I operate two motels here in the mountains, and after a long summer season I was truly looking forward to my first vacation of the year. I recently adopted a pup and needed to find somewhere dog friendly to stay. I found Slackwater and was immediately drawn to the private patio aspect for the pup. The prices were so reasonable for up here in the mountains and I would honestly be completely ok paying more after my experience. The room was ADORABLE, and exactly the aesthetic I desire when staying in the mountains. It felt like a cozy modern mountain cabin. My pup loved the patio and it was so nice to relax out there in the evenings with him. The room was super clean and trust me, I checked. As someone who works in this industry I’m actually quite particular about the cleanliness in a motel room. My favorite part was the contactless check-in and exceptional customer service. We operate both of our motels with the same contactless check-in system and I truly believe it’s the way of the future for small motels like these. It allows an Innkeeper to have a life away from a desk 24-7, and allows guests to check-in whenever it’s convenient for them. Don’t mistake the contactless check-in for there not being staff available for help. The manager Erica was SO helpful and accommodating. She responded to all my questions and she lives nearby if you need anything during your stay. There were also security cameras which I always appreciate. I was so happy with my stay and I am thankful for that after a long summer. I will 100% stay again and I will highly recommend to all my friends who fly fish and visit BV often. Big thank you to the team at Slackwater Inn!

The first thing I noticed after entering the room was a strong air freshener smell from the bathroom. The second thing I noticed was the tilted floor had not been swept for awhile as I could felt the dirt on the floor with my bare feet. There were also several dead flies by the patio door. There were no hangers in my room for hanging clothes. The room wall was also thin as I could hear muffled noise coming from the next room every time someone in the room talked. Otherwise than above, everything else was fine. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable and the patio has a Mountain View although slightly obstructed.

If you have a dog - this is probably a great place. If you don't have a dog, I'd go to a hotel. This is a motel with fairly clean rooms (only really let down by the filthy AC and the smell). Beds were comfortable and clean. Clean towels were provided, including one for dogs. Upon arrival the room had an eye watering caustic smell of cleaning chemicals which faded to a smell of meat! Perhaps there was some kibble or a bone left in the provided dog bed or something! Stepping outside to the mountain views is an amazing start to anyone's day!

Had the absolute pleasure of staying here for a few nights during a road trip. I wasn't expecting much and hadn't really planned on being here, but sometimes things don't go to plan. Slackwater Inn was absolutely amazing! It's in a great location, with a few great amenities in walking distance (some coffee, sweets, and other food). It's only about a 3 minute-ish drive to Buena Vista, which has more to offer. I loved how quiet it was at Slackwater Inn; there wasn't nothing to do, but it wasn't boisterous either. We did stay in two different rooms (one without a patio and one with). Both rooms were clean. Staff were friendly during interactions. It was the perfect stop, and now I cannot wait to go back! Stopping here was during a stressful situation, but being here was peaceful and fulfilling. I will be coming back in the future. Next time, I plan to check out some of the adventures too!|I didn't have my dog with me on this road trip; we were spending too many long days driving in the car, so I left her home with some family. But when we hit our rough patch that left us stuck in this area, I was so glad not to have to worry about finding somewhere to sleep that would accept my dog. I can now report back- she wouldn't have cost us any extra or caused us to be turned away- they are pet friendly! I do recommend getting a patio if you bring a dog- they have a great dog walk in the back, but I don't know if you can get to it from a room...
