Bedbugs! It's a truly terrifying and nightmarish ordeal. The sensation of things crawling on your skin in the middle of the night is an experience no one should have to endure. The young couple who owned the place kindly moved us to another room, but to our dismay, we discovered bedbugs once again when we pulled back the bed sheets. As we began searching behind furniture, under the bed, and along the walls, it became painfully evident that this place desperately needed a thorough cleaning and better maintenance. It's true that even 5-star hotels can have encounters with bedbugs, but it's a fact that dirty environments tend to keep them in. In a panic, we hastily packed our belongings into plastic bags and left the place. Trying to find another hotel in the middle of the night after a grueling 10-hour motorcycle trip is an experience nobody wants to go through. The most disheartening part is that we genuinely liked the owners, and it pains me to write this negative review. However, it's difficult to believe that they were unaware of the widespread bedbug infestation in their hotel. They did refund us the following day, but that compensation doesn't begin to cover the damage caused to our gear and equipment, which we had to throw in the dryer in the hopes of preventing those pests from infesting our homes. FYI, To ensure the well-being of future guests and to be fair towards the hotel owner, I took the initiative to reach out to them before sharing this review. I requested any evidence of them engaging a professional pest control service, this aiming to prevent similar incidents. Regrettably, my request...
Read moreFirst--the proprietor is an incredibly kind gentleman who is eager to please. He even texted me in mid-afternoon to ask what time we planned to arrive, because he was going to be delayed in getting our room ready. I feel badly that I didn't respond, but we were using my phone for navigation and didn't realize he had tried to reach us until after we already had arrived.||||This is an older motel, which means we got to pull the car right up to our door. SO nice. Many upgrades and repairs have been done and everything seems very clean. There's a beautiful outdoor pool, playground equipment for children and chairs, chaise lounges, small tables and a comfortable bench for adults on the second-story deck and walkway. There's even a partially enclosed smoking area out away from the main building for smokers. ||||I wanted to love this place. Unfortunately, our little air conditioner couldn't keep up with the summer heat and the bed pillows were quite hard. I couldn't sleep well, so it sort of spoiled our stay. But everything else was great. If I could cool down the room and bring my own pillow from home, I think I'd come back...
Read moreIn deluxe room (room 7, right of the office) for $140 (after taxes) for one night. Room is meh. Not horrible, but not worth what we paid. Stains on the couch cover make us think they don't wash things properly. Toilet does not flush, knob is broken. Because we are only here for a day, no time to change rooms or get it fixed. But they must know that it's broken. Also, this was the last open room and it's too cold to change hotels now (-1 F). That brings us to heat. The heater is convective, which means it does not have a fan to blow hot air into the room. It took 5 hours for the temp to go from 60 to 70f. The desk workers said that we can't turn the dial up all the way, or the heat would turn off. That ended up not being true, and we think they said that in order to save money on the heat bill. We are in the room with long sleeves on and leggings and it still feels chilly. I wish we had paid a little more to stay at a better maintained motel.
One positive is that it is only 10 minutes from the mountain, and very close to food options. The wifi is also fast. The staff is also polite.
The temperature is the main reason for the...
