This place is a no-frills cabin experience. If you like bedside tables, hand towels, and enough space to open your luggage AND walk around, look elsewhere. You have to bring your own towels, your own coffee, your own sugar, your own toiletries, etc. They have little kitchens furnished with most basic wares you would need, which is nice, but most of the pots and pans are made of scratched Teflon, so use at your own risk. Thankfully, we brought another pan! Also, the oven didn't turn on in our cabin, and it was not clear where to go for help with that. Service is weirdly non-existent. (Generally speaking, that's ok. One doesn't usually go to a cabin to talk to strangers. But normally there's at least someone around.) However, the outdoor patios and screened in porches are great, and the communal fire pit/picnic area is also very nice. There are fancy grills to use, and they even have a permanent granite cornhole game. (I assume the bean bags are not made of granite. Maybe it's BYOBB (bring your own bean bags).) At any rate, it was too rainy, so we did not play. Overall, this is a good little place, just be prepared to bring your own things. (Including a sponge to wash any dishes they use--they request that you wash the dishes, but they don't provide everything you need to do so. They did have dish soap, at least.) Our cabin was still cozy, and that's what we wanted!

My wife and I stayed two nights over Valentine's Day weekend this year to belatedly celebrate our anniversary and Valentine's Day together. We loved how clean and cozy the cabin was and how quiet the area is. The cabin had plenty of amenities and stayed plenty warm even though we were there in the middle of winter. With several cabins nestled close together, this would be a great location for a family vacation or reunion.

The cabins are perfect, we took our grandkids on a short vacation and they loved staying in the cabin and want to go back again. Everything is clean, the beds are comfy, and the owners are really friendly. Beautiful place to see a sunset right across the street.

Very nice little getaway.. This was our 1st time coming up to Big River Escape in Buffalo City. We went up for a festival in Wabasha, about a 30 min drive. So peaceful out here!! Love the fact that it is a pet friendly place. Cabin was very comfortable and had everything we needed.. I brought extra blankets because it was winter and being my 1st time up in Wisc in the winter , I wasn’t sure how cold it would be. Heat in the cabin was perfect!! I didn’t need my extra blankets. Definitely stop at a grocery store prior to staying because it is a little town with not much to offer for groceries. Had to buy breakfast stuff at the local gas station which was fine, we only needed 1 day of breakfast. Other than that it was perfect and now we know the area a little better we will go more prepared food wise. Definitely will be back for a relaxing getaway...

This has been our third time staying up there and we have enjoyed it each time. My mom who is elderly really likes how you can do all right there if you choose and the cabin we stay at has room for her to get around with a walker. We can cook right there and took advantage this time of grilling out. We visited with local family that lives up there and weather was beautiful. We went down to the dock area and enjoyed the views. This time we even brought our bikes to take advantage of the spread out town to ride places and great as most of it is flat. I know our family enjoys coming here as it is home away from home and Greg is there if you need something as even let us know when we said we had issue with one of the bike tires. We will be back again as we love the small town feel with the at home...
