My daughter goes to BG so I come up several times a month to watch her. I have stayed here a few times and every time there has been a problem. I let a lot of it go because of the renovations but it has only gotten worse. There is never parking because of the renovations. They have been working on these renovations for at least 2 years. I am not sure how long before that.
This last stay was horrible. I went to my daughters game and did not get to the hotel to check in until around 11pm. I was surprised to walk in to several other people also trying to check in that late which is abnormal. I found out that this hotel over booked. A Family in front of me had come back to their room and someone else was in their room. The worker could not refund the money to them because there was someone in their room and he didn't know who they were. He said they would have to wait for him to ask the GM the next day. He was able to cancel their other room since they had 2 rooms. This was a family of 5 that had no where to go at almost midnight. I overheard them say they were going to have to make the long drive home. That is crazy. The front desk person did not even offer to set them up anywhere else. He just kept saying " I just came in and I am not responsible for the overbookings" . After waiting for almost an hour he finally got to me. Because they canceled he had a room for me. Although he had said earlier to everyone waiting that they might not have a room from overbookings. Before he would give me my room or the 2 other couples waiting, he decided to go walk the rooms himself. When he came back he said my room was fine. I finally go to my room after midnight. At this point I am exhausted. The room was nicely renovated. As I was looking around I found a dirty towel on the side of the bed. I left it. YUCK! I decided to watch TV to calm down. When I went to turn the tv on the cable was not set up. I could not even watch TV. I tried to call the front desk but no one answered. I am sure he was still busy with all the other people waiting. So I said forget it. I went to bed and woke up and left. I had to walk almost to Meijer's because of the parking situation. My daughter has 3 years left of College here and like I said I come up several times a month because of her games. They have lost out on a regular customer. I will stay at the Perrysburg hotel going forward. Save the headache and DO NOT BOOK HERE!! The Holiday Inn Express in Perrysburg is only about 15 minutes further and it was way nicer. I have been to both of them as they do have both. You will not regret staying just a little...
Read morePlease refer to my previous comment. There was no organization. When I checked in Friday night, they advised they only made a reservation for one room (I needed one room for Friday night and two rooms for Saturday night). They did not book two rooms for Saturday night and proceeded to advise that the hotel was booked that night. However, they made room, which I was pleased with since we had family from out of town coming Saturday. On Saturday, before I left for the wedding venue (my husband and me were both in the wedding), we left a list of names of our guests that would checking into the two rooms we had booked. I had many missed calls from my family members upon their arrival to the hotel, as there was confusion upon their check-in. As a result, the hotel never gave a key to my room for our guests... and instead checked them into rooms of their own (one room should have been new, however the other guests were just to get a room key to our current room... this was explained in detail on top of me leaving a letter with names of our guests on it. Furthermore, one of our guests was given the key to the bride and grooms room! He went in and quickly realized he was given the incorrect key! When we got home from the wedding that night, my husband and me informed the front desk that there seemed to be a mix up and that our guests would be staying in our room and the ONE (1) other room we booked (a total of two rooms for Saturday night, not three). Upon checkout, we were charged for three rooms for Saturday night. We explained the situation to the front desk, however they said that we requested three rooms for Saturday. I informed the lady that she was incorrect and I even had an email confirmation that reserved one room, not two, and then we were charged for three! I also let the front desk know that we informed them the night before that there was an error made. The two ladies continued to argue with my husband and myself, even though they admitted the night shift informed them that there was an error. All of this was happening in front of our friends and family during breakfast. They made us feel as if we were trying to get something for free and we were very bothered by that. The fact is, the hotel misunderstood, made a mistake and then did not want to take responsibility. I then informed the front desk that clearly there was confusion because a friend (guest of ours that was on the list to be in our room) was given the key to the bride and grooms room. When he arrived at the wedding, he said "So, I have a key to the bride and groom sweet....
Read moreThe hotel is going through renovations and we were only informed about that when receiving an email confirmation a few days prior to our stay. Called hotel and told that the floor/room booked was already complete and the lobby/public areas had minimal construction. Our supposedly newly renovated room was dirty. We had a long day and late check-in. No more rooms so we couldn't move. Staff said they would leave a note for housekeeping, but we didn't want to unpack in a dirty room. So, we cleaned it ourselves using some travel hand wipes and hotel towels. We made sure not to be barefoot--unsure of the dirt we couldn't see. Speaking of towels: two adults in the room and only one wash cloth, three bath towels and two hand towels--towels so thin that they were soaked after using once. We reserved a "suite" so that one adult could sleep while the other read or watched tv; and to use for a break between family functions. The suite had an uncomfortable love seat, no table and no desk. The dividing door between areas was stuck and so heavy, it could not be used. And the lighting in the entire room was so poor we couldn't read or find a spot to put on makeup. Further, to "relax" we tried to use the public space in the lobby which was kept dark except during meals. There is only one sofa and two chairs which were dirty with torn fabric. On one attempt to use that area, the construction workers were lounging in the sofa/chairs in their dirty work clothes. Again, to read, the lighting is terrible, especially because the staff keeps the overheads turned off as if to say, "don't sit here." To top it off, we were awakened one night with the fire alarm going off. For a three-night stay, we came away frustrated, tired and feeling dirty. Travelers forced to visit Bowling Green, Ohio have only a few other options, but if those are full, it is worth a drive to Maumee or Perrysburg instead of staying at this Holiday...
