Maplewood at Brewster — Local services in Brewster

I cannot say enough about Maplewood at Brewster. The staff is warm and welcoming. The food is incredible and the difference in my Dad within just a month was incredible.

My Dad is a retired Veteran, who is not very talkative but sweet. Living alone was not an option for him and he had become depressed. He was sitting too much due to lack or drive for interaction and activity.... and in chronic pain due to this. With no one to talk to he became more of a recluse and at first we thought he was becoming a tiny bit forgetful (I was terrified that this may be due to onset of Alzheimers).

He did not require assistance (a level of care), but if he missed a meal they would check on him. The staff helped him socialize in the beginning so my fear of him sitting alone was quelled. I sleep better at night! I love him so and no longer worry.

Dad moved into Maplewood. Within a month (yes, just a month), he was less pale, having meals with friends, walking better with an improved posture AND his memory improved as he began moving around a socializing. His mind, body and spirit were being exercised ;0)

I work in the healthcare field so my standards are extremely high. Maplewood does not disappoint in terms of elder activities and embodies what assisted living should be.

My Mom was a resident at Maplewood at Brewster for the past five years. Unfortunately she passed away last November at age 106. Her time spent at Maplewood surpassed all of our expectations regarding "was this the best place for my Mom since she could not live at home any more". We moved some of her beloved furnature into her studio apartment and she felt very secure and nearly "at home". She became a resident at the very beginning of the Covid pandemic. Maplewood's pandemic protocols were complete and strickly enforced until the very end. The attention to detail regarding cleanlyness and daily routine made her feel especially welcomed. Three delicious meals per day fulfilled her every desire and even took cookies back to her room for her midnight snack. The entire staff, hard to call them staff since they became like family to us, were always courteous and attentive to her needs. They came and paid their respects to her on her final day. My Brother has been a resident of Maplewood at Brewster since March 2018. From his (and our) initial visit/tour, to Maplewood, he declared, “this is where I want to live!! This is it”. We had looked at four assisted living facilities and Maplewood won him over hands down. The facility is beautiful!! Inside as well as outside. Very impressive to say the least. Staff are top notch. From the concierge, aides, dining, program, nurses, and administrators, -I have been so impressed with each and EVERY single member of the Maplewood at Brewster excellent staff! It’s remarkable to me to have a large group of staff who truly understand, appreciate, and respect this population!
