ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING MOTEL! This place NEEDS to be shut down, have every single piece of furniture thrown away, and then fumigated.||I paid $135 for a suite and this is what I got! Please read below to see how bad this place is. The Comfort Inn Encinitas is 5.7 miles away and was only $10 more and was WAY cleaner! Go stay there instead!||This was the worst motel/hotel I've ever seen in my life and I've spent many hundreds of nights in hotels. As I opened the door to the room 2 cockroaches and 1 ant scurried into the hallway. The entire room was infested with various types of bugs and spiders everywhere, including in the bedsheets! As if this wasn't enough, the lamp above the couch was broken. The couch was badly ripped and stained. When I barely pushed down on the cushions 3 bugs came crawling out and the cushion made a crunching sound the way a sun rotted cushion does. This was a couch that even Goodwill would toss in the dumpster. The living room tv didn't have a remote, there was no shampoo or conditioner in the bathroom, the windows in our third floor suite were completely wide open about 2 feet wide without any screens, the living room window was wide open and the screen was torn in multiple places with baseball sized holes, the pillows were very stained, matted, balled up, and extremely lumpy. They had taken mismatched king size pillows and folded them in half because of how thin they were and then stuffed them into full sized pillow cases. Further this property used to be a Holiday Inn before it became a Motel 6 and the old lumpy pillows had holiday inn tags on them! They are still using these nasty pillows!! The microwave in the kitchen was missing a panel across the top. There were at least 10 more bugs that I could visibly see just standing in the kitchen. When my child opened a dresser drawer another cockroach ran out along with another ant. The pool and hot tub were empty and the front desk said that they'd been broken down for a while. They don't offer any breakfast. The lady at the front desk was holding a very large bottle of alcohol under her arm and was walking her own dog through the lobby and then back behind the front desk. This was between 10-11pm local time. The carpets in the hallways and in our room were significantly stained and needed to be replaced because even a cleaning didn't seem enough. There were literally dozens and dozens of stains everywhere. Only a few minutes after seeing our room we went down to the front desk and said that we would not be staying here and wanted a refund. They said they would issue a refund ($135) and we left. When I told the lady at the front desk about the open windows she said I'll bet the maids were trying to air the room out from something. Was someone smoking in there? Or worse? I don't want to know. I'd honestly have rathered slept in my car than been in that place. This motel is also right next to some loud trains and we heard multiple trains going by in the short time we were here. You could clearly hear them from inside the motel and inside the room. We drove a few miles down the road and found a Comfort Inn and stayed there. The Comfort Inn was only $10 more and they had a clean room with a working pool, hot tub, and a free breakfast with a decent selection of foods!||4 days later, today, when the refund still hadn't showed up I called the Motel/Studio 6 and the same lady at the front desk told me that a refund hadn't been requested and that she didn't have the authority to issue a refund because she'd only just started working there. I asked to speak to the general manager, Maritza Cardenas, and was told that she had not been in since my stay and wouldn't be in for quite a while because she was having major medical issues. I then asked for a corporate phone number and the front desk lady refused to provide any number and instead told me that someone would call me back. I tried calling a number I found on the website and it wasn't in service. I tried another number I found and got ahold of someone. They said it would take 7-14 days...

Read moreThis place is a horror show! Anyone who gives it more than a 1 is bring untruthful and the pictures MISREPRESENTS THE REALITY! I was checked in there by an organization assisting me due to the fires. I saw a few concerning reviews and called the manager to ask about it and he said that the complaints were by people complaining about nothing. I checked in the following day and the place was horrible! I cannot say horrible enough! The pool is non-existent, not breakfast, no restaurant nothing - a room that has bugs and stinks with a tiny kitchenette.
I lodged a formal complaint regarding a recent stay at the Studio 6 location in Carlsbad. This accommodation was secured on my behalf through the generous assistance of the city, provided to individuals who lost their homes in the recent fire. As a travel advisor I approached this stay with professional diligence and an open mind.
Prior to my arrival, having noted concerning reviews online, I contacted the hotel manager directly to seek clarification regarding the reported issues. His assertion that complaints were without merit did little to prepare me for the truly appalling conditions I encountered upon check-in.
The reality of the hotel was an unacceptable deviation from any reasonable expectation and, I can only assume, from any advertisement of this establishment. The pervasive stench of stale odors emanating from the carpets in the passageways was immediate and deeply unpleasant. When I raised this issue with the manager, I was informed, quite astonishingly and demonstrably falsely, that the carpets were cleaned three times daily. To state such an untruth with full knowledge of its falsity was, frankly, bewildering.
Within a matter of days, the unsanitary conditions of my initial room resulted in such a severe infestation of biting pests that I was compelled to seek medical treatment at an urgent care facility. While I was subsequently moved to a different room, this room also had a carpet with a distinctly offensive odor, though thankfully without a recurrence of the bites. I did take pictures of the bugs I found in my bed twice.
In my opinion, the state of this property warrants immediate attention from the health department, with the possibility of condemnation a serious consideration. I was hesitant to further burden those assisting me by demanding an immediate departure and refund, yet the conditions were nothing short of a horror.
Also despite the hotel's supposed non-smoking policy, the hallways frequently reeked of pot, triggering a significant allergic reaction. This issue, too, was brought to the attention of the hotel manager, whose response was to state that while the offending guests had been "kicked out," no further action or preventative measures were indicated.
When I brought this unsatisfactory experience to the attention of the manager, his reaction was not only unprofessional but frankly abusive.
I formally requested a full refund for the cost of this unacceptable accommodation but it was refused. No surprise considering the misrepresentation of the amenities. If the management is willing to blatantly lie about the condition of the property and what is offered online, it is no surprise that they are unwilling to take responsibility for the condition and horror show that is this hotel.
I intend to bring this egregious misrepresentation of the property to the attention of the Carlsbad tourism department and whatever other legal entity I can think of. This place should be closed down. I will also recommend to Expedia and other platforms that they remove this property from their sites as someone might just sue them for...
