ATTN CAMPERS WITH A SOLAR GENERATOR OR IN NEED OF EMERGENCY ELECTRIC: you will not be allowed to charge yours at the showerroom in case of emergencies unlike any other campground. Almost all of the sites lack sufficient sunlight for solar charging. This campsite is a bit cramped; next door we heard construction and car alarms (only during the day thankfully). The bathrooms are straight out of the 60s, tiny, and the hot water goes out. Campsites are unlevel.
A longer version: So, we were given a campsite that was entirely shaded. 4 days into our stay, our solar generator was very low on charge, and our $400 in groceries were going to spoil. Based on their general uptight demeanor, I imagined this campsite might have a problem with me charging anything at the bathrooms. With that said, every campground I've ever been too across multiple states offers campground electric as a convenience. I tried calling them to confirm, but no answer. Left with no choice, I made a judgement call to carry my solar generator and charger to the stall only for 1 hour of charge to take us through the week and our 9 hour trip home. Sure enough, an older gentleman with a beard pulled up and said "you can't charge your car battery; we don't do that here". Looking at how he barked rudely, didn't open the discussion as to what that was or why it was happening I quickly took it down as he sped off on his kart. In retrospect, I paid them over $250 for the stay, campstore while this charge cost them about .08 cents (.31 cents average kWh in Brewster x 240 watt hours). If I owned the place, I'd let someone charge all day if they kept coming back... Not to mention, if it was a car battery, wouldn't you maybe ask them if they needed help? Wouldn't you want them to charge their car battery since that implies an awful situation for everyone involved including the campsite? This sort of behavior does not come as a surprise as the overall attitude and demeanor of the staff, rules, and signage there suggest uptight demenor, 0 tolerance, and worst of all 0 compassion. The ridiculous part was at night you'd find all kinds of electronics set to charge by other campers sometimes for an entire day. I guess the guy on the kart was just arrogant and ignorant of what camping tools are these days. Regardless, his actions prove they lack any degree of compassion or desire to discuss the rules with us kindly. Campsites, in the B loop if not throughout the campsite, are shaded beyond the ability to charge with solar panels. So, if you're reliant on it, look elsewhere.
The campsite had a nice allure of singing birds, bugs, and wildlife. That changed when we realized there was a house in line of sight by B18. This house was breaking ground during the day, and I have 2 lovely recordings of the amazing sounds of construction in the wild. The next day we heard car alarms. I want to believe it was a one-off, but please know that this is a small private campground surrounded by homes and development.
It's not unusual to have brown substances over the sinks, or toilet paper where you need to step. There are many bugs in there, but that's probably because I was the only camper closing the entry door as requested by management. The toilette paper was the thinnest, rash-inducing stuff. As a 6'2" person, the showers were cramped. I had to squeeze around the little area you get and often I'd hit the curtain while soaking wet. The hot water is fine if no one is using the showers, else you may have a lukewarm shower. The showers are facing each other and only separated by curtains - not exactly private.
The campers here are quite noisey compared to camping etiquette elsewhere. We saw what was the level of noise you'd expect from a pool party, complete with pulsating campsite rope lights. People talking loudly. It chilled out around 11 even with the occasional dog bark.
I anticipate a unapologetic reply to this, and no attempt at making this right, as has been the case for their other negative reviews (read them please!). This is the kind of customer service...
Read moreThe campground is very nice conveniently located in Brewster which puts you in the cape. That alone is worth its weight and gold. This is our second time there for Labor Day weekend. And we booked for next year as well. So obviously definitely coming back. Off the beaten path. You pull in up a dirt road that is 10 mph as you get closer to the actual campground it drops to 5 mph to keep all of the pedestrians and bicyclists safe obviously. When you first get there you pull off to the right fairly clearly marked you stopped there you check in at the front desk get your tag for your mirror for your car. Campsites are well maintained there is full hook up available, gray water only an electricity, and water on site. There are also sites without water mainly tent sites. The owners which are very present seem to be kind caring and really want the campers to enjoy their stay. The campground is very well kept, bathrooms are clean, plenty of bathrooms and showers, dirt roads throughout for the most part there are a few tard roads to the campsites,. There is also Sweetwater farms which seems to be a horse farm they tell you not to go too close but you can walk by and look at the horses. They have basketball swing sets cornhole pickleball, horseshoes, there's a fishing pond, you can rent boats. Plenty of water spigots throughout the place with buckets to put all your fires. Some really nice tent sites that are kind of tucked away with privacy. Camp store has a good amount of things that you may need when you're camping including camping and tent items, fishing items, milk bread crackers, candies. There is a small arcade game room for the kids with some seating, upstairs from that there is a pool table with some books and people television in that room with some sitting areas. There is a dump station for those that need to dump their campers. When I left check out was at 11:00 and I was second in line for the dump station, as I was dumping one person pulled behind me. So it was not overwhelmingly busy. Also to mention there is mini golf which cost $2.50 per person, or lots of activities planned for the weekend Friday Saturday Sunday. They had things such as scavenger hunt, fishing derby, painting rocks, basketball shootout for the kids, on Sunday they had a live band play quite a few of the campground patrons bring their chairs set up and watch the live band. Also before the live band on Sunday there was catered burgers hot dog salad....
Read moreI booked this campground from 7/20-8/3/24. The campground is centrally located in Brewster. It's a nice layout with plenty of privacy for sites. The price for 2 weeks in midsummer was great and affordable. The sites were all different sizes and most were flat once you backed in. The pond was pretty but swimming was not allowed. The restrooms and showers were very clean and the water pressure was great and there was plenty of hot water. The campground is very dog friendly. There is also a great dog park right across the street that we went to daily. The roads are hilly and you really need a mountain bike to get around. There are plenty of activities for kids. The downside was there were no activities for adults without kids. The campground is very clean and on the very close to the bike trail which is helpful. I love Bingo and have never been to a campground that didn't have bingo. There are also no planned activities during the week or really any at all during the summer. I understand most people/families leave for the day and come back at night but it would be nice to have things to do for adults and people who don't want to leave the park every day. There is a TV room but there were hardly any movies shown. For the price, location and privacy, I would definitely stay here again. My suggestions would be to have food trucks, movie nights, crafts and Bingo. I would suggest a sign up sheet with a small deposit depending on the activity to be able to get a headcount for the activity and to ensure guests will be there for the activity. If they don't show up, they lose their money. I understand they don't want to book and schedule things if no one shows up, But as an avid camper, I think people would plan for the activities they want to do and plan for days off the campground. A sign up sheet at check in with a small deposit would help get a headcount. And you can give people the deposit back when they check in for the activity whether it's movie nights with popcorn or Bingo. Also there is no pool. A pool would be nice or a splash pad, especially when being at the beach all week. A pool is a great change of pace for when you need a break from the beach. Again, I would definitely stay again. It's a nice change of pace busy...
