Doves rest cabins are only a stones throw away from the number one rated state park in Texas, Palo Duro Canyon. This place is a hidden gym. We stayed in the small cabin number 2 for two nights, which overlooks the canyon.

This 17 acre property is beautiful, and what stands out the most is how well it's kept. The owners obviously take pride in these cabins and have spent a lot of money to achieve this.

Wildlife is abundant on this property. The first morning, I opened our front door, and an Aoudad big horned sheep was staring at me from about 30 feet. This alone made the trip worth it. Numerous times, we saw the sheep on the property; 11 was the most at one time.

The state park entrance is only about 2 miles away, if that. This place is beautiful, and it seems like you're in another world. We hiked the popular Lighthouse trail, 6 miles round trip. This trail is rated moderate. We took our time and had a small dog with us, and it took 2 hours 49 minutes. It's much hotter in the canyon, so take breaks and plenty of water.

Back to the cabins, they are spectacular and worth every penny. There is an overlook with a large canopy with chairs on this property overlooking the canyon. It's beautiful and very comfortable. All in all, it is a perfect place to stay. We...

Loved our stay! We spent the night here while passing through Palo Duro Canyon on a road trip, and my only regret is that we weren’t able to stay longer this time. Our cabin (Buffalo) was clean, cozy, and well stocked with everything we could need, including the comfiest bed I’ve slept on in a long while (in all seriousness, what brand of mattress was that?!)

Kitchen had a microwave, fridge/freezer, coffee maker, Keurig, dishwasher, 2-burner stove, and a good stock of flatware, dishes, and utensils.

This is the perfect spot to decompress and enjoy spectacular views day and night (great spot for stargazing).

We’re already planning our next visit to Palo Duro and can’t wait to...

My wife Peggy and friend Shannon made all the arrangements at Doves Rest Resort while visiting Palo Duro Canyon. We ended up staying in cabin Laredo and it did not disappoint, the cabin was extremely clean and beautiful when we entered. The cabin had all the comforts of home but with a spectacular view. We had a minor hiccup with 1 of the large screen TVs in a bedroom and maintenance showed up within 5 mins of calling and fixed it faster. We will definitely plan to stay there if we visit again and most definitely will recommend this to our family and friends as well. Thank you very much Doves Rest for making our stay a Great One!!
