind the fireplace” obviously treating me as if I was a very stupid person who doesn’t understand English. I was fighting back tears while still trying to be so nice because I was embarrassed and didn’t want her to talk to me so mean anymore. I just wanted to finish checking in and leave. The poor woman who worked up there with her was so embarrassed of Desiree’s behavior she kept looking down and just sad. She did offer me a sweet smile when I glanced her way because she knew I was about to cry by the sound of my voice. I have never in all of my life been treated so poorly for absolutely no reason other than existing. I am so nice I was trying to compliment her hair even to get her to stop being cruel to me. It didn’t work. My entire rest of the day was ruined because I really did not deserve that at all. We chose to stay here instead of camping at willow beach for our little weekend fishing trip. We won’t be staying there again. No damn way will I be subjected to such a mean and miserable person. What’s worse in all of this, is that I am a former Dotty’s employee and I know the high standard of service that is expected to be given to every single customer and Desiree does not meet any of those standards. She quite literally has no business at all in ANY customer service position. If any of my employees ever had the nerve to so much as speak out of tone to a paying customer of mine, they’d be fired on the spot. I do not tolerate anything less than the best for the people who pay for what I provide. Dotty’s usually does better, I think Desiree must’ve put a big fat facade on during her...
