This is one of the out of the way campgrounds, and it was AWESOME to say the least||||We were there 10 days, and really hated to leave. It's about 30 miles south of St. Mary's entrance and about 60 miles from West Glacier, but East Glacier is about 15 miles away. East Glacier isn't near as commercialized as the west side, so fewer amenities in town, so if you need something other than gas or a drink, drive the extra 10 miles to Browning to do your shopping.|||| The campground is in bear country, so they do a good job of making sure you keep your sites clean and free of anything that would be an attractant. And this is the 1st campground that I have even been to in "bear" country where I actually saw one on the hiking trail. It is 1st come, no reservations so be there EARLY...like 7 AM early because if not, someone else will beat you to the punch. The sites are a mixture of heavily treed and open sites that are "lakeside." We were blessed to get site #87 which was a lakeside site so there was a good breeze everyday to keep things cooled off, plus they are the biggest sites available. ||||The camp hosts do a good job of interacting with everybody and there is a strong Park Ranger presence in case things get out of hand, but this was never a problem. There are ranger programs almost every night but we never attended any. There are also several good trailheads that originate from within the park for hiking. There is a good campstore there that has a small restaurant with limited items, souveniers, and a few food items to cook with...and decent coffee in the AM. ||||There is ABSOLUTELY no wifi or cell service within the park...have to drive about 10 miles up the road to find it. Overall, this is by far one of the best campgrounds we have ever been to and we are already talking about going back next year. We camped at Two Medicine (NPS Campground) in a...
Read moreWent to Two Medicine campground for a family camping trip with our 4 kids. We’ve camped all over the country and this was the worst camping experience we have ever had! We left two days early. We had a horrible experience there with the park rangers. They were about 20 of them patrolling the campground with only 40 sites open. They woke us up at 7am to scold us about stuff like an apple core one of the toddlers had thrown in the fire pit. They kept taking all of our stuff when we walked to the bathrooms. They were heavily armed with lots of guns and weapons and we’re trying to intimidate us. They told us we weren’t allowed to walk away from the campsite without packing up all of our belongings first. Like I mean ALL of our belongings! They even took my Yeti cooler that was cleaned out and empty they told me it was a violation. They lied and told us we did not have our dog on a leash which was 100% false she was never off a leash for even one second. They even approached the kids when we went out for a walk and questioned them about if we were feeding them enough like they were looking for a reason to take them from us. It scared the kids and us. When we went to get back the cooler they were terribly degrading and aggressive and wrote us a citation. We were afraid they would arrest us for something so we left and camped somewhere else. There was no possible way to camp there and not violate one of their rules with a family of 6. We are respectful, hard working Montana residents and we will never return to two medicine. The rangers should be ashamed of their behavior! What a slap in the face to the 4th amendment of our United States constitution! This should be investigated. Something is very wrong at the Two...
Read moreOur original plan during our trip was we were going to stay at Many Glacier Campground for 3 days and then stay the remainder of our time in the Glacier NP area here. However, we were getting into the Glacier area so late we decided to come strait to this location. Which worked in our favor because we had heard from a park ranger than Many Glacier wasn’t allowing tent camping due to so many people not willing to follow the park rules.||When we got in we had to use only one campsite because of the lack of spaces, it was rather full. But after our first night, our neighboring campsite became vacant and we spilt our large group up onto both sites.||The view we had of the mountains was divine! I had wished that it occurred to me that I could do a scheduled Timelapse with my GoPro earlier because I would have enjoyed watching the shadow of the mountain to our east slowly descend on the mountain across the lake to our west, but unfortunately I was unable to get that shot. If you are in the area and have that view, I can not recommend it enough.||One complaint I have with the sites we had was that there really wasn’t any good location to setup a non-free standing tent. If you don’t need to stake our your tent, it probably won’t be a problem for you. But if you, like me, require guide-lines then I would take a good hard look at the open sites and pick carefully. There was a lot of loose stone that made it very difficult.||If you enjoy hiking, it will please you to know that there are many trails within a quick drive or short walk of this campsite.||If you have kids, they may enjoy going to the campfire talks the Park Rangers put on in the evening. Our kids went to two during our five day stay and seemed to...
