My partner and I booked a last minute overnight stay following our Valentines dinner based on the proximity to the restaurant in Dennis (The Pheasant owned by Adam and Erica---which is outstanding and a great romantic dining experience with a truly excellent wine selection!). I found Brewster By The Sea Inn simply by looking for something super close to The Pheasant on Google Maps and I am so grateful we found them because this is now our new favorite Cape Cod staycation destination. Amy, the Innkeeper, returned my call immediately to confirm the bathroom did have a tub and explained that the room I was calling about wasn't available however a larger room with beautiful views of Drummer Boy Park across the street was available and at a discounted "book direct" rate. She also inquired about any dietary restrictions and what we might prefer for breakfast (savory or sweet options--egg bakes or french toast for example). She mentioned it may take an hour for the room to be ready and we were not in a rush so this was perfect and when we did arrive we were very impressed with the small touches that she had organized within that hour--fresh tulips, the heat was turned, and there was a welcome packet (including recommended local dining, shopping and day excursions nearby) on the bistro table that had been personalized with our names typed out at the top! So much thought had been put into several details, including signage for how to adjust the heat, how to use the gas fireplace that was on a timer (such a lovely amenity for this winter getaway!), how to reach Amy with any additional questions (via phone or text), and there was a fresh half and half and large bottled waters in the mini fridge for us as well as single servings of the locally roasted Snowy Owl Coffee. In addition, Amy had asked us upon arrival what time we would like our breakfast left at our door the next day and when we settled on 8:30am she said she would have some freshly made coffee brought up at 8:15am, followed by breakfast at 8:30am. The timing was perfect, and can I tell you, as a Les Clefs d'Or Concierge for 10 years in NYC, when I tell you I am not easily impressed...the thing htat stood out to me immediately was that when she brought up our coffee tray, the customized coffee mugs with their logo on them were HEATED. She had pre-heated the mugs so that the hot coffee we poured into them would continue to be as hot as possible. I don't know why this floored me so much, but it did. It felt like a pampered spa moment. I just feel like sometimes the simplest of details make you feel really taken care of and we felt that way from start to finish and cannot wait to recommend and return to Brewster by the Sea Inn...
Read moreMy wife and I found our way to Amy and Brewster by the Sea via Expedia. The information and photographs featured in the site looked very appealing and we made our reservation.
Soon afterwards, we were contacted by Amy via text and it was the beginning of an excellent vacation in Cape Cod. Before our arrival, Amy send us a video link for a “virtual check-in”. This was a first for us. While we expected some quick clip, we were surprised by a very detailed video of the arrival process and our specific room and its features. It was very detailed without being cumbersome. When we arrived at Brewster by the Sea, we had a very clear idea of what to do, which codes to enter to access the premises, and since the video was recorded in our room, there were no surprises. The furnishings and the attention to detail that Amy focuses on all aspects of her inn were evident everywhere, from the cleanliness and good upkeep of the room to the detailed folder with practical information on the inn and the Cape, to the origins of the inn, all the way to the working of the Keurig coffee maker. Wi-fi Internet reception was very good.
In any case, we wanted our check-in to be personal, and it was a great pleasure. Amy was very warm, welcoming and very happy to share her house with us. We felt very at ease from the beginning, and as the days went by, we felt increasingly relaxed. Getting to the specifics, her house is impeccably clean and very well decorated, without being over bearing. She prepares a top-level breakfast, impeccably presented and often using fresh vegetables and herbs grown in her garden. We were very grateful for the attention that she paid to our allergies-related request, going to the point of purchasing vegan butter just for us.
Breakfast, weather permitting, is served by her swimming pool oasis, next to her vegetable garden. This area, as the photographs display, is a temptation to lounge and swim and forget about going elsewhere. Yet, Amy is very willing to share any information needed to explore the Cape, its beaches, or its hiking and cycling opportunities. Its convenient location allows for easy visiting of multiple sights, beaches and hiking trails in the Cape.
In summary, we spent 5 great days at Brewster by the Sea. We are very grateful to Amy for her warm attention, as well as to her friendly gardener for some great conversations about home grown vegetables and rock music. We will...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of staying at Brewster by the Sea from August 29 - September 2 in the Bayberry Room. We couldn't have had a better experience! Brewster by the Sea will now be our go to B&B when we visit the Cape. The location of the Inn is perfect! It's on the quieter side of the Cape, which gives it a laid back, relaxing feel. Yet, it's a short drive to any part of the Cape being it's centrally located. Our room was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed for a long weekend getaway. Amy thinks of everything! We walked in our first night there to a tray with a delicious cupcake and note wishing us a happy anniversary. There was a Keurig in our room with plenty of coffee pods, and a electric kettle for hot tea. Amy even provided half and half in the little fridge in our room. In the refrigerator in the lobby, Amy provided bottles of cold water and cans of flavored seltzer water. The bed was very comfortable, and Amy provides a variety of pillows to fit everyone's needs. We had great weather during our stay, so we were able to eat breakfast by the beautiful pool. Amy provides delicious breakfasts that are healthy and filling. We often didn't need to eat again until dinner. Above all, Amy is welcoming and friendly. It's obvious she loves running her Inn and taking care of her guests. We loved learning about the history of the house and how Amy went from being a lawyer to owning a successful B&B and Sanoma Wool Company. I highly recommend Brewster by the Sea! Make sure you follow the trail across from the Inn to the ocean, which becomes the mud flats during low tide. We saw two beautiful...
