Awesome stay at Allegory Inn – mid September 2025.||This was our second or third stay here (but the first time under new ownership).|This is a great spot! Nice and close to lots of the mountain trails (including Zealand, Hale, Hancock’s, Jefferson and Washington (and the Cog Railway) just to name a few. Lots of rivers and ski/snow mobile trails close by as well.||Your stay is all done remotely from booking to electronic pass codes for the front door and your room. New owners are completely rehabbing the place (although we thought it was nice already). The place is immaculate and cozy. ||There is a communal living room, library, screened in front porch and kitchen. All are tastefully decorated and the kitchen has full-size refrigerator/freezer, sink, microwave, coffee pot and Kurig machines, plates, cups and mugs etc. You need to clean up after yourself.||During our stays, we have had rooms on the first and second floors. The rooms are on the smaller side (which is just fine as we aren’t spending time inside except to sleep. Water temperature and pressure in the combo shower bathtub was great. ||Couple thoughts - maybe some laminated instructions on how to use The Nest thermostat and TV as we had a little trouble with both (not a big deal). And while most of the face clothes, hand towels and bath towels were fine, the wash clothes looked like maybe they could be retired/replaced.||This Inn sits on Route 3 in the town of Twin Mountain. It’s a small road – one lane in each direction, however there is a slight incline/decline to the road so from our second-floor room facing the street, we did have some traffic noise despite the low volume of vehicles. Large logging trucks shifting into lower gear to go up and using airbrakes to go down. In fairness, we did have the window open for fresh cool air as it was a bit warm and stuffy on the second floor. They do have a small ceiling fan and a desk top fan which helped but there is no A/C.||Had the pleasure of meeting one of the new owners who seemed very friendly and passionate about the work they had done and were continuing to do.||The price point is spot on (maybe even a little cheaper than it should be) given how nice it is and its location.||We have used it for basecamp for hiking trips and plan on returning for several more mountains whenever we don’t have our dog with us (dogs are not allowed here). ...
Read moreI just finished a second stay here, and I absolutely love it. The location is so convenient to hikes etc in the Franconia and Crawford Notch area. It feels like my White Mountains hiking home when I want to stay indoors instead of in my tent.
My first stay was to be close for a Mount Washington summit at the end of March, and I had the entire place to myself on a weekday and night. The kitchen was just what I needed to prep my hiking day protein oatmeal, and the shared spaces are cozy and have good vibes. My second stay was for a Franconia Ridge Loop hike at the end of April. I stayed on a Saturday, so there were a few other guests, but I never saw them and had the kitchen and living area to myself after my hike for dinner. So luxurious!
The place is cleaner than most hotels twice the price (yall know it’s rough out there these days), and I appreciate the hands off style of privacy you get here, while also still feeling cozy and communal. The inn is a quaint older building, so don’t expect modern perfection and you won’t be disappointed. I think the value for the price is just right.
I stayed in the standard room then one of the queen rooms (2a), and found the shower to be much more accommodating for my tall height in the queen room, just fyi. I was super pleased with the room sizes and chairs, bathrooms, storage spaces etc. Awesome all around. Just make sure you have your room code within 24 hours, especially if you’ll be traveling through areas with sketchy service. Reach out via the number or email provided and they’ll get them to you quickly.
Places to eat are within 15 minutes or so, Bethlehem has places that stay open later.

Read moreMy partner and I got covid just before our reservation. I called Michelle and she told me she would get back to me with dates to reschedule our trip. Upon following up with her she backpedaled and states “this is not the policy”. Why offer to provide us with dates in the first place if you have no intention to? Extremely disappointed by my interactions with her. Would recommend booking elsewhere.
Edit: You are clearly taking my words out of context. Out of respect for you and your guests, we decided it would be inappropriate to come and potentially infect other people. I did not lie about having covid, I sent you a photo of the actual test that I took (for the first time) that morning after getting off the phone with you. Since you did not reply to my email asking for additional dates we could return (after you said you would on the phone), I politely asked you if you would consider a refund considering it was a large sum of money. After you said no, I then returned back to your initial offer to come on another date and requested dates to reschedule our visit. You then changed your mind and said it was against your policy. Frustrated that you then went back on what you said, I said "we could have come anyway" but I would never do that and get other people sick. If you are going to go back on your word then just own it and...
