Our kids LOVE this place, and it's no surprise why... Erin, the activities coordinator has lined up phenomenal activities and mini shows that are great for all ages. We were able to meet several head line acts in person and we made some incredible memories. We had a two bedroom cottage, and it was enough for our young family because of the fold out couch and the king size beds. I knocked it down a star because It really isn't designed for young kids. At 2am on the first night, our 2 year old easily opened the locked front door and left. He was only half way awake and didn't know where he was. He went outside to find the rest of us, luckily I'm a light sleeper and heard the door close. It was terrifying. When no one at the resort had any ideas of what to do, we bought and installed our own removable safety lock. Personally, we think a high end resort, like this, should come equipped with higher safety locks and we shouldn't need to spend $30 additional dollars to keep our family safe. The next non-friendly kid aspect also applies to short people... The beds are ridiculously tall. As in, step stools should be offered in the lending area where the already offer crock pots and high chairs. On our last stay, one of our kids fell out of a high bed in the night and had a black eye and bruising the rest of the trip. Not great for memories or photos. When we asked the front desk for bed safety rails they didn't even know what we were talking about. We solved it by pushing the bed up to the wall and lining the other side with backwards chairs... which made meal times more difficult, carrying chairs up and down stairs. The final major dangerous aspect for kids is the beautiful "loft" window that looks out of an upstairs bedroom. One night we were playing games in the open family room area and heard our four year old laughing from above. We looked up and he was literally dangling half-way out the window, about to fall. He had pushed the desk chair to the window, unlocked the latch and leaned out to see the view. We distracted him while someone snuck upstairs and pulled him back in, then we removed the desk chair and made the upstairs off limits. Again, terrifying! Worrying about an adventurous child falling out of a window should not be part of a family friendly vacation. Other than the non-kid friendly aspects in the cottages, we enjoyed most of the resort amenities. If you can manage to be here on a sunny day, the outdoor pools are all you would expect from a pool with a water slide. The indoor pool is heated but the room is stuffy and feels a little like being in a chlorine gas chamber, but you'll survive. We found two playgrounds and they seemed to be designed by people who don't have kids and don't remember what it's like being a kid. The kids were actually bored after just a short time and asked to go back to the "tiny house". We were told that there were grills around the property (so we marinated meat and planned meals around that), but when we were ready, no one knew exactly where. Some rooms come equipped with them, but ours didn't. We found "bring you own charcoal" grills by one playground and were told that there were has grills in the gazebos, but could only find one gazebo... and it was empty. The more detail I add, the more I feel the need to lower the rating... but the beautiful property and the efforts of the activities coordinator keep it up there. Erin really made the difference for our family, and should be given more help to open up more activities.

Very nice area, however, the houses are NOT CLEAN (see photos). I spoke with the person who checked us in (I'm not including his/her name for their privacy) and this person agreed that the housekeeping at Stormy Point is not what it should be. A run down from entry is as follows. The front porch was dirty, the smell of mold/mildew was overwhelming. The hardwood floors are sticky because they aren’t properly cleaned. Beginning in the kitchen, the outside of the refrigerator and stove/oven were dirty on the outside. There were cobwebs on the light fixtures and the light fixture over the dining table is secured with a zip tie. The window sills are dirty, with human hair being left behind. There is no dish soap to wash the likely dirty dishes. The base of the dining table has splattered who knows what on it. The couch looks fairly ‘ok’ but given the condition overall, who knows. There is something smeared on the accent table next to the fireplace in the living room. The shade on one of the lamps is torn. There is a wad of hair HANGING from the landing upstairs. The stairs have cobwebs in the corners, along with first and dead bugs. The bathroom upstairs has a leftover bar of soap near the drain and leftover spit or toothpaste on the mirror. The bathroom downstairs has suction cut marks leftover from who knows what. The switch plates for the light switches are filth. The dresser in the downstairs bedroom is filthy with hair, dust and food particles. The beds are terrible, the springs can be felt thru the top. Our second night here (yes, we should have left, but there wasn’t anything else available) was after a day on the lake. Six adults needed to shower and we were short on towels. I called the office and asked for extra towels, only to be informed that we are to wash and reuse our towels. This wouldn’t have been an issue if there was something to let us know that. Instead, the hateful lady from the front office informed me that if that provided everyone with extra towels they wouldn’t have any towels available. I understand their position on this, but INFROM YOUR GUESTS PRIOR to their request. The website indicates that there is a BBQ grill included. This IS NOT the case. There is a pavilion with a grill, but that isn’t what we were planning after a day on the water. We paid over $700 for two nights, which would be fine if the place was clean. We don’t live in these conditions and we shouldn’t have to PAY to stay in these conditions. I did speak with the same person who checked us in, and this person agreed that housekeeping at this resort was very lacking. When the guests go get the parking passes, there is an attempt to get the guests to attend a timeshare trap , but the girls weren’t pushy at all. I hope if you choose to stay here you have better luck that we did. EDITED TO ADD: upon speaking with the hospitality manager, we were offered a free two night stay for compensation for our issues. She did say that they are working to educate their housekeeping staff to resolve their deficiencies so hopefully things will improve.

