This is an incredible hike leading to hot springs and the Colorado River. It is a difficult hike! This is not a casual stroll to the baths. The first mile and a half is gravel and is exhausting to walk back up. There is a lot of bouldering, and even some spots to use ropes to help you descend & ascend.
You will need more than one bottle of water per person, bring a meal, bring electrolytes, you do not want to get dizzy on the way out. Think about hiking after sitting in a hot tub... and then pack your snacks and hydration plan. Also sun protection! There isn't much shade until you get down to the baths.
We went end of March & 85°f started early in the morning for cooler temperatures. The hike back the sun was higher which made it more difficult for me, if the sun doesn't deplete you, maybe you'll be okay. Recommend drinking an iced coconut water in the bath.
Lots of parking. Be rested, be hydrated. Lots of work but absolutely worth the experience and beauty. There was a big group of kayakers down at the bottom, this seems like an incredible way to access the springs that might be a little less strenuous than the hike...
Read moreSuch a fun hike! Highly recommend for anyone in the area wanting to be adventurous. Please note a few warnings, though: this is NOT a trail suitable for dogs. Seriously. Don’t bring them. This was my first time on the trail and we came across TWO dog/ owners who had to stop and wait or turn around in particularly tricky spots. There’s quite a few sections that require strength and both hands to maneuver your way through. Your dog can not handle this easily. recommend getting there early to start to avoid crowds. The rope sections can get backed up quite a bit when the trails are busy. there are 7 rope sections to climb up/ down large rock faces or boulders. A few of them are slippery because of the springs, so ensure you bring adequate footwear. there’s brain eating amoeba (Naegleria fowleri) found in the hot springs. Apparently they can only get in through your nose, but I’d recommend just keeping your head out of the water if you want to take a dip!
There were a group of volunteers at the parking lot giving general information and warnings about the trail ahead! They were super friendly and very...
Read moreToday we finally visited and hiked this beautiful canyon and trail. Very strenuous, so be prepared to use your upper body a lot. One of the best hikes I’ve ever done! It was little challenging, but manageable. If you're semi good shape. Climbing up and down huge boulders using the ropes definitely required some skill.
Pools were filled with warm water. The sounds of running water is so serene and I felt like I could just stay there all day just to listen to it. At certain points there was complete dead silence and I loved it. The views at the end of the trail is totally worth it. Plenty of people came, though as we were leaving the trail.
