My family and I stayed a couple of weeks ago, in town visiting some family. When deciding where to stay we read reviews for this hotel and another one down the street, both had similar reviews at the time and this one was a few bucks cheaper so we went for it. Just pulling into the parking lot I realized a mistake had been made. There’s the one sign near the road and that’s all! It looks run down and almost abandoned except for the few cars in the parking lot. We were skeptical but when we went inside the man at the desk was very friendly and directed us on how to get to our rooms. Saw some rusty nails in the parking lot too, near the flower beds. We went and as I do at all hotels I lifted mattresses checked all beds for bugs, thankfully there were no bugs! However two of the beds had visible body hair in them when we pulled the sheets back to see if they were clean. One bed had a pillow case that was stained and dirty. Multiple beds had some stains on them too, not sure if they were clean and stains or if they hadn’t been cleaned. We all selected non smoking rooms and one of the rooms smelled like someone was chain smoking in there, I don’t know if the scent wafted up from the first floor but it was terrible. Then the electric outlets, one room they weren’t even finished, in another room the bed lamp and clock were plugged into an extension cord. The Tv, refrigerator and microwave were plugged into a power strip that had exposed wires on it (see picture). I’ve never seen hotel rooms with so few plugs! If staying here be sure to bring a cord so you can charge from bed! One room had leftover tampons just sitting on the shelf? Not sure how that’s missed when cleaning. I dropped my chapstick on the floor when going to bed, found a fork and various other items under the edge of the bed. Also the stairs! We were on the second floor and they have carpeted stairs to go up, and they were filthy! Looked as if they hadn’t been vacuumed in at least a month. The extra cherry on top was the room keys! They constantly quit working and we would have to go to the front desk and get them rekeyed, this is where I will praise the staff, they were always very friendly and accommodating! Every time we took the keys down they apologized and got a new one, when we asked for new sheets because the beds were dirty they got a new room for us! My mom had issues with her shower too, it didn’t want to turn on, you have to push it past the stop point and it will turn on. Only other weird random thing worth noting as someone else had mentioned was the toilets are all at a weird angle in the bathroom! They’re right in the corner angled towards the door 🤷🏼♀️ Then when we were leaving to check out the cleaning lady stopped us and asked what rooms we were in, her English was not the best so it took a few minutes but it was a weird experience overall so I thought it would be worth noting. This looks to be a family run business and they keep saying they’re going to be remodeling soon but I’m not sure I would ever return, the problems are less cosmetic and more of an inability to keep things clean. I only gave them two stars because ether were very helpful when issues arose and very friendly. Spend the extra $5 and go stay at the super 8 down the road, it’s more welcoming...
Read moreI generally like the Rodeway Inns that I have stayed at in the past; they provide a good value and a decent place to stay. And some properties have been awesome!||This one, however, was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at, for several reasons:||First impression was overflowing trash bins in parking lot and cracked and uneven and dirty sidewalk.||Second impression upon walking upstairs to second floor was the landing which had curtains too long for the windows that looked dirty and were touching the floor.||Third impression was the 3 old air conditioning units on the floor at the end of the second floor hallway. I'm assuming they are in the process of replacing the units in some rooms, which is good...but they should not be placed on the floor in the hallway.||The room appeared clean but I was not convinced that the bedding was clean, as the linens had a strange odor. They looked clean, but were they?||The air conditioning unit in my room (217) worked okay but looked terrible. The trim pieces around the unit looked like they might have had mold on them. At best, they looked dirty.||Worst of all...first AND second morning in this room...we could not turn the shower handle to turn the water on in the shower. We gave up and had to go down to the front desk, as the phone in the room did not work (no surprise there). The maintenance man was called to our room. He had to use both hands and struggle to get the handle turned enough for water to come out. We didn't realize until he left that although the water was running, we could not get any hot water. So we had to take two very chilly showers that morning. We told the desk clerk and was advised that some of those handles are hard to operate and we needed to move the handle back and forth to get the water to warm up. Wow. Fortunately, we had friends in a different room, so one of us showered in their room--which was good! No one should be able to use our room with all those issues.||I did tell the desk clerk about our continued problems and she did provide a credit of about half the cost of one night's stay...truly, at least one full night should have been credited but I did appreciate and accepted her offer.||And...no one should stay at this property until/if they get these issues figured out. There are other choices up and down I80. I will never...
Read moreThe security was terrible. The guest key card entry door to the right of the main lobby had the door lock missing. A person could just insert their finger into the lock opening and open the door & many people did. Maintenance was horrible. Open wall to left of coke machine on 1st floor, broken handle to water fountain in breakfast area, torn curtains on 2nd floor window on right end of hall. Brown droppings (?) many on window sills of front lobby area where couches and TV were. Large - 3 ft X 3 ft area of peeling paint on exterior wall to left of main lobby entry. Mold in grout of tub at tile and in grout/caulk where tub & floor meet. Housekeeping staff never once did more than put in clean towels and empty trash. Found a child's sippy cup under upholstered chair in room & dust. Obvious that vacuuming prior to our arrival was poor at best. Spiders and spider webs in room. Lampshades stained on wall lamps. Sheets never changed or room vacuumed during our stay. Housekeeping staff (especially brother to owner - who was identified by front desk when we asked who he was) very rude. Knocked on door despite Do Not Disturb sign on door -then opened door every day. Another time they knocked twice -did not wait and entered before we could even get up out of our chairs. Insisted on coming in despite being requested to wait. This happened every day. Never once cleaned the sinks or toilet or tub. Rude in speech and manner. Often seen sitting in hall or steps and would stare as we went by. Front desk personnel were consistently extremely friendly, polite, professional and helpful - day and night. Sunday of our stay nothing on breakfast bar at 845am but bananas and apples. Remote to TV not working properly - same person -male brother of owner said to live with it - dial in desired TV station. Personally I feel we are due a rebate. Even Motel 6 provides better service. Only exception the front desk personnel who were...