We just finished a 7 night stay in a 2BR cottage I was torn on the rating because the cottage itself deserves a 5+. It literally had everything you could want in a home away from home. We usually stay in houses or condos because we don’t want to feel like we must leave the hotel. I’m this cottage, there is plenty of room, a well-stocked kitchen (where I made breakfast each day and several light dinners), a nice porch with Adirondack chairs to sit and enjoy coffee, and even an electric fireplace which we used one night when it got quite cold (in May!!).

The staff was friendly and although they push a little for the timeshare tour, we were firm in not saying (upon checkin) that we would not be doing that. It seemed to be the end of it, but then we received 3 phone calls during the weeks trying to get us to do it. We did not, but that was annoying.

All that being said, the “resort” part of this property is grossly misrepresented. The photos of the pools must have had an incredible transforming lens or were stolen from another resort because the “adult” pool looks nothing like the pictures. The large pool and “water park” were closed but even empty looked nothing like the photos. The “adult” pool was smaller than most personal backyard pools and there is an adjoining (like 6’ away) kiddie pool. There were several babies IN DIAPERS in the “adult” pool and the water very murky. There was no shower to rinse off before going in (we looked everywhere & also no signage regarding showering). We decided to make the best of it and get some sun for a few hours. The pool loungers were canvas and smelled of mildew. Thankfully towels were available so we were able to cover them completely, however the smell could not be covered. After an hour or so, a strong sewer odor filled the area. At that point we called it quits and never went back during our entire stay.

One night we decided to visit the resort restaurant & check out the entertainment. The dining area looked more like an old storage area with rickety tables and wobbly chairs. The indoor/outdoor carpet was stained and dirty. There were maybe 7-8 tables total and a bar also. It was so small and that night there was a DJ offering karaoke. Very very loud karaoke. Don’t get me wrong, I love karaoke, but when the room is no bigger than a large living room and is not set up for that type of sound, and the DJ cranks it so loud that you can’t hear one another at the same table, it makes for a really bad experience. When we left, my husband made the statement “I feel like we were just in some alternate universe!” It was so weird!! Our waitress was so sweet and attentive, but the food was bad. I went with chicken nachos (because how do you mess up nachos?!). It was ground chicken in a gravy type sauce poured over the chips. The chicken tasted “off” so I ate more chips with sauce and little chicken. I made it to the parking lot before getting physically sick.

By this time you may be thinking I’m one of those people who dislikes everything, but I promise I’M NOT! I only wish someone had given a thorough review and we could have made our choice based on everything (not just the good). We have stayed at RESORTS many many times and with that title, especially one that boasts great amenities, you expect certain things. Not perfect things…just the things they advertise, and decent, clean things. If you don’t care about the amenities, you’ll be fine!

If we could pick up that perfect little cottage and put it on a property that had actual amenities, it would be great. But we will not be recommending or revisiting Stormy Pointe...
