My recent stay at New Brighton State Beach Campground was an absolute delight, and I can't wait to share my positive experience! From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the stunning ocean view that greeted me. The location alone is worth every bit of praise, but the campground had so much more to offer. One of the standout features was the generously spacious campsite I was assigned. Having plenty of room to spread out and enjoy my surroundings was a luxury I truly appreciated. One of the highlights of my trip was the ranger-led lecture for kids. It's not every day that you find a campground dedicated to providing an enjoyable experience for adults and engaging and educating the younger generation. The ranger's enthusiasm and knowledge shone through as they connected with the kids, sparking their curiosity about the natural world. And then there's the ocean view. Oh, what a sight to wake up to each morning! The sound of the waves crashing against the shore and the salty breeze in the air created an atmosphere that was simply unparalleled. Whether enjoying a leisurely breakfast at my campsite or taking a stroll along the beach, the view constantly reminded me of the natural beauty surrounding me. Overall, my experience at New Brighton State Beach Campground was fantastic. The combination of a spacious campsite, engaging activities like the ranger lecture for kids, modern amenities like hot water showers, and the breathtaking ocean view made for a memorable and rejuvenating getaway. If you're looking for a coastal camping destination that offers both relaxation and adventure, this campground should be at the top of your list. I can't wait to return for another unforgettable vacation in the future!

New Brighton Beach is a state park with campsite that range from basic to full hook ups. We had full hook ups with a very level spot. Access to the beach is available via trail or a short drive to the lower parking lot. The beach wasn't that great as it was packed and the water is not the cleanest on the west coast. But you are super close to Capitola or Santa Cruz so your options are vast. And obviously trails for various activities are abundant in the area. But we made the best of and had fun. Kids rode bikes around with no problems and plenty of other kids. Showers were clean and just like any other place needs quarters. Overall we will probably head back one day.

We stayed here for 4 nights after scoring a last-minute cancelation the week prior. It is such a great campground. It was quiet while we were there and you could hear the waves crashing in the background. Our site was pretty large and most sites were well spaced with good privacy. Bring your bikes! We rode down into Capitola Village a few times to get dinner and just hang out. Be sure to try AJs Market up the street and Brusters Ice Cream by the Safeway. The beach is amazing. We walked all the way from here to the Pixie Deli in Aptos and it was just a lot of fun. Will definitely be back. Enjoy!

We went on a Pacific Coast Highway trip and stayed at 8 different camp grounds along the way. This was our least favorite for a few reasons. Our site as was on a very steep slope and we had a trail that was about 50 feet to the picnic table/camping area from where we had to park our vehicle...so it wasn't convenient to unload/load. When we walked around we noticed most of the other campsites also we're not flat. Campers/RVs had to use blocks under their tires to make it level for their vehicles.

The service/ranger that we checked in with was not very nice or welcoming or helpful in anyway We didn't have enough quarters for the showers, and when my husband went back to the ranger for change he said he didn't have any, and instead of giving suggestions for where we could get quarters my husband had to ask where we could get some. The ranger recommended the gas station down the road. As soon as my husband walked into the gas station, the attendant said "Let me guess, you need quarters for New Brighton.".... So obviously this is a common occurrence! The campsite should have change available with the camp host/ranger.... Or have a coin machine like most of the others do that require quarters for showers. They also need a new ranger, or he needs an attitude adjustment! We...

Campground itself was pretty nice however the staff there made it a pretty rough experience for us. We made it in at like 7:45 dropped everything off at the campground and then went over to watch the sunset. We probably got in the gate around 8 watched what we could and then walked out by the last glimmer of sun. We know this because both of our phones were dead and we had no flashlight and could still clearly see on our way out. Later in the night it became pitch black out with little to no light from the moon and stars. We got a ticket for being in “past sunset” and on the ticket it claimed that sunset it at 7:59. The gate states open til sunset which is a very arbitrary time. I believe they leave the gates open to prey on guests. After the ticket we wanted to dispute it (you have a 30 day pay or dispute it) it took 28 days for the ticket to get entered into the system I’m guessing another tactic to try and take more money from you by giving a late fee. I had also tried to call to get an update or anything where I was met disgust for even thinking I could call to talk about the ticket. We disputed it and got rejected another month later. From my experience the campsite was beautiful however it is ran in a...
