I should let every one know before writing this review I’m a hotel snob. I use to open Great Wolf Resorts (the indoor water park company) all across the USA. I also try to typically stay in the nicest hotel within reason: Marriott’s normally/not blank by Marriott but actual Marriott’s.
With that noted: I could not have been happier with this outdated hotel. It is charming and has beautiful views of the water.
I think the photos of the curtains and bedding being of a style that has not been regularly used in about 50-years, instead of modern comforters and curtains turns a lot of people off. However, that is extremely misguided of those folks as the old saying goes: “don’t judge a book by its cover” and that couldn’t be more true in this case. Because under those outdated styles is brand new clean mattresses and pillow tops.
That combined with the friendly staff, clean rooms, great shower pressure (super important) and beautiful views makes this place a home run.
I chose this place despite the outdated photos online because it had good reviews. Honestly, the reviews were not good enough this hotel felt like. 4.6 instead of a 4.4. Also and most incredibly we saved 60% over several night’s or about $500 dollars booking here vs. going to gross hotels closer to Acadia.
I would normally like to keep this place a secret and save money again but my wife and I live no where close to Maine and probably won’t be visiting again and I want to make sure the owners get their return on investment.
Though, and I mean this sincerely if I owned the place I would change the comforters and curtains to a modern style just so I could charge much more.

Read moreVery disappointed with the “Inn” for several reasons. We traveled with our handicapped parents and requested a handicapped room when we checked in to be told they don’t have handicapped rooms. I was under the impression that all hotel/motel/inn type properties HAD to be ADA compliant. We were told there was a bar in the bathroom but all it was was a cheap handle bar that wasn’t connected well and jiggled when you touched it. My Mom felt very unsafe in the shower and only used it once. There were also NO handicapped parking spots which surprised us. Thankfully it was still off season so we could find parking but again it was not close to the front door. When I explained this to the lady who checked us out she stared at me blankly and said that “well the building was built in the 60’s and they couldn’t do anything about it” I said that was crazy and it’s called remodeling the bathroom with a walk in shower and putting in a higher handicapped toilet. It’s not a matter of they can’t it’s a matter of not wanting to spend the money to do it. My second gripe is the fact there isn’t even a continental breakfast available. You at least get that with places such as Super Eight and La Quinta. My sister just moved to Bucksport a year ago and she highly recommended it for its convenience. That was about all the “Inn” has going for it. VERY DISAPPOINTED considering it was not an inexpensive place and...

Our criteria for lodging while travelling are: clean, comfortable, quiet rooms, with great service at a reasonable price. This hotel delivers all that extremely well. We plan to stay here everytime we visit Bucksport Maine. I highly recommend you check it out.
We discovered Bucksport to be a crossroad central to Bangor, Castine, BAR Harbor, Searsport and Belfast. Mondays and Tuesdays we ventured out to neighboring towns for great food. In town, we enjoyed Warren's Waterfront for breakfast, and McCleods for dinner. We found a very good pizzeria about 1/2 mile north of the hotel. Everyday we had desert at the Spot (shown below). You can walk to all from the Fort Knox Park Inn.
There are museums and galleries in town we found interesting. There is a pharmacy, supermarkets and fast food restaurants in town...again all within walking distance from the hotel. HINT: Take the walking trail by the water. It is very convenient.
