Had a nice trip, enjoyed looking at the marked down items, we chose one item because we thought why not it’s 50% off 🤷🏻♀️ we came up to self checkouts with a seasonal item that was stated as 50% off and the item we had was 19.99$ on the price tag. It rings up 12.99$ and we call the cashier , elaine m. (im pretty sure that was her name lol) over and just ask like hey do you have to change this ? and she was like “well it’s already taken off a significant amount so.. i’m just confused on what you guys are wanting“ so my partner kindly repeated “oh it’s 50% off and the original tag is 19.99 , do you want me to go get a picture?” and she said “yeah because i’m just not really understanding what you guys mean, it’s already been marked down” and walks back over to her spot. As my partner is going back to get a photo I quickly check my math because I swear i’m going crazy lol, nope! 9.99$ would be the sales price it should ring up as, so I tell her that and she continues to dismiss me and just keep saying that she can’t change the price and that “she’s going to get a photo” anyways a few seconds later my partner comes back with the photo and after the cashier looked at the picture she silently gave us the phone back, changed the price and sped walked away from us back to her spot. I get it lol, you’ve probably heard a million people telling you all day that “it’s not ringing up right!” but that’s never an excuse to treat someone like they’re incompetent and it’s literally your job, as a previous cashier I would’ve never acted that way, i’d suggest leaving the customer...
Read moreSo first off, I love Meijer. It's got better meat, veggies and selection than Walmart but not as good as Kroger (and I hate their split aisles! ). And the price reflects that. It's in the middle. But I've come to realize that yes, they want your business obviously, but at a cost to your health. They do give discounts and sales. But not on healthy or staple items. For instance.... progress soup is currently on sale, 4 for $8. I got 2 "regular" soups and 2 heart healthy soups. Heart healthy were not on sale! You will NEVER see a staple like ground beef in the buy 6 get $3 off. I almost totally shop sale items so I can tell you i can get 4 totally unhealthy freezer meals at a discount before I can get something like potatoes or beef. Yes, there are weekly ads etc, but you really have to watch for...
Read moreHere's a riddle: What can you get at Meijer, that you can't get at Walmart? Disappointment.
Meijer has the intention to be a reasonable substitute for Walmart, the problem is that Walmart not only has cheaper prices than Meijer's, but also a much better layout.
Meijer's is confusing and difficult to find exactly what you're looking for. After about 15 minutes of looking for school supplies, and stopping to grab a sample (nice touch), I hopped in the car, and drove all the way to Walmart.
I couldn't find one store personnel outside of the greeter (very nice individual), the sample employees (more than necessary if you ask me), and the cashiers.
Though Walmart is filled with its' issues, I'd still rather have a world graced by Walmart, than a world plauged...
